Catak

Catak was a Clawdite who functioned as the aide to the criminal Khel Tanna. Sometime between 3 ABY and 4 ABY, both Catak and Tanna found themselves at the Bounty Hunters Guild Social Club located on the planet D'Assem. Tanna had arranged a meeting with the bounty hunter T'onga there, with the intention of renting the vessel Enigma Catalyst for an upcoming assignment. While present at the club, Catak utilized his shape-shifting abilities to transform into a Twi'lek, subsequently instigating a bar fight. As the brawl unfolded, Catak reverted to his Clawdite form and joined Tanna, who then introduced him to T'onga. Tanna informed T'onga that Catak was instrumental in completing their team for their job. Following the altercation, the assassin Deathstick and the bounty hunter Durge became members of the crew.

Catak later offered assistance to the crew in their ambush of Boba Fett on the Rishi Moon. The crew then negotiated an agreement with Fett, who subsequently transported them aboard his starship Slave I to a mission located on the junk moon Quantxi. However, to the crew's disappointment, Catak received orders to remain behind as the designated pilot of their getaway ship, the Enigma Catalyst. He accompanied the crew to the droid station known as the Haven with the purpose of repairing Beilert Valance's cerebral processor. Tragically, he met his demise at the hands of Valance, who had undergone a memory_wipe by the cyborg fixer Tarr Kligson.

Biography

Joining a crew

During the Imperial Era under the Galactic Empire, spanning from 3 ABY to 4 ABY, the Clawdite named Catak was employed by the human scoundrel Khel Tanna in the capacity of her assistant. At a later time, the two were present at the Bounty Hunters Guild Social Club situated within the Black-Market District of the planet D'Assem, though they were separated within the crowd. Tanna engaged in a meeting with the bounty hunter T'onga, who had been the one to arrange the rendezvous. T'onga communicated her need for a starship, having previously sold her own, the Edgehawk. She elaborated that this decision was motivated by her desire to prevent her friend, the human cyborg Beilert Valance, from experiencing memory loss following their run-in with the Imperial Special Forces Inferno Squad at the black market on Depatar, as she had already endured the loss of many individuals in her life. Tanna remarked that the task sounded significant and necessitated the addition of more members to her crew.

Elsewhere within the club, Catak utilized his shape-shifting ability to transform into a Twi'lek, striking a Houk as he made his way toward Tanna. He managed to avoid detection by the Houk, although his actions did spark a bar fight. Catak then quickly caught up, joining Tanna and T'onga. Tanna introduced Catak to T'onga, explaining that the bar fight was a deliberate act to attract more capable individuals to aid in their efforts to rescue Valance. As the brawl subsided, the Gen'Dai bounty hunter Durge and the assassin Deathstick were the only two left standing amidst the chaos. Tanna pointed them out and hired them for the job, deeming them the most competent. In response to a question, T'onga clarified that she was pursuing the clone bounty hunter Boba Fett, for whom the criminal syndicate Black Sun had placed a substantial bounty on his head.

Catak and the others then boarded Tanna's light freighter, the Enigma Catalyst, along with other crew members, Valance, the Trandoshan bounty hunter Bossk'wassak'Cradossk, the Gand Findsman Zuckuss, and his droid companion 4-LOM. While en route to hunt down Fett, Valance attempted to preserve his memories by drawing portraits of those he held dear. Catak taunted the cyborg by morphing into his former partner, Yuralla Vega. Angered by this, Bossk choked and threatened the Clawdite. Durge then incapacitated both of them to prevent further disturbances. Shortly thereafter, the freighter arrived at Rishi Moon, where Fett had last been tracked. The crew disembarked, while Catak remained behind. The rest of the crew then confronted Fett, who turned hostile after being warned by T'onga. The two sides engaged in combat, but T'onga eventually managed to hold Fett at knifepoint and negotiated a mutually beneficial agreement, sparing his life.

Getaway pilot

Catak startled by Boba Fett, who was confronting them.

Catak was subsequently instructed to remain behind and prepare the Enigma Catalyst for extraction, while the rest of the crew were aboard Fett's ship, Slave I. While relaxing in the cockpit, Catak shape-shifted into Tanna, T'onga, and Valance, making disparaging remarks about them, although he struggled to transform into the cyborg. The Clawdite was on the verge of commenting about Fett but was startled when the bounty hunter interrupted, unaware that the comm was active the entire time. Tanna reminded Catak to have the Catalyst ready for departure, which he acknowledged and signed off. The rest of the crew aboard the Slave I then traveled to the junk moon Quantxi for a mission, fulfilling their part of the agreement with Fett.

The crew was dispatched to assassinate the Falleen Lord Xanak Grunseit, who was wanted by the criminal empire Hutt Clan, leading them to place the bounty on Fett, fearing for their own safety. Despite being outnumbered by Black Sun forces, the crew successfully defeated them and completed their end of the bargain. Fett then upheld his commitment and provided T'onga with the coordinates to the cyborg fixer Tarr Kligson. He swiftly departed aboard the Slave I, leaving the crew behind. With their only lead in hand, Tanna contacted Catak for extraction.

A botched job

Later, the crew followed Fett's lead, which guided them to the Haven, an ancient space station. Upon their arrival, the crew was greeted by the droid Telemak and two other droids, who identified themselves as assistants to the guardian of the Haven. When Telemak inquired about how the crew had arrived at the space station, T'onga informed the droid that they had learned about Kligson and the space station from Fett. Telemak mistook the name for the human bounty hunter Jango Fett and eagerly offered assistance to Valance, sending the Cyborg to meet Kligson while Catak and the rest of the crew remained in the docking bay.

Several hours passed, and the crew began to grow impatient. Catak shape-shifted into T'onga and proceeded to criticize the bounty hunter, prompting T'onga to threaten the Clawdite with a murder plot, startling him. Tanna suggested that the crew take a proactive approach by taking one of the droids to her ship for questioning, but T'onga reminded her that she was the captain. T'onga then instructed Zuckuss and 4-LOM to further inspect the station. Unbeknownst to them, the space station had been infiltrated by the entity known as the Scourge.
