Minntooine

Minntooine, a planet of strategic importance, was under the control of the Commerce Guild both before and during the Clone Wars, where the guild maintained significant corporate holdings. After the Geonosian Accord was signed, signifying the guild's allegiance to the Separatist Alliance, the Confederacy transformed the world into a fortified base for their war operations. During the conflict, Minntooine was defended by a fleet composed of Commerce Guild Diamond-class cruisers, Recusant-class light destroyers, and Commerce Guild corvettes along with bombers.

Sometime in the period spanning 20 BBY to 19 BBY, the Commerce Guild had built a hub on the planet's surface. However, following the disappearance of Mekedrix, a rogue Roonian Commander from the Galactic Republic, the Death Wind squad of executioners, under Mekedrix's command, attacked the hub, engulfing the entire city in fire and resulting in the deaths of its inhabitants.

Description

Minntooine, a terrestrial planet of strategic value, was strategically located along the Perlemian Trade Route, a major super-hyperroute.

History

The mentally broken Mekedrix (pictured) led a raid against a Commerce Guild hub on Minntooine.

Before the Clone Wars erupted, a conflict fought between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems from 22 BBY to 19 BBY, the Commerce Guild, a powerful galactic corporation, had established its dominion over Minntooine. Under the guild's control, the planet, along with other worlds like Saleucami, Escarte, and Mooga, became a center for the organization's significant corporate interests. Later, as the war began and the Commerce Guild aligned itself with the Separatists, the Confederate government extended its influence over Minntooine. This planet, and other worlds connected to the guild, were converted into strongholds to support the Confederacy's war efforts, defended by Commerce Guild forces including Diamond-class cruisers, Recusant-class light destroyers, corvettes, and bombers.

Later in the war, sometime between 20 BBY and 19 BBY, the Commerce Guild constructed a hub on the surface of Minntooine. However, after a massacre that occurred on Devaron in 20 BBY, Mekedrix, a Roonian Republic Commander, suffered a mental breakdown and disappeared, only to reappear as the leader of the Death Wind execution squad, carrying out a series of raids and ambushes against both Republic and Separatist forces. The Commerce Guild hub on Minntooine was targeted alongside other locations. During the assault, the guild's city was consumed by fire from explosions, resulting in the deaths of guild residents. Three months later, Republic Admiral Wullf Yularen informed Jedi Generals Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker about Mekedrix's raid on Minntooine.

Locations

By 19 BBY, the Commerce Guild had established a hub on Minntooine's surface. The city comprised numerous structures, with tiles covering its surface, and served as home to many inhabitants.
