Biography

Early career

Early in the Galactic Empire's existence, Visler Korda, a male human, became an officer within the starfleet. He participated in the Battle of Maraken, during which he suffered the loss of his lower jaw. Consequently, he received a robotic replacement, distinguished by its sharp metal teeth. Korda gained favor with the Imperial High Command, ultimately achieving the rank of captain. He even received direct commands from Darth Vader, the Emperor Palpatine's most trusted subordinate. He also deployed the bounty hunter "The Shade" against the Graf family.

Capturing the Graf spouses

Korda was at one point assigned the task of acquiring critical data from Auric and Rhyssa Graf, a pair of cartographers who had dedicated fifteen years to mapping Wild Space, an expansive and uncharted region of star systems located at the edge of the galaxy's rim. To achieve this, he contacted Dil Pexton, the couple's agent, and coerced him, under threat of arrest, into revealing the Grafs' current location. Pexton relented, enabling Korda to track the Grafs to an unmapped swamp planet, where he attempted to force them to surrender their maps without compensation. Upon their refusal, Korda declared the planet Imperial territory and took the couple into custody. However, Rhyssa Graf had anticipated such an event and implemented a contingency plan: the data was actually stored within the memory banks of Crater, the Grafs' homemade droid, who was not present during their capture. Furthermore, the cartographers had two resourceful children, Lina and Milo Graf. As the children and the droid were absent when Korda captured the Grafs, the captain's operation was unsuccessful.

New Republic Era

Commodore Korda ended up stuck under one of his scuttlers.

Following the destruction of DS-2 Death Star II Mobile Battle Station above the Sanctuary Moon, Korda found himself stationed on Rekkana with his troops, now holding the rank of Commodore. He now sported a cybernetic eye and a metal nose, features not previously apparent. The remaining Imperial forces utilized TIE auto-fighters to protect the space surrounding the planet. Korda collaborated with a lieutenant named Drosk, who served as his assistant at the installation, overseeing a labor camp. Korda made an attempt to prevent Lando Calrissian's escape after he freed prisoners Jaxxon and Chancellor Asera, and his stormtroopers attempted to intervene, but he ended up trapped beneath a Scuttler when Jaxxon, piloting one of the walkers, caused it to stumble. Korda survived this incident and witnessed the Millennium Falcon's departure. He subsequently arranged a flyover of his new auto-fighters to project an image of strength to the New Republic through a cam-droid recording, but when the fighters attacked their own staging area, Korda contacted control to inquire about the malfunction. Calrissian responded via comm, informing him that either there was a malfunction or the local Rekk people had begun an uprising against the Empire. With the successful return of the Totem of Saglanost, the Rekk were willing to fight and the Imperials surrendered.

Behind the scenes

Early sketch by David M. Buisán showing Korda's initial design

Visler Korda's initial appearance was in the 2016 junior novel Adventures in Wild Space: The Escape by Cavan Scott, which served as a prequel to the Star Wars: Adventures in Wild Space series, co-authored by Scott and Tom Huddleston. Within the Adventures in Wild Space books, Korda possessed a cybernetic jaw and reappeared with a cybernetic eye and nose in the 2019 comic "Hare-Brained Heist," which takes place several years after the book series. Although these additional cybernetic enhancements were not present in Adventures in Wild Space, they were part of Korda's original character design, as evidenced by an early sketch by David M. Buisán for the cover of Adventures in Wild Space: The Snare.
