Brrang held a position within the Ranc Gang. He was subordinate to both Wenda and Bett until Terex, the ex-stormtrooper, assumed control of the group in 7 ABY. During the Battle over a desert planet, Brrang was in command of the Carrion Spike and the Ranc Gang's squadron of unconventional starfighters known as "Uglies".

During the New Republic Era, Brrang operated as a member of the Ranc Gang. This organization, led by Wenda and Bett, conducted extensive ship salvage operations from their base on Kaddak, a planet situated in the Outer Rim. In 7 ABY, Brrang, along with his Ranc Gang comrades including Wenda, Bett, Zumgi, and Wisper, infiltrated the Rothana Imperial Shipyards with assistance from Terex, a former stormtrooper. After Terex eliminated Wenda, Bett, and the former stormtrooper Corlac for attempting to assassinate him, Brrang and the remaining members of the Ranc Gang shifted their allegiance to Terex, who subsequently became the Lord-General of the Ranc Gang.
When Terex aligned himself with the First Order, Wisper took the reins of the gang. In 34 ABY, Terex made his return to Kaddak with the goal of reclaiming control of the Ranc Gang and using them to obliterate the Resistance, an independent paramilitary group allied with the New Republic. Following Zumgi's execution of Wisper for challenging Terex's authority, Brrang, along with the rest of the gang, reaffirmed their dedication to Terex. Brrang and Zumgi accompanied Terex on board his flagship, the Carrion Spike, as they initiated their pursuit of Poe Dameron, a starfighter pilot from the Resistance who had absconded with the BX-series droid commando N1-ZX. While N1-ZX was supposedly carrying intelligence about the First Order, this was a deception orchestrated by Terex to locate and annihilate the Resistance.
During the chase, Brrang informed Terex that Poe's T-70 X-wing starfighter continued to emit a strong signal even after entering hyperspace. Terex expressed his gratitude to Brrang and instructed Zumgi to prepare the fleet and alert him upon Poe's return to realspace. However, Poe discerned Terex's strategy and exited hyperspace above an desert planet. Brrang then informed Terex that they were in a remote location, devoid of any readings from a base. Brrang deduced that Poe had uncovered their plan and intentionally led them away from the Resistance base. Terex then resolved to eliminate Poe.
When Terex descended to the desert planet to pursue Poe, Brrang was entrusted with the command of the Carrion Spike and Terex's fleet of "Uglies". As Black Squadron, Poe's squadron, arrived to rescue Poe, a Trandoshan pilot notified Brrang of the reinforcements. Brrang identified them as General Leia Organa's covert operations team. With the Trandoshan believing their forces held a superior number, Brrang commanded the Ranc fleet to destroy them in order to please Lord-General Terex.

The Ranc Gang's "Uglies" engaged Black Squadron but proved to be outmatched by the Resistance fighters. Oddy Muva, a Resistance technician and Terex's former spy, liberated Terex's slaves, including his wife Sowa Chuan, and reprogrammed the Carrion Spike's systems to target Terex's "Uglies." Brrang was taken aback and questioned his pilots about the situation. A human pilot responded that they had been locked out of the control systems, while the Trandoshan reported that several escape pods had been launched. Brrang and his crew eventually regained control of the Carrion Spike. The Carrion Spike and the remaining "Uglies" then braced for a final confrontation with Black Squadron. However, the Ranc fleet was decimated by Commander Malarus's Maxima-A class heavy cruiser and TIE/fo space superiority fighters from the First Order, who had been dispatched to apprehend Terex for insubordination. It is presumed that Brrang and his crew perished in the attack.
Brrang made his initial appearance in Poe Dameron 9, a comic from 2016 penned by Charles Soule and brought to life through the illustrations of Phil Noto.
