Laan Tik was a member of the Jedi Order and a Kajain'sa'Nikto. During the Clone Wars era, amidst the conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, he held the rank of Jedi General within the Grand Army of the Republic. In 22 BBY, Tik participated in the Battle of Mimban alongside figures like Clone Captain Rex, the soldiers of the 501st Legion, and the Mud Jumpers belonging to the 224th Division. During this battle, the Jedi met his death, and his lightsaber was later wielded by Junior Representative Jar Jar Binks to save Rex's life.
As a Kajain'sa'Nikto, a subspecies of the Nikto species, Laan Tik was a member of the Jedi Order. He achieved the rank of Jedi General in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars, fighting against the Confederacy of Independent Systems. In the year 22 BBY, Tik was involved in the Battle of Mimban, fighting alongside Clone Captain CT-7567, known as "Rex," and members of his 501st Legion, in addition to the Mud Jumpers from the 224th Division.
During the intense conflict with the Separatist Droid Army, Rex instructed the 501st to advance, and the Mud Jumpers to support Tik. However, the general declined assistance, using the Force push ability to repel several B1-series battle droids. While Clone Captain Rex and clone trooper Hardcase, a member of the 501st Legion, discussed evacuating Junior Representative Jar Jar Binks, Tik was killed by a blaster shot to his chest. After the general's demise, Binks honored Tik's body, taking his lightsaber to prevent it from falling into enemy hands. With the Galactic Republic forces facing defeat, Rex ordered a retreat.
Following Tik's passing, Binks, being the highest-ranking Republic member present on Mimban, assumed command. To avoid further casualties while attempting to destroy the Separatist shield generator, the mission's objective, Rex requested Republic High Command for extraction. He also intended to proceed alone to destroy the shield generator.
After battling through Separatist forces for several hours, Rex sustained injuries. Before the Separatist droids could eliminate him, Binks intervened, saving the clone by using Tik's lightsaber to defeat the enemy droids. Initially, Rex mistook Binks for Tik, until the Representative revealed his identity. When the lightsaber slipped from Binks' grasp, Rex secured it to prevent the Gungan from accidentally harming himself. Together, they advanced toward the shield generator, utilizing blasters to eliminate droid forces. During the fighting, Binks requested to use the lightsaber, but the captain denied his request.
Being Force-sensitive, Laan Tik could use the Force to push opponents during combat and wield a lightsaber.
As a Jedi General, Tik donned Jedi Commander armor along with brown Jedi robes and white bandages wrapped around his arms. He used a blue lightsaber during combat.
Laan Tik was a character in the comic story "501 Plus One," penned by Marc Guggenheim, with illustrations by Caspar Wijngaard and Cris Peter. The story appeared in the one-shot comic Age of Republic Special 1, published by Marvel Comics on January 16, 2019.
