During the Second Imperial Civil War in 138 ABY, a mission was undertaken by a trio consisting of two Imperial Knights and one Jedi Knight. Their destination was Korriban, the Sith world, with the objective of liberating Princess Marasiah Fel of the Empire-in-exile. Darth Krayt's Galactic Empire had kidnapped Fel during a peace conference on Agamar between the Jedi and Imperial Knights. Emperor-in-exile Roan Fel charged Antares Draco, the Imperial Knights' leader and the Princess's lover, with either rescuing her or killing her to prevent her from divulging Imperial secrets to Darth Krayt's One Sith. Draco, channeling his anger, disguised himself as a Sith Lord and journeyed to Korriban alongside fellow Imperial Knight Ganner Krieg and Jedi Knight Shado Vao, who posed as captives from Agamar.
The team successfully infiltrated Korriban's Sith Temple and freed Fel. She revealed that Darth Havok, formerly Draco's Master Eshkar Niin, now a Sith Inquisitor, had subjected her to torture. During their escape to their waiting ship, the group fought their way through numerous Sith. Draco, prioritizing the Princess's escape, remained behind on Korriban as his companions departed. After defeating a wave of attackers using a stolen Sith lightsaber, he was confronted by Havok, who urged him to embrace his anger and join the Sith. Draco's refusal led to a duel, which Havok won by employing Force lightning. Fel was safely transported to Bastion, her father's fortress world, while Draco was left to face Havok, who aimed to extract Imperial secrets from his new prisoner through torture.

Amidst the Second Imperial Civil War in 137 ABY, Darth Krayt's Galactic Empire's dominion faced challenges from various rebel factions. As the year drew to a close, representatives from the Empire-in-exile and the New Jedi Order convened on the planet of Agamar to forge an Alliance against the Sith–Imperial forces loyal to Darth Krayt. However, an Imperial attack disrupted their meeting. The Imperial Knights of the Empire-in-exile and their new Jedi allies repelled the attacking Sith, clearing a path for Roan Fel, the Emperor-in-exile, to escape Agamar aboard an escape shuttle. While most surviving Knights joined him, Jedi Master Rasi Tuum, Imperial Knight Azlyn Rae, and the Emperor's daughter, Princess Marasiah Fel, were unable to board the shuttle in time.
Although Rae and Tuum commandeered a Sith–Imperial attack ship and returned to the Emperor's fortress world of Bastion in early 138 ABY, Marasiah Fel was abducted by Krayt's forces and transported to the Sith world of Korriban. There, the Sith Inquisitor Darth Havok, formerly the Imperial Knight Eshkar Niin (before killing Fel's mother and defecting to the Sith), subjected her to physical and mental torture. Despite Fel's refusal to reveal any Imperial secrets, her father knew she possessed knowledge of all the Empire-in-exile's codes and the location of the Jedi's Hidden Temple. Upon learning of his daughter's whereabouts from Moff Nyna Calixte, his spy within Krayt's Empire, Roan tasked Antares Draco, the leader of the Imperial Knights, with rescuing the Princess. If rescue proved impossible, Draco was ordered to kill her.
Draco withdrew to his quarters and consulted the holocron of his former Master, Eshkar Niin, whom Draco believed he had slain years prior. Torn between his love for Fel and his duty to protect the Emperor, he formulated a rescue plan only after recalling a lesson from Niin. Niin had taught Draco that a tiny fever wasp could bring death to places inaccessible to a Krayt dragon. Consequently, Draco prepared a small-scale infiltration mission. He covered his body with artificial Sith tattoos and completed his Sith Lord disguise by focusing on the anger he felt over Fel's abduction. He journeyed to Korriban in the attack ship, accompanied by fellow Imperial Knight Ganner Krieg and Jedi Knight Shado Vao, who pretended to be captives taken on Agamar. Upon arriving on Korriban, they entered the planet's Sith Temple, where Draco intimidated a Sith guard into granting them access to the Chambers of Persuasion. From there, he could sense Fel's pain, sorrow, and defiance.

Several Sith escorted Draco and his companions into the chambers, where an exhausted Fel was suspended within an energy field during a brief respite from her torture. Krieg and Vao used telekinesis to seize the guards' Double-bladed lightsabers and swiftly eliminate them. Draco then freed Fel and held her in his arms. However, she was furious, believing he was a traitor who had lied about killing Eshkar Niin. Draco was shocked to learn his former Master was alive. Sensing approaching enemies, Vao urged them to proceed to their escape ship. Fel grabbed a Sith lightsaber and the four fought their way through a large group of Sith after leaving the temple. After eliminating every enemy in their path, the group reached the ship, but sensed more foes approaching. Draco insisted that the Princess escape, volunteering to stay behind and hold off the attackers while his allies fled.
Fel, realizing Draco was not a traitor, protested his plan and offered to fight alongside him. However, Krieg dragged her onto the ship to ensure their mission wasn't in vain. Vao piloted the ship away from the laser blasts of turrets and into Korriban's atmosphere, while Krieg manned the ship's guns. Meanwhile, Draco, wielding two lightsabers, furiously cut down a wave of attacking Sith. Darth Havok then approached him, complimenting his anger and suggesting he would make a fine Sith. Draco, eager to finally kill his former Master, engaged him in a lightsaber duel. The battle moved from the ship's landing pad to inside the Sith Temple, with both combatants using the dark side of the Force to fuel their attacks. Both felt a surge of dark side energy as Darth Krayt, widely believed dead, projected his will across the galaxy from deep beneath Korriban. Draco was stunned. Havok, observing Draco's use of the dark side, offered him one last chance to join the Sith. When Draco refused, Havok struck him with Force lightning, ending the fight. Fel, Krieg, and Vao were shocked to feel Draco's apparent death in the Force, but they completed their escape and returned to Bastion.

On Bastion, Fel refused to accept Draco's death and tasked her uncle, Hogrum Chalk, the Director of Imperial Intelligence, with gathering information about him from spies within the Hapes Consortium. However, Fel's father held a remembrance ceremony for Draco and the Imperial Knights who died on Agamar, attended by the Princess, Vao, and over twenty Imperial Knights. On Korriban, Havok imprisoned Draco, prisoner, and subjected him to physical torture, hoping to extract Imperial secrets. When Draco remained defiant, Havok used a Force illusion to transport Draco back to the day he witnessed Havok kill Fel's mother, exploiting Draco's guilt for failing to prevent it.
Havok returned Draco to the present, but his illusion disguised Darth Talon of the Sith Hand as Marasiah Fel. Claiming Draco's mission had failed and Fel was recaptured, Havok threatened to kill the Princess unless Draco provided vital information. Desperate, Draco revealed the location of the Jedi's Hidden Temple. Darth Krayt prepared for an attack, hoping to crush the combined forces of the Alliance. He had Draco frozen in carbonite and delivered to the former Jedi Cade Skywalker. Learning of Draco's revelation, Skywalker rushed to the Hidden Temple, where the entire Alliance was planning a last stand. Fel was visiting the temple at the time and, although furious at Draco's betrayal, remembered his courage during her rescue. She gave the broken man a chance to fight in the battle and redeem himself.
The mission of Antares Draco to Korriban is depicted in issues forty-ninth and fiftieth of Star Wars: Legacy, a comic series penned by John Ostrander and Jan Duursema. Duursema provided the pencils for both issues, which were released in 2010. Despite Draco's friends sensing his death in the Force at the mission's end, his survival is revealed in the first issue of the follow-up miniseries Star Wars: Legacy—War, also released in 2010. However, Duursema confirmed Draco's survival on the Jedi Council Forums a month before the issue's release.
