Skoova Stev was a Sakavian male and a master fisherman who hailed from Sakavi Tar and worked on the planet of Koboh.
Skoova Stev was born on the planet Sakavi Tar and lived in a village for most of his life. During his early years, Skoova would first catch a Mee fish and find his passion for fishing. He would earn a name for himself; so much so that the people of Sakavi Tar thought he was going to be the savior from the Great Fish Famine plaguing the planet. Eventually, he was taken to see Oondun, a large creature who lived in a cave on Sakavi Tar. During his encounter with the creature, Skoova got hit in the head by one of the creature's tentacles. Skoova Stev "learned the art of focus" through the encounter.
While Skoova was on his home planet of Sakavi Tar, the world was under a fish-famine. During the fish-famine, a foreign fishing crew landed on the planet in hopes of finding rare catches. Skoova Stev did not wish for his people to suffer from the foreigners' intrusions, so he made a deal with the group. Skoova would help the group find rare fish, but in return the foreigners could not fish on the planet of Sakavi Tar. The group agreed, and Skoova set off on the Grapnel, a ship captained by Wan'yek Whett.
Right when the Grapnel hit orbit, a barrack ship hailed the Grapnel searching for stolen goods aboard the ship. Whett invited the lawmen inside the Grapnel to investigate, but when they got inside of the ship to do so, Whett used a harpoon to kill them. From then on, Skoova Stev used a harpoon instead of a .
Throughout his time on the Grapnel, Skoova would spear more fish than the whole crew put together. After a year of working with Wan'yek Whett, Skoova finally became Whett's second in command. Just after the promotion, they went to Manaan to deliver goods. But, right when the crew got out of hyperspace, they slammed into a purrgil. It sent them crash landing into Manaan's sea floor where they met a gang of pirate Quarren named the Filthy Zephyrs.
Once Skoova Stev swam out of the sunken ship, he—alongside the rest of the fishing crew—was surrounded by the The Filthy Zephyrs. They demanded that the fishing crew give them all of the fish stored inside the Grapnel. But the crew refused. They began swimming away in the dark waters but were quickly caught and surrounded by the gang. Looking to Wan'yek Whett for guidance, Skoova Stev didn't know what to do. Whett signaled for Skoova to use his harpoon, but just as Skoova was going to, the sparkle of a glumbrig eel caught his eye. To catch the attention of the eels, Skoova Stev attempted to recreate a glumbrig eel mating call. Without realizing, his comm unit was not on, so only he heard the call. However, due to the horrifying expression on Skoova's face, the Quarren dropped their blasters which gave Skoova and the rest of the crew enough time to swim away.
Sometime after the events on Manaan, Skoova Stev was jettisoned into deep space by Captain Whett aboard an escape pod left to die. After some time spent in space, Skoova saw the same purrgil that crash landed the fishing crew onto the planet of Manaan emerge from hyperspace. The purrgil helped Skoova escape the situation by bringing him to an unknown planet. On the planet, Skoova Stev prepared himself to return to Sakavi Tar.
When Skoova Stev finally returned to Sakavi Tar, he found out Wan'yek Whett was fishing in the waters of his home village and taking his prizes off world; breaking the treaty that was previously established. To help save his people from starvation, Skoova went on a search for Wan'yek Whett. And, after months of searching, Skoova finally found Captain Whett on the third moon of Antine fighting a pack of glumbrig eels in the . After years of thinking Skoova dead, Captain Whett speared Skoova through the chest. As Skoova's eyesight started to fade, he made one last effort. He sounded the mating call of the glumbrig eels. Soon, the eels started to swarm Wan'yek Whett and his crew. Captain Whett was cooked alive by the eels' stings. But Skoova Stev's conciousness started to fade.
Skoova Stev floated back up to the surface and awoke to a fisherwoman who helped him survive. The fisherwoman suggested a new world to fish on which contained hundreds of fish: Koboh. So Skoova Stev went, and along the way he learned why he loved fishing. He just loved fish.
In 9 BBY, Skoova Stev was found by Cal Kestis on Koboh who encouraged him to work for Greez Dritus at Pyloon's Saloon. Skoova agreed and worked as a fisherman and tank cleaner for the establishment. He sometimes brought in new fish for the tank in the saloon. Some aquatic creatures he brought to the saloon's tank included see fish, viscid lurkers, fingerlip garpons, barbed hookfish, mee fish, frilled newts, blue-finned crayfish, big-mouth faa, glottsamcrabs, blinding rayfish, snakefish, and Fantailed Laa fish.
After Skoova caught enough fish to fill the aquarium in Pyloon's Saloon, he was worried about Wan'yek Whett's fate. Skoova kept thinking Wan'yek Whett survived their encounter, and, because of that, he left Koboh and returned to Sakavi Tar to check on his people and to make sure Whett was really dead.
Skoova Stev was a master fisherman who was obsessed with his craft. He was known for his wisdom, knowledge, and encouragement if the topic was about fishing. Skoova also had a penchant for making jokes and telling stories, though his repertoire revolved entirely around fish.
Skoova Stev was always equipped with a diving suit in case he ever needed to go fishing. It included flippers and a comlink alongside a waterproof suit and helmet.
Skoova Stev appeared in the Star Wars game Jedi: Survivor, which released on April 28th, 2023. Stev was voiced by JB Blanc.
