Faa, alternatively called faa fish or big-mouth faa, represented a species of scalefish that was originally from the planet of Naboo. These creatures coexisted with six additional scalefish species within the waters encircling the city of Otoh Gunga in Lake Paonga. Furthermore, they could be located in the Naboo Abyss, where they were vulnerable to predation by the imposing colo claw fish and the opee sea killers inhabiting that region.
In contrast to most scalefish species, which generally posed no threat, the faa was a predatory carnivore. They possessed a broad, flattened head, a slender midsection, and a sizable, paddle-shaped tail. Small pectoral fins were situated on the sides of their heads. Their skin exhibited a gradient of orange hues adorned with blue stripes.
By the time of 9 BBY, the population of faa on the planet Koboh had dwindled to a mere handful, a consequence of their exploitation for their prized glands.
A fisherman named Skoova Stev, who made his home on Koboh, managed to capture a big-mouth faa in 9 BBY and housed it in a fish tank located within Pyloon's Saloon.

The initial appearance of the faa occurred in the motion picture Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. Their identification was first achieved in the Star Wars Legends game Star Wars: Episode I The Gungan Frontier. Their status as canon was affirmed in the reference work titled Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need to Know. The designation "big-mouth FAA" for the species was introduced in the video game Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which was created by Respawn Entertainment and released by Electronic Arts on April 28, 2023.
The faa, together with other scalefish such as doo, ray, mee, see, laa, and tee, seemingly allude to the real-world musical scale, specifically, "Do, Re, Me, Fa, So, La, Ti, Do."
