Issue number 19 of the canon comic book series titled Star Wars: Darth Vader (2017) is called Darth Vader 19. This issue was authored by Charles Soule, the artwork was done by Giuseppe Camuncoli, and it was released to the public on August 8, 2018 by Marvel Comics.
Eeth Koth, formerly a Jedi Master, has a baby girl with his wife Mira. Darth Vader barges into the room just before Koth can embrace his daughter. Eeth Koth begs the Sith Lord to let him live, stating he's no longer a threat. Koth tells Lord Vader he's now a priest in the Church of the Ganthic Enlightenment, serving his community by conducting weddings and funerals.
Koth asserts he's not loyal to the Jedi Order because he wasn't included in the Jedi Council. At the same time, Mira requests the medical droid to hand her the baby. He tries to barter information about the Jedi to Lord Vader, but the Sith Lord doesn't care. Koth uses the Force to throw the medical droid through a wall, giving Mira and their daughter a chance to escape. Lord Vader and Koth then begin a lightsaber duel.
Vader detects Koth's fear, anger, and resentment, mocking him for abandoning his Jedi ways. Koth retorts that it's the Zabrak part of him. With nothing to lose, Koth fights Vader with great intensity. Lord Vader commands his Inquisitors, specifically the Fifth Brother, Tualon Yaluna, and Thirteenth Sister, to retrieve the child. When the Fifth Brother inquires about Mira, Lord Vader dismisses her as unimportant. Koth is determined to protect his wife and child from Vader and the Inquisitors. As a father, he is committed to protecting those he loves.
To cover more ground, the Fifth Brother urges his fellow Inquisitors to separate. Akaris agrees, thinking the pregnant Mira couldn't have traveled far. She uses her Force abilities to locate the child's presence. Meanwhile, Lord Vader gains the advantage over Koth by using Force choking. The red Inquisitor intercepts Mira and her daughter before they can board a Star Commuter 2000 with her father. Appealing to the red Inquisitor as a woman, Mira begs her not to take her child.
Akaris allows the mother to leave with her child, which shocks and angers her comrades. On the ship, Mira tells her father they must return for Koth. Her father responds that Koth wanted them to escape. However, the red Inquisitor uses her Force powers to levitate the child through an opening in the shuttle. The mother screams in terror as the red Inquisitor celebrates her success. The black Inquisitor admits he should have trusted her.
Akaris gleefully states that Mira made a mistake by appealing to her as a fellow woman. She says that Mira will never trust another woman or person again. By taking her baby, she took her soul. A distraught Mira begs her father to go back for her daughter. Mira's father says that they cannot defeat the Inquisitors. He assures his daughter that they spared her baby and hopes they can reunite with his granddaughter in the future. Mira wonders why the Inquisitors took her daughter.
Meanwhile, Koth promises to save his family, but Lord Vader unsettles him by revealing that his Inquisitors have captured his daughter. As Koth reacts in horror and despair, Lord Vader seizes the opportunity to stab him from behind, killing him. After the red Inquisitor hands him the baby, Lord Vader uses the dark side to silence the crying child.
Lord Vader and the Inquisitors return to The Works with Mira's daughter. The Grand Inquisitor and two masked figures in red dresses greet them. After exchanging greetings, the Grand Inquisitor congratulates Lord Vader for capturing a child but suggests that the "Seekers" could have done it themselves. Vader boasts that he succeeded on every level because he killed Eeth Koth. He adds that the Inquisitors performed their roles well. While the masked red figures care for Mira's daughter, the Grand Inquisitor takes Vader aside for a private discussion.
The Grand Inquisitor shows Lord Vader a list of surviving Jedi on a holoprojector, including Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Coleman Kcaj, Oppo Rancisis, Selrahc Eluos, and Ka-Moon Kholi. The Grand Inquisitor tells Lord Vader that tracking these Jedi fugitives has been difficult. When Vader asks for his suggestion, the Grand Inquisitor proposes continuing Project Harvester and hopes the fugitives fall into their trap. He tells Vader they just have to be patient.
Later, Vader meditates inside a bacta tank. After repairing his damaged panel, he practices fighting with a training droid. Later, several Inquisitors, including the black Twi-lek, the red humanoid woman, the Grand Inquisitor, the Eighth Brother, the Second Sister, the Seventh Sister, and the Fifth Brother, socialize in a cantina. Yaluna and Akaris celebrate their recent kill by drinking dust juice, which they obtained from the planet where they killed Koth. The Thirteenth Sister always drinks something local after killing a Jedi.
Yaluna hopes their next Jedi kill is on Corellia or Alderaan, which have better drinks. Akaris comments that soon there will be no Jedi left and asks what Vader will do when he no longer has to hunt Jedi. Yaluna suggests that Vader has a busy schedule and will always find someone to kill. Just then, Lord Vader appears behind the Inquisitors and activates his lightsaber.
The comic book's main cover art is a take on Tom Jung's style A poster for Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.
