Corellian Security Force

The Corellian Security Force, often shortened to CorSec, served as the primary [law enforcement agency](link url) within the [Corellian system](link url). Renowned for its high rate of success, CorSec achieved this through the exceptional efficiency of its staff. Officers within CorSec were widely recognized for their integrity and intelligence, coupled with rigorous training and a strong work ethic. They rarely permitted criminals to operate freely long enough to inflict significant harm on [Corellia](link url). Boasting an impressive record of arrests and convictions, CorSec stood among the galaxy's most distinguished law enforcement bodies. For over three millennia, the Corellian Security Force upheld security and maintained order in the Corellian system, with only a brief interruption during the [Galactic Civil War](link url) when the [Public Safety Service](link url) took over.

Description

In the [Corellian system](link url), the Corellian Security Force functioned as the main [law enforcement agency](link url). Though officially under the authority of the Corellian chief of state, CorSec operated with considerable autonomy, often acting independently of the Corellian government. While its operations were mainly focused on the [planet](link url) of [Corellia](link url), CorSec's jurisdiction extended to specific areas within the Corellian system. CorSec held authority over both municipal and regional police forces, giving it a central coordinating role. This operational scope enabled CorSec to maintain a unified law enforcement system across the star system, streamlining investigations that spanned multiple local jurisdictions and reducing bureaucratic obstacles. Consequently, investigations that crossed local boundaries were assigned to the Corellian Security Force. Widely regarded as a benchmark for planetary security, the Corellian Security Force was acknowledged as one of the most effective police organizations in the galaxy.

A CorSec officer

CorSec members were famed for their dedication to justice and unwavering loyalty. The majority of the Corellian Security Force consisted of [police officers](link url), known as CorSec officers. These diligent individuals performed routine policing and peacekeeping tasks, such as neighborhood patrols, traffic monitoring on the ground and in the air, issuing citations, engaging in community outreach, and apprehending lawbreakers, often without recognition from fellow Corellians. A persistent, albeit false, rumor claimed that CorSec officers were assigned quotas for traffic tickets. Beyond standard police duties, the Corellian Security Force heavily relied on [investigators](link url), who were tasked with examining criminal cases. These investigators were trained to think critically, basing their decisions and assumptions on the available evidence. They might even operate undercover to gather information or assess situations crucial to resolving cases. Additionally, CorSec employed [pilots](link url), [soldiers](link url), [commandos](link url), and specialists in fields like computer science, diplomacy, and infiltration. New recruits received advanced training at the [CorSec Academy](link url). CorSec members could advance and attain various [ranks](link url), including [sergeant](link url), [master sergeant](link url), [chief](link url), [technical officer](link url), [lieutenant](link url), [captain](link url), [major](link url), and [commissioner](link url). Promotions were typically based on an officer's abilities and efforts, rather than political appointments. Initially headed by a commissioner, the Corellian Security Force was later led by a [director](link url). Members of the Corellian Security Force took pride in their ability to keep Corellia safe.

A CorSec major

The Corellian Security Force was structured into various divisions and services, including the [Smuggling Interdiction Division](link url), the [CorSec Intelligence](link url) service, the [Animal Control Division](link url), the [Tactical Response Team](link url), and the [Special Operations Unit](link url). The Tactical Response Team functioned as an elite paramilitary unit handling CorSec's most hazardous assignments. The Special Operations Unit specialized in infiltrating and dismantling criminal organizations from within. Additionally, CorSec provided [bodyguard](link url) services for Corellian government officials and [senators](link url).

The CorSec Headquarters

The Corellian Security Force [headquartered](link url) at One [CorSec Plaza](link url), situated in [Coronet City](link url), the capital of Corellia. Other key CorSec facilities, such as the [Corellian Security Force Academy](link url) and the [CorSec Maximum Security Prison](link url), were also located in Coronet. CorSec operated [SurvNet](link url), a network of [security cameras](link url) spanning Coronet City.

Beyond Corellia and other Corellian planets, the Corellian Security Force maintained a presence in Corellian space. The police force utilized [starships](link url) for system patrols and operated several space stations, including the [Corellia Space Station](link url), the [CorSec Outpost](link url), and the [Corellia Orbital Station](link url). These stations were used to monitor traffic and regulate access to Corellia. CorSec, in conjunction with the [Corellian Defense Force](link url), also protected the strategically important [CEC](link url) [shipyards](link url).

