A male human military pilot named Hugh Sion was in service to the New Republic. He served in the years following the Galactic Civil War's conclusion. During the Cold War era, Sion was a member of the New Republic Defense Force's starfighter corps, where he piloted a T-85 X-wing. Later, he would join the Resistance and fly a T-70 X-wing as part of Jade Squadron.
During 34 ABY, during the time of the Cold War, Sion was a pilot within the Starfighter Corps of the New Republic Defense Force, flying a T-85 X-wing starfighter. Alongside fellow pilots Kazuda Xiono and Mia Gabon, he was dispatched on a mission to meet with Commander Poe Dameron of the Resistance for the purpose of delivering critical intelligence. However, the three pilots were caught in an ambush by Major Elrik Vonreg of the First Order, leading him and Gabon to fear the mission's failure. Xiono instructed both him and Gabon to escape into hyperspace while he provided cover, explaining that the mission could be successfully completed by a single pilot, and assuring them he would follow shortly. Following the mission's conclusion, Xiono went missing, and Sion presumed he had died. In reality, he had joined the Resistance and was working undercover as a spy at the Colossus supertanker fuel depot.
Later, Sion himself enlisted with the Resistance during the First Order-Resistance War. He piloted a T-70 X-wing starfighter and became a member of Jade Squadron under the command of Commander Venisa Doza.
By the time of the blockade of Dantooine, the squadron had suffered significant pilot losses. Captain Imanuel Doza, Venisa's husband, permitted them to travel to the Colossus for a specific mission. Once aboard the station, Sion had a reunion with Xiono.
Jade Squadron and the Aces collaborated to save Resistance recruits from Dantooine. The squadron journeyed there and successfully fought off a squadron of TIE fighters, although a Resistance shuttle was destroyed during the engagement. Subsequently, they made their way back to the Colossus, where Captain Doza pledged the station's support for their cause.
Shortly thereafter, the citizens residing on the Colossus found themselves in a final confrontation with the First Order. Sion, together with Jade and Ace Squadron, defended the station and destroyed the Star Destroyer commanded by Commander Pyre and Agent Tierny. Sion survived the battle and rejoined Kaz and others at Aunt Z's bar, celebrating their triumph over the First Order.
Hugh Sion was created as a character for the animated series Star Wars Resistance. Sam Witwer, a veteran actor in Star Wars, provided the voice for the character.
