Ivor Drake, a human hailing from Kestos Minor, held the position of senator representing the Kwymar sector within the Galactic Republic's Senate during the era of the Clone Wars. She became a member of the Delegation of 2,000, a collective expressing worries about the growing influence of Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine, and she presented the Petition of 2,000 during the Senate's concluding session.
Following her attendance at the funeral for her friend Padmé Amidala, Drake was taken into custody by Imperial Intelligence and subjected to pressure to reveal the identities of her allies. Upon her refusal, she was imprisoned within the Arrth-Eno Prison Complex, where she died when Palpatine destroyed the facility during a failed rescue attempt launched by the Alliance to Restore the Republic circa 0 ABY.
Ivor Drake, a human originating from Kestos Minor, functioned as the senator representing both her homeworld and the broader Kwymar sector within the Galactic Senate of the Galactic Republic amidst the Clone Wars against the Confederacy of Independent Systems. During this conflict, she aligned herself with the Delegation of 2,000, a coalition of senators voicing concerns about the emergency powers that Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine—the Republic's leader—was accumulating throughout the war, and the absence of a formal mechanism to revoke those powers. This delegation authored the Petition of 2,000, which was presented to the Senate in what would be its last meeting before its transformation into the Imperial Senate as part of the reformation of the Republic into the Galactic Empire as the Clone Wars approached their conclusion in 19 BBY.
Shortly after this reformation, Drake's friend and fellow senator, Padmé Amidala, died and Drake was present at her funeral in Theed, a city on the planet of Naboo. Drake joined other senators in a procession behind Amidala's coffin during the funeral. The day following the Empire's formation, Drake was among numerous senators from the Delegation of 2,000 arrested by Imperial Intelligence and branded as a traitor on the HoloNet News. She faced pressure to name her allies, but she refused and was subsequently imprisoned in the Arrth-Eno Prison Complex located on the planet Coruscant.
Several delegation members who avoided imprisonment went on to establish the Alliance to Restore the Republic to stand against the Empire and its leader, Galactic Emperor Palpatine. In 0 ABY, they achieved successes against the Empire on many fronts, including an attack on Cymoon 1. In response, Palpatine decreed that all political prisoners at Arrth-Eno, including Drake, would be executed. Believing that she had a chance to save the prisoners after failing to save her homeworld, Alderaan, rebel Princess Leia Organa collaborated with General Davits Draven from Alliance Intelligence to devise a mission for their extraction.
Organa sent a summary of the plan to the Alliance's leader Mon Mothma, detailing how undercover agent Eneb Ray would be activated for the mission and expressing her anticipation of seeing Drake and the other prisoners. However, upon arriving at the prison around 0 ABY, Ray deviated from the plan to attempt to assassinate Palpatine. This unsuccessful deviation resulted in Palpatine detonating a bomb that destroyed Arrth-Eno, killing everyone inside, including Drake. Draven informed Mothma of the mission's failure, leaving Organa emotionally devastated.
Ivor Drake made her initial appearance in the prequel trilogy film Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith, which premiered on May 19, 2005. Within the current Star Wars canon, her identity was first established in the 2017 reference book, Star Wars: The Visual Encyclopedia. The name originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first used in "Who's Who in the Delegation of 2000," authored by Daniel Wallace and published in Star Wars Insider 85 on November 28, 2005.