Equipment

CorSec personnel employed a diverse range of equipment. Traditionally, CorSec officers wore uniforms in emerald and black. During the [Galactic Civil War](link url), most CorSec officers wore [CorSec Mk. IV armored vests](link url). They also utilized [Type III "Berethron" Personal Modular Armors](link url) and [Corellian HuntSuits](link url). Common weapons used by CorSec included [CDEF blaster pistols](link url), [HL-27 light blaster pistols](link url), [H-7 "Equalizer" blaster pistols](link url), [Deck Sweeper Stunning Blasters](link url), [CDEF carbines](link url), [E-11 blaster rifles](link url), as well as [electrobatons](link url), [vibroknives](link url), and [swords](link url). CorSec also used devices such as [Autoscan Weapons Detectors](link url) and [DimSims](link url).

A CorSec X-wing

The Corellian police force also possessed a wide array of [security droids](link url), [probe droids](link url), and [battle droids](link url), including [sonic generator droids](link url).

The Corellian Security Force operated various vehicles such as [D-22 "Screamer" speeder bikes](link url), [Seraph-class urban landspeeders](link url), [CAV-11 "Condor" airspeeders](link url), and [century tanks](link url). During space missions, CorSec pilots primarily flew [LAF-250 starfighters](link url). They also utilized [T-65 X-wing starfighters](link url), [CL-1c Lancet interceptors](link url), [Z-95-AF4 Headhunters](link url), [RZ-1 A-wing interceptors](link url), [Firespray-31-class patrol and attack crafts](link url), and [Ye-4 gunships](link url). The Corellian Security also employed larger starships such as [PB-950 patrol boats](link url), [YV-330 light freighters](link url), and [CR90 corvettes](link url).

CorSec maintained a large [criminal database](link url).

History

Old Republic era

During the era of the [Galactic Republic](link url), Corellian Security Force officers were known for their loyalty to the Republic. CorSec alumni were frequently selected to join the [Republic Guard](link url) of the [Galactic Senate](link url).

Galactic War

CorSec troops during the Battle of Corellia

During the [Galactic War](link url) between the Galactic Republic and the [Sith Empire](link url), Imperial forces [invaded Corellia](link url) in [3640 BBY](link url). CorSec forces supported the Republic and joined the Corellian resistance against the Imperials.

Rise of the Empire and Clone Wars

During the final millennium of the Old Republic, CorSec forces engaged and destroyed the pirate [cruiser](link url) Xim's Scion. The cruiser's wreckage was later salvaged as the [Gus Treta Inner-System Market Station](link url). Centuries later, the Gus Treta Inner-System Market Station was seized by the [Bonestar Pirates](link url) in an attempt to evade capture by CorSec.

In [22 BBY](link url), during the [Separatist Crisis](link url), Corellia invoked the Contemplanys Hermi to withdraw from its obligations to the Galactic Republic, maintaining neutrality in the ensuing [Clone Wars](link url) between the Republic and the [Confederacy of Independent Systems](link url). Consequently, Corellian military and police forces were no longer authorized to support their Republic counterparts, and the Republic was prohibited from requesting CorSec assistance in any matter. This did not prevent CorSec officer [Rostek Horn](link url) from assisting a group of [Jedi](link url) in obtaining information against the Confederacy during a [mission on Corellia](link url) at the start of the war. Despite their isolation, the Corellians prepared for a potential attack from the Confederacy after the neighboring world of [Duro](link url) was [conquered](link url) by the Separatists later in the war. CorSec forces were placed on high alert throughout the sector, particularly to protect the CEC shipyards. Ultimately, the Separatist fleet bypassed Corellia, invading the [Core Worlds](link url) and striking directly at [Coruscant](link url).

At some point, Rostek Horn served as Director of CorSec.

The Empire and the Galactic Civil War

Following the [Declaration of a New Order](link url), Corellia officially remained independent from the [Galactic Empire](link url). The [Diktat](link url) formally retained leadership over the [Corellian sector](link url) and the Corellian military, but in practice, the Diktat and the Corellian government were subject to the Empire's control. The Galactic Empire was permitted to operate freely within the system and established a military presence on Corellia. The [Corellian Defense Force](link url) was maintained but placed under Imperial command. During the [Imperial Period](link url), the Diktat assumed the position of Director of CorSec. The Corellian Security Force was also maintained but was compelled to accept the integration of [Imperial Intelligence](link url) [liaison officers](link url) into every division, purportedly to monitor and coordinate activities with local Imperial garrisons, but in reality, to oversee CorSec officers. Consequently, collaboration was challenging. Imperial Officer [Kirtan Loor](link url) served in this capacity within the Smuggling Interdiction Division. Despite its [imperialization](link url), CorSec remained largely intact. [Non-Human](link url) CorSec officers were particularly affected by the regime change.

During the [Great Jedi Purge](link url), CorSec resources were used to assist [Darth Vader](link url) in tracking down and hunting Jedi.

