As their weapons clash, Eternal Rur mocks Darth Vader, asserting that he is not a Sith and proclaiming himself the last of the Ordu Aspectu. Vader retorts that he detects nothing within the droid but an abomination. Eternal Rur disagrees, suggesting that one of them is mistaken and proposes seeking the truth. A terrified Dr Chelli Lona Aphra observes, lamenting that she believed she had left this aspect of her life behind. She escapes just as Darth Vader throws the droid against a rock.
Dr. Aphra encounters Yonak and the Son-tuul Pride, who are under attack from stormtroopers. To ensure his own survival, Yonak uses one of his subordinates as a living "shield" to facilitate his escape into the hangar. Taking inspiration from Yonak, Dr. Aphra feigns assistance to Sutha the Hutt. Together, they crawl to safety, successfully navigating past the gunfire. Sutha promises vengeance from Jabba if any harm befalls him, but he is killed by a stray blaster shot to the head. Dr. Aphra is relieved that she did not have to kill Sutha herself.
Yonak reaches the hangar, discovering several dead stormtroopers outside a red freighter. Inside the ship, he finds Triple Zero and Beetee, who inform the gangster that they are seeking a new business arrangement. They agree to take Yonak aboard if he obeys their commands. Yonak submits to the droids, and they pilot their ship out of the hangar.
In the meantime, Lord Vader severs one of Eternal Rur's hands with his lightsaber. He then throws Eternal Rur's possessed droid chassis to the ground. Despite the damage to his host body, Eternal Rur manages to control the guns, which unleash a barrage of fire upon Lord Vader. He also attempts to infiltrate Darth Vader's cybernetic systems. Simultaneously, Dr. Aphra avoids a gun turret, which results in the deaths of several stormtroopers.
However, Vader reveals that he has implemented safeguards to his armor and employs the Force to shatter Eternal Rur's droid host body into pieces. As Vader seizes the Rur crystal, he informs the artificial intelligence that its deception is insignificant compared to the overwhelming power of the Force. Dr. Aphra capitalizes on the chaos to escape aboard the Shadow University's ship, which is filled with artifacts.
A stormtrooper informs Lord Vader that a few smaller ships are escaping past the blockade. He inquires whether they should dispatch the Star Destroyer after them, while cautioning that they would lose other fugitives. Lord Vader senses an "infuriating presence" through the Force. He decides to maintain the blockade, reasoning that the Galactic Empire can afford to lose some minor targets since they have acquired the Rur crystal. Fleeing the Imperial Star Destroyer, Dr. Aphra takes the Shadow University ship to hyperspace.
Dr. Aphra returns the artifacts to both the Shadow University and the Museum of Bar'leth, while keeping some for herself. She then travels to the beach world of Zeltros for a vacation. While enjoying Dantooine ice-twist, Dr. Aphra bids farewell to the "killer droids", Black Krrsantan, and Lord Vader.
Meanwhile, in the Outer Rim Territories, the Xonti Brothers find themselves as trainee gladiators. As they are led out of their pen, they are greeted by a vengeful Black Krrsantan and several gladiators. The horrified brothers realize that the Wookiee is going to train them the same way that they trained him. Black Krrsantan beats them with a electric baton.
On Son-tuul, Triple Zero and Beetee assist a horrified Yonak in eliminating his rivals by incinerating them. At the Imperial Palace on Coruscant, Darth Vader informs Emperor Palpatine that much of the underworld has been disrupted in the wake of the raid on the Sorca Retreat, enabling the Empire to concentrate on the Rebel Alliance. Darth Vader presents the Rur crystal to Darth Sidious, who orders that it be added to his collection of Jedi relics.
Returning to Zeltros, Dr. Aphra is confronted by Tukan, a friend of Dukan whom she murdered on the Cosmatanic Steppes. Tukan seeks to bring her to justice, but she shoots him in the chest. Dukan and Tukan's vengeful colleagues resolve to seek retribution. As the story concludes, Dr. Aphra questions why this always happens to her.
