In the year 14 BBY, following the rescue operation of Cal Kestis, a former Jedi Padawan, from the clutches of the Inquisitors on the planet Bracca. This rescue was carried out aboard the S-161 "Stinger" XL luxury yacht known as the Stinger Mantis. Cere Junda, also a former Jedi, then recruited Kestis for a mission. This mission involved utilizing his connection to the Force to gain entry into the Vault located on the planet Bogano. Once there, Kestis encountered and allied himself with the droid BD-1 to navigate the world. At the Vault, he used the Force to enter and discovered a hologram message from Jedi Master Eno Cordova. This message revealed Cordova's concealment of a Jedi holocron, which contained the identities of Force-sensitive children across the galaxy. Cordova's message instructed the recipient to complete a trial before accessing the holocron, starting with traveling to Zeffo, the original homeworld of the species responsible for the Vault temple's construction.
In 14 BBY, during the years after the Great Jedi Purge, the crew of the S-161 "Stinger" XL luxury yacht called Stinger Mantis, journeyed to the hidden planet Bogano. This trip followed their rescue of the one time Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis from the Second and Ninth Sister Inquisitors on Bracca. Cere Junda, the former Jedi who had cut herself off from the Force, recruited Kestis. She needed him to employ his connection to the Force to unlock a Vault on Bogano. Her goal was to advance her ambition to restore the Jedi Order.
After Kestis disembarked from the Mantis, he encountered the BD unit droid BD-1. BD-1 joined him on the mission, assisting by scanning their surroundings. The pair journeyed across the grassy mesas of Bogano, defending themselves against the local fauna, including the bog rat, oggdo, and splox, using his former master's lightsaber. They also uncovered traces of past Jedi presence. During this journey, Kestis experienced flashbacks to his youth, recalling training in Force powers with his master, Jaro Tapal. These memories helped him rediscover Force abilities that he had previously lost when his connection to the Force was severed as a result of the Jedi Purge. He utilized these skills to navigate Bogano's terrain and reach the Vault.
Kestis used the Force to open the Vault, discovering a hologram message from Jedi Master Eno Cordova. Cordova revealed that he had hidden a Jedi holocron within the Vault's inner chamber. This holocron contained the names and locations of Force-sensitive children throughout the galaxy, providing a key to Junda's ambitions of restoring the Jedi. However, he stated that he could only entrust the holocron to someone who had followed his path and understood him. Cordova explained that the vault was a temple built by the ancient Zeffonian people. He directed the listener to travel to their homeworld of Zeffo and seek out the tombs of the Three Zeffo Sages. He also revealed that the droid BD-1 contained the messages needed to complete the quest. On their return to the Stinger Mantis, Kestis and BD-1 discovered Zeffo art on a stone wall depicting the planet Dathomir, and the droid played a message from Cordova explaining that the Zeffo had a curious interest in the dark world.

Upon reaching the ship, Kestis shared his findings about the holocron and their two potential destinations with Junda and pilot Greez Dritus. After learning about the holocron hidden on Bogano, Junda showed him the holocron she had on board the ship and Kestis opened it. She revealed that Eno Cordova had been her own Jedi Master during her time with the Order. She viewed the data within Cordova's hidden holocron as a means to restore the Jedi and expressed her belief that rebuilding the Order was their best defense against the Galactic Empire. She asked Kestis for his opinion, and he admitted that after his encounter with the Inquisitors, he could no longer hide from the Empire. He hesitantly agreed to assist Junda with her mission. After he committed to joining them, Dritus allowed Kestis to choose between Zeffo and Dathomir for their next destination, with Zeffo being his final choice.
The Bogano mission was first featured in the 2019 video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
