Daclif Gallamby

During the initial years of the Imperial Period, Daclif Gallamby was a member of the Imperial-supported Corellian government under Diktat Dupas Thomree. When Thomree was assassinated in 2 BBY, Gallamby, previously unknown to the public, succeeded him as the designated replacement.

As Corellia's Diktat, Daclif Gallamby directly oversaw the planet's administration. His office was located in the Coronet Capitol, situated in the Governmental Sector of Coronet City on Corellia. He resided in the grand, ancient Corona House, previously home to Corellia's monarchs. Furthermore, the Diktat held the position of Governor-General of the Corellian sector, making him the commander-in-chief of the Corellian Defense Force and the director of the Corellian Security Force. However, Gallamby was essentially a figurehead who only managed Corellia's administration. Despite retaining the title of Governor-General of the Corellian sector, the Imperial Grand Moff of the Corellian sector supervised the sector and its Corellian Defense Force. In addition, the boards of directors of Corellia's most influential corporations held sway over the government, limiting the Diktat's power on Corellia. These corporations, focused on boosting the planet's economy, likely orchestrated Thomree's assassination in an effort to reduce Corellia's support for the Empire's war against the Rebel Alliance. As the conflict intensified, elements of the Corellian navy responsible for defending the Corellian sector were frequently dispatched to assist the Empire in combating Rebel activities. This, in turn, attracted pirates to the sector, making it more dangerous for traders who started avoiding the area, leading to economic decline. The Diktat responded by increasing restrictions on freedom and promoting a policy of restrictive isolationism, which both fueled and was driven by the Corellian sector's inherent suspicion and distrust of outsiders. With the Empire's full backing and protection, Gallamby evolved into an autocrat.

In 1 ABY, Daclif Gallamby secured a substantial and highly profitable contract with the Corporate Sector Authority for Corellian Engineering Corporation freighters. Given the contract's illicit nature, the corrupt Diktat enlisted a group of freelance spacers to secretly manage the sale by arranging meetings with the various parties involved in the deal in remote areas of Corellia. The spacers were initially tasked with obtaining the shipping order from CSA procurement officer Windle Meeker. They then delivered the approved order to Merlyx Dolv, the Transport Commission processing agent, who was suspicious of the additional "administrative surcharge" included in the contract. Later, the spacers were instructed to collect a kickback from Dwynn Biuval, a CEC sales representative, in the form of a donation to the Commission for the Rehabilitation of Unwanted Krahbu, a charity managed by Gallamby. Subsequently, they bribed Lieutenant Mien Halloor of the Imperial Customs Offices, who was evaluating the shipment of CEC starships being sold to the CSA. Afterward, Merlyx Dolv, the Transport Commission agent, contacted the Diktat's office and threatened to cancel the CEC freighter sale to the CSA. The spacers were immediately sent to capture Dolv and bring him to the Diktat, after which Merlyx Dolv was assassinated. However, it soon became apparent that Dolv had a friend who knew about the situation and threatened to reveal the truth. Consequently, Daclif Gallamby hired the Hutt gangster Morgo One-Shot to eliminate Merlyx Dolv's friend. Following these events, the CEC-CSA deal was successfully finalized.

Key figures within the Office of the Diktat included Thrackan Sal-Solo, Gallamby's second in command, and Brantlee Spondoon, the Diktat's aide.

Following the Battle of Yavin, Daclif Gallamby became the target of a scheme orchestrated by a group of former members of the Corellian Security Force, known as the Rogue CorSec. Their goal was to instigate a public political and judicial scandal to depose the Diktat and his administration. The Rogue CorSec initially recruited the Ragtags to smuggle illegal spice into the Capitol building. Subsequently, they installed a remote relay device directly on the Diktat's personal data terminal, which allowed them to send files from a remote location and make them appear as if they originated from the terminal to which the device was connected. The Rogue CorSec then planted orders, seemingly from the Diktat, instructing the Ragtags to smuggle spice into the capitol.

The plan was thwarted when the Ragtags mistakenly smuggled a shipment stolen from businessman Ral Mundi into the Capitol. In 1 ABY, a spacer was recruited by CorSec Lieutenant Mack Jasper to investigate the missing shipment of starship components ordered by Ral Mundi's Starship Emporium. The spacer discovered that the Ragtags had stolen the shipment and transported it into the Capitol. More significantly, the spacer also found the spice. The spacer reported this to Lieutenant Jasper, who decided to investigate the situation. The spacer infiltrated the Capitol and worked for Gallura Handerin and Brantlee Spondoon, the Diktat's aide. During a subsequent mission, the spacer finally uncovered the order from the Diktat to smuggle spice. Consequently, Lieutenant Jasper ordered a search of the Diktat's office, and to Gallamby's surprise, the spacer found the remote relay device. A gadget specialist quickly identified the device and assisted Lieutenant Jasper in locating the transmission's origin. The spacer tracked the signal to the Rogue CorSec Base and infiltrated the base. The spacer downloaded evidence of the Diktat's innocence from the computers and ultimately killed the Rogue CorSec commanders responsible for the plot: Hiram Bish and Mtara Vinram. Upon the spacer's return to the Coronet Capitol, the grateful Diktat Daclif Gallamby awarded the spacer the Corellian Medal for Distinguished Service for their service to him and the government.