CorSec officers Corran Horn and Iella Wessiri

When the [Galactic Civil War](link url) erupted between the Galactic Empire and the [Rebel Alliance](link url), the situation became more complex for Corellian Security Force officers. The Empire suddenly froze CorSec funds and confiscated large quantities of weapons and starships. CorSec staff was purged, without pension, of officers suspected of sympathy for the Rebellion, often abusively.

After the [Battle of Yavin](link url), a group of Rebel operatives led by [Adar Tallon](link url) attacked a CorSec corvette and rescued a [Rebel pilot](link url) arrested by CorSec forces under Imperial orders. Around the same time, a CorSec [shuttle](link url) carrying a group of Imperial [inspectors](link url) crashed in the Corellian wilderness while en route to a suspected smuggling depot. The shuttle crash, occurring shortly after maintenance, placed the police force in a difficult position. Furthermore, the Corellian Security discovered that local scavengers had devoured the bodies of the Imperial agents, prompting CorSec to recruit a spacer to hunt the creatures and conceal all traces of this grim fate before the Empire discovered it. Later, in [1 ABY](link url), Imperial [Grand Admiral](link url) [Nial Declann](link url) requisitioned CorSec [starfighter](link url) pilots to participate in an assault against a Rebel Alliance CR90 corvette in the [Kessel system](link url).

Ironically, the pressure exerted on CorSec officers by the Empire in its hunt for Rebels eventually fostered support for the Rebellion among some officers. After the Battle of Yavin, [Lieutenant](link url) [Jasper](link url) attempted to recover the [Codex of Tython](link url), a [Jedi holocron](link url) sought by the Rebel Alliance, from an Imperial operative. In [3 ABY](link url), a group of CorSec officers collaborated directly with the Rebel Jedi [Rachi Sitra](link url) to investigate the Imperial presence on [Cloud City](link url).

Fighting criminals

During the Galactic Civil War, CorSec officers were encouraged by their Imperial liaisons to prioritize anti-Rebel operations over their regular police duties. Staffing and funding shortages forced CorSec to recruit civilians for minor missions, leading to increased crime on Corellia. Furthermore, the reallocation of Corellian military forces to combat the Rebellion resulted in a surge of [piracy](link url) in the Corellian system. The Corellian Security Force had to contend with a wide range of criminals throughout the Corellian system, including [Black Sun](link url), [Borvo](link url) the Hutt, the [Binayre Pirates](link url), the [Afarathu](link url), the [Cult of Lord Nyax](link url), the [Lost Aqualishs](link url), the [Tralus and Talus Liberation Party](link url), the [Monumenters](link url), [Lamproid smugglers](link url), [the Flail](link url), [Jump pirates](link url), the [Ragtags](link url), the [Deflarians](link url), the [Meatlumps](link url), the [Chirq Council](link url), the [Hidden Daggers](link url), and the [Followers of Baba](link url). CorSec forces were sometimes aided by the mercenaries of [Beldonna's League](link url). Additionally, a significant number of CorSec officers deserted during the Galactic Civil War to pursue criminal activities. These [Rogue CorSec](link url) members established a [base](link url) on an island and violently harassed loyal CorSec officers, causing considerable embarrassment for the organization.

In 1 ABY, CorSec officers resolved several complex cases on Corellia. Lieutenant Jasper uncovered a plot by the Rogue CorSec to create a public political-judicial scandal aimed at overthrowing the Corellian [Head of State](link url), the [Diktat](link url) [Daclif Gallamby](link url), and his government. [Lieutenant](link url) [Joth](link url) discovered and shut down an [illegal lab](link url) where the scientist [Doctor](link url) [Maldien](link url) conducted dangerous genetic experiments to create monstrous creatures. [Inspector](link url) [Cora](link url) and [Captain](link url) [Jark](link url) recovered a shipment of weapons stolen by the [Deflarians](link url) and prevented a [Ragtag](link url) attack on [Tyrena](link url). [Commander](link url) [Talte](link url) rescued hikers kidnapped in the [Thaos Mountains](link url) by a group of [psychotic cave-dwellers](link url). [Major](link url) [Walden](link url) arrested the retired CorSec hero [Wilfred Quelsh](link url) for the murder of fellow officer [Kal Braggan](link url). [Lieutenant](link url) [Cope](link url) and [Captain](link url) [Baize](link url) uncovered the existence of the powerful [Chirq Council](link url) and ultimately disbanded the organization.

