Mee

The Mee, alternatively known as the mee fish, represented a species of scalefish that was indigenous to the planet of Naboo. In the waters surrounding the city of Otoh Gunga within Lake Paonga, they coexisted with six other scalefish species; additionally, they could be located in the Abyss, where they were indiscriminately hunted by the large colo claw fish and opee sea killers residing there. Similar to the majority of scalefish, their diet was herbivorous, however, their poisonous spine could present a hazard.

Mee fish also inhabited the Outer Rim planet of Koboh, as well as Sakavi Tar, exhibiting a different disposition in those locations. The mee on Koboh were predatory fish known for their cunning and boldness. They utilized hundreds of small, razor-sharp teeth to consume smaller fish, posing a further risk to sentient beings, as they frequently drew blood with their bites. In 9 BBY, Sakavian fisherman Skoova Stev captured a mee fish in Prospector's Folly on Koboh, and subsequently placed it within the aquarium located in the nearby Pyloon's Saloon.

Behind the scenes

The first cinematic appearance of Mee occurred in Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. Their initial identification was within the Star Wars: Legends reference book titled Star Wars: Episode I The Visual Dictionary. Their status as canon was verified in the reference book Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need to Know.

Mee, along with fellow scalefish doo, ray, faa, see, laa, and tee, seem to allude to the real-world musical scale; specifically, "Do, Re, Me, Fa, So, La, Ti, Do."