As the Galactic Civil War intensified following the Rebel victory at the Battle of Yavin, the Diktat and his government became increasingly paranoid and feared being overthrown by either the Rebellion or their own people. This led the Corellian government to implement strict isolationist measures, restricting trade and traffic throughout the sector, which resulted in the collapse of the Corellian economy.

In the years that followed, the Corellian government's policy, with its focus on the economy, began to diverge from that of the Emperor, which angered Thrackan Sal-Solo, who worked hard to reverse it. He began secretly plotting to overthrow Gallamby. As he gathered support, Sal-Solo was on the verge of ousting the Diktat in 4 ABY when news of the Empire's defeat and Emperor Palpatine's death at the Battle of Endor reached them. The non-human population of the Corellian System, interpreting the absence of an Emperor as the end of the Empire, began to resist the Corellian government, disrupting Sal-Solo's plans and preventing him from removing Gallamby from office.

Following the Battle of Endor, Gallamby's regime maintained its loyalty to the Empire. Within six months of Endor, the Imperial Fleet deployment in the Corellian system had been increased to twenty-five Imperial Star Destroyers under Admiral Jaeffis. This constituted one of the largest fleet deployments in the Core Worlds and was set to be further reinforced with the arrival of Admiral Roek, who was to assume overall command with the Super Star Destroyer Aggressor and five additional Star Destroyers. The Imperials' main objective was to secure the crucial orbital shipyards. In 5 ABY, Corellia briefly became the focal point of the military power struggle within the Empire when Aggressor defected to Grand Admiral Josef Grunger, who was amassing his forces in preparation for an attempt to seize the Imperial throne. Another Grand Admiral, Danetta Pitta, allied himself with Gallamby and took command of the loyalist forces in the sector, using a Torpedo Sphere as his command ship. The ensuing Battle of Tralus decimated both fleets and may have signaled the end of any significant Imperial Navy presence in the sector.

Despite these events, Diktat Gallamby remained in power and continued his policy of inward-looking suspicion. Although the Galactic Empire began to disintegrate after the Battle of Endor, Gallamby's position was initially strengthened by the massive influx of Imperial officers and troops seeking refuge in the Corellian sector. However, without the Emperor's direct protection, the Diktat's government weakened as the resentful Corellian population vehemently protested against the regime. Consequently, the Diktat gradually lost power to the Sacorrian Triad. In 7 ABY, Gallamby reorganized the prestigious Corellian Security Force into the Public Safety Service, an Imperialistic security force and political police tasked with protecting the regime. Yet, the Diktat's restrictive measures appeared to be consistently undermined in practice, with the PSS being more concerned with appearances and minor disturbances than with serious actions.

Ultimately, sometime as early as 13 ABY, the Corellian armed forces and security forces ceased protecting the government from the revolting population. As his position became untenable, the Diktat and other leaders of his regime fled the Corellian system and retreated to the Outlier systems of the Corellian sector, taking half of the planet's treasury with them.

With the sudden disappearance of the Diktat, his designated successor, Thrackan Sal-Solo, was unable to prevent the regime's collapse. The Corellian administration remained in chaos until the New Republic took control of the Corellian sector and installed a Governor-General to replace the Diktat.

In the following years, Imperial loyalists and supporters of Daclif Gallamby continued to wield influence in Corellian politics, forming the basis of the subsequent Human League created by Thrackan Sal-Solo. In 18 ABY, during the Corellian Crisis, the Corellian separatists of the Human League assassinated Governor-General Micamberlecto and seized control of Corellia. Thrackan Sal-Solo proclaimed himself the new Diktat of Corellia as Gallamby's successor, with the aim of re-establishing the previous regime. However, Sal-Solo's reign was short-lived; he was arrested by the New Republic at the end of the Corellian Crisis.

The last Diktat of Corellia was first mentioned in the 1995 novel Ambush at Corellia, the initial installment of the Corellian Trilogy penned by Roger MacBride Allen. The Diktat was identified as Daclif Gallamby in Assault at Selonia, the trilogy's second novel.

Daclif Gallamby was featured as a non-player character (NPC) in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts, before its shutdown on December 15, 2011. Daclif Gallamby was present in the game's original release. Similar to most quest-giving NPCs in the game's early iterations, he offered players a series of "static quests." These quests did not provide any experience and simply involved traveling to a random location to kill or protect one or more NPCs. Gallamby's static quests were eventually removed from the game with the release of "Publish 25," also known as the "New Game Enhancements," on November 15, 2005. With this update, Daclif Gallamby was included in a series of more modern "dynamic quests," becoming a central figure in a new story arc—the Rogue CorSec plot against the Diktat. This questline was later slightly revised with the release of "Publish 27," on February 15, 2006, as the story arc was incorporated into the "Legacy Quest," the game's main questline.