CorSec troopers battling Flail cutthroats on Talus

The Corellian Security Force was also highly active in other parts of the Corellian system. In 1 ABY, CorSec located the [Flail hideout](link url) on the planet [Talus](link url), leading to a [battle](link url) nearby. Later, [Agent](link url) [Taarna](link url) defeated the [Talusian Smugglers](link url) who were exploiting the [Selonians](link url) of the [Neetha Den](link url). Taarna also exposed and terminated the [Parasophic Arachne](link url) program, an illegal and dangerous [bioengineering](link url) project conducted by the [GeneTech Syndicate](link url) on Talus to create an intelligent and deadly form of [arachnes](link url). In the same year, Sergeant [Rhea](link url)'s pilots engaged and killed the Hidden Dagger leaders [Russ Grimblade](link url), [Xopw Laow](link url), [Mori](link url) the Bastard, [Owpa Awoz](link url), and [Quixio](link url) the Rotten in Corellian space.

However, CorSec operations were not always successful. Around the time of the Battle of Yavin, Black Sun operatives overran the [Rubicund Eye](link url), an extra-galactic observatory in the Corellian system. Advanced Black Sun starfighters repelled all CorSec attempts to dislodge them from the station. On [Naboo](link url), a CorSec agent, [Niksel Frangee](link url), who had infiltrated [Borvo the Hutt's criminal organization](link url) before the Galactic Civil War, was discovered and assassinated. Furthermore, [Borvo's bodyguard](link url) later deceived CorSec Captain [Thale Dustrunner](link url) and infiltrated his own agent into CorSec on Corellia. Borvo's spy then murdered the CorSec agent [Maerzen](link url) and the witness [Aldalad](link url). In the same year, 1 ABY, an assault team led by [Bruce McBrain](link url) destroyed a CorSec CR90 corvette containing evidence against [Jabba the Hutt](link url)'s [criminal activities](link url). Overall, the most visible sign of the Corellian Security Force's difficulties was the complete abandonment of the [Blue Sector](link url) of Coronet City to [swoop gangs](link url).

CorSec forces assault IG-88's droid factory

Later, in the year 1 ABY, the assassin droid IG-88 (an assassin droid) made a discovery on Corellia: a clandestine Separatist droid factory dating back to the Clone Wars. As part of his Droid Revolution, he brought it back online. Consequently, a strike team was dispatched to neutralize the factory, led by Lieutenant Varias and including Agent Jornel Savas, Sergeant Hirka, technical officer Druno Kener, Sergeant Mener, and soldiers from CorSec.

In the year 2 ABY, CorSec officers Hal and Corran Horn carried out the arrest of Zekka Thyne, who was the leader of Black Sun on Corellia. Sometime after, Hal Horn met his end at the hands of Bossk, a Trandoshan bounty hunter. Corran Horn would later apprehend Bossk; however, Horn's Imperial liaison officer eventually released the Trandoshan. Around this time, the Dirktat no longer held the position of Director of CorSec.

During the Galactic Civil War, CorSec seized the Nova Whisper, a Short Hauler that had been illegally modified. Previously, it belonged to Dharus, a privateer. CorSec, intending to use the ship to lure criminals, decided to leave the modifications intact. It was added to CorSec's vehicle inventory until Delt Nerris, the pilot, hijacked it.

The end of the Empire

Corsec officers assisted Rogue Squadron in the rescue of Fyric Fel

Following the demise of Emperor Palpatine during the Battle of Endor, the Galactic Empire began to fall apart, prompting numerous Imperials to seek refuge on Corellia, which was still under the rule of the pro-Imperial Diktat. This situation significantly empowered Imperial liaison officers, who felt emboldened to directly threaten CorSec officers. Despite this, CorSec officers Corran Horn and Iella Wessiri Antilles joined forces with the New Republic's Rogue Squadron in 4 ABY to rescue Fyric Fel, a child who had been abducted by an Imperial sympathizer. Consequently, Horn and Wessiri were suspected of betrayal by Imperial liaison Kirtan Loor. With the assistance of their superior, Gil Bastra, they managed to escape Corellia and defect to the New Republic. Bastra was later murdered by Kirtan Loor during an interrogation.

In 7 ABY, the Corellian Security Force was disbanded under the orders of Diktat Daclif Gallamby. Its resources, along with some of its personnel, were reassigned to the newly created Public Safety Service, which was aligned with the Diktat.

Later history

By the time of the Yuuzhan Vong War, the Corellian Security Force had been re-established, largely due to the intervention of the New Republic. However, the Corellians adopted an increasingly isolationist stance during the war, eventually electing the nationalist Thrackan Sal-Solo as Governor-General of the Corellian system. It is possible that Sal-Solo compelled CorSec officers to collaborate with the Peace Brigade, who were collaborators with the Yuuzhan Vong. Later in the Yuuzhan Vong War, specifically in 27 ABY, the Jedi Tahiri Veila, Jaina Solo, and Anakin Solo delivered a briefing to Corellian Security personnel about the Yuuzhan Vong.

In 40 ABY, the Corellian system became a key battleground in the Second Galactic Civil War. CorSec forces were heavily involved in the intense combat that took place on Corellia and at Centerpoint Station.
