A human female, identified as Bultar Swan, possessed a strong connection to the Force. She underwent Jedi training as the Padawan of Jedi Master Plo Koon before achieving the rank of Jedi Knight. Shortly after her knighting, Swan joined a group of 212 Jedi, led by Master Mace Windu, on a mission to the Petranaki Arena on the planet Geonosis in 22 BBY. Their objective was to rescue Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi from the clutches of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Swan anticipated a surrender from the Separatists, but they instead fought back, unleashing their droid army.
Alongside fellow Jedi Stass Allie, Swan engaged the droids in close combat. However, the tide turned against the Jedi, and they found themselves surrounded, along with their remaining allies. Grand Master Yoda intervened, arriving with Low Altitude Assault Transport/infantry gunships carrying clone troopers of the newly formed Grand Army of the Republic, saving the Jedi in the arena. Swan and Allie boarded one of the gunships, which quickly departed the arena and landed in the nearby deserts. There, they charged into battle against more droid forces, contributing to the eventual defeat of the Separatists.

Bultar Swan, a Force-sensitive human female, was a member of the Jedi Order, having been well-trained as a Padawan by Master Plo Koon of the Jedi High Council. The pair once discussed the weather. By 22 BBY, Swan had recently achieved the rank of Jedi Knight and was among the 212 Jedi hastily assembled by Master Mace Windu into an assault team that journeyed to the planet Geonosis to save Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Kenobi's capture followed his discovery of a secret droid army being constructed by the newly established Confederacy of Independent Systems. He was taken to the Geonosian Petranaki Arena to face execution alongside his Padawan Anakin Skywalker and Senator Padmé Amidala, who had been captured while attempting to rescue Kenobi. While Swan and her comrades infiltrated the arena, the trio of captives fought off beasts, Geonosians, and droids. They revealed themselves, lightsabers drawn. Swan, standing with Jedi Master Coleman Trebor in the arena stands, anticipated the Separatists to surrender; however, the Jedi's adversaries instead deployed their droid army into the arena, igniting intense fighting between the two sides.
Swan began to unconsciously cycle through the sweeping and batting exercises of blaster deflection as her lightsaber training took over. For most of the conflict, she fought alongside fellow Jedi Stass Allie, but the situation deteriorated for the Jedi, forcing Swan, Allie, and other survivors into a circle on the arena floor, surrounded by droids. The battle paused, and Count Dooku, the leader of the Confederacy, offered Windu the opportunity for the Jedi to surrender. Upon the Jedi's refusal, Dooku commanded his forces to eliminate Swan and the others. Still next to Allie, Swan cut through a B2-series super battle droid, then looked up to see Jedi Grand Master Yoda on a Low Altitude Assault Transport/infantry gunship.

Yoda's arrival with the clone troopers of the new Grand Army of the Republic was to rescue the Jedi, and Swan and Allie together jumped onto the deck of one of the other gunships that had arrived in the arena. The pair held on tightly as the ship took off, cleared the arena walls, and quickly landed on the desert plains outside the arena. Swan could see the distant shapes of Separatist battle droids and IG-227 Hailfire-class droid tanks approaching, while the Galactic Republic deployed various war machines that she did not recognize among the many clone troopers around her. The new Jedi Knight then shared a nod with Allie, before the pair raised their lightsabers and charged into battle. Ultimately the Republic was victorious on Geonosis, forcing the surviving Separatists to flee. Swan survived the battle and later gave an account of her actions there. She would become a veteran of the Clone Wars between the Republic and the Separatists, which began with the battle on Geonosis.

By the time she arrived on Geonosis, Swan was used to opponents surrendering as soon as a Jedi activated their lightsaber, so she expected the Separatists to do the same when over two hundred members of the Order confronted them. She understood that a battle might happen, but believed it would not until the Separatists fought back, at which point she realized that her perceived foresight was actually overconfidence.
While her muscles moved unconsciously to deflect incoming bolts, her mind was racing as the events around her unfolded quickly, forcing her focus to narrow down to only herself and her moment-to-moment survival. When she spotted Yoda during the fighting, her first thought was only to wonder how long had he been present. The larger-scale conflict on the desert plains was bigger then anything Swan had ever imagined, and as she engaged she realized that what she was seeing was a full-scale war. The Jedi Knight fought courageously on Geonosis, which marked the beginning of her boldest adventures in the field. Swan had black hair, tan skin, and brown eyes. Her height was 1.68 meters (5 foot, 5 inches).
Bultar Swan was known for her ability to defeat her enemies using non-lethal methods. Her knowledge of martial arts led to a new form of combat that combined physical attacks with using a lightsaber for defense.
Bultar Swan wore a set of light and dark brown Jedi robes on Geonosis, with the darker elements including a tunic, boots, and pants. She used a green-bladed lightsaber with a silver colored hilt.

In the prequel trilogy film Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones, released on May 16, 2002, Bultar Swan was played by actress Mimi Daraphet. Prior to the film's release, Swan was featured in the Episode II trailer released on March 10, 2002. Ros Breden, an extra casting director, cast Daraphet, and Dermot Power created concept art of the character. Her outfit in Episode II bears a strong resemblance to the leather-accented attire worn by Anakin Skywalker in the film. The Jedi battle scenes in the Geonosis arena were filmed on Stage 3 at Fox Studios, Sydney, between August 10 and August 15, 2000.
Before the release of Episode II, the character was introduced to the public in a publicity still of Swan that appeared on StarWars.com on January 31, 2002, with the caption "Bultar Swan, heroic Jedi." In current Star Wars canon, Bultar Swan's name was first used in the mobile card game Star Wars: Force Collection, which was initially launched in 2013. Although the launch of Force Collection predates the Star Wars canon reset of 2014, Lucasfilm Story Group member Leland Chee confirmed that the game was kept updated to fit with canon.
A set diary for the 2005 film Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith that was made available to members of the Hyperspace fan club on StarWars.com reported that Daraphet underwent makeup and wardrobe tests for the film. However, Swan's name was not featured in the script and she did not appear in the film's final cut.
