Capture of Rowan Freemaker

In the year 4 ABY, Rowan Freemaker was seized by the Sith Lord Darth Vader. Following the successful completion of the quest by the Freemaker family to construct the Arrowhead spacecraft, the Rebel Alliance leveraged its power to inflict substantial damage upon Imperial forces.

As a direct consequence, Emperor Palpatine gave Darth Vader and the Imperial hunter droid designated M-OC the assignment to locate, capture, and bring Rowan to him. M-OC successfully tricked Rowan, leading him into a carefully laid trap on the world of Qalydon. However, Darth Vader intervened, stealing M-OC's victory by obliterating the hunter droid and bringing Rowan directly to the Emperor.

Prelude

After the Freemakers threw in their lot with the Rebel Alliance, Rowan Freemaker experienced a Force vision instructing him to construct a formidable vessel known as the Arrowhead, which Quarrie believed possessed the potential to shift the balance in the Galactic Civil War. Subsequent to the Arrowhead's construction, the Freemakers employed it to save the rebel fleet from the Imperial Navy's clutches. The grateful Rebel leadership recognized the Freemakers' efforts and treated them as celebrated heroes.

Partnering with the Alliance, the Freemakers piloted the Arrowhead to destroy multiple AT-AT and AT-ST walkers during the battle on Kashyyyk. Due to their growing reputation with the Alliance command, Rowan's older brother Zander received an invitation to join Lieutenant Colvett Valeria's Blue Squadron, while his older sister Kordi Freemaker was promoted to the Alliance's Strategy Council. Kordi and Zander would later have a crucial role in a devastating raid targeting an Imperial fleet in the vicinity of Alzoc III.

Despite the positive developments for the Freemakers and the Rebel Alliance, Rowan Freemaker began to feel restless due to the lack of excitement. Simultaneously, the Emperor charged his second-in-command Darth Vader and the Imperial hunter droid M-OC with the mission of capturing Rowan and the Arrowhead, as well as recovering the Kyber Saber. Learning of Rowan's friendship with the Lurmen girl named Maynar, M-OC devised a scheme to lure Rowan to the planet Qalydon by impersonating her and falsely claiming that she was in danger. Deceived by the ploy, Rowan journeyed to Qalydon with the reluctant B1-series battle droid Roger, without informing his family.

The trap

Rowan and Roger journeyed to Qalydon aboard the Freemakers' ship, the StarScavenger. Ignoring Roger's cautions, Rowan decided to proceed with the mission. Rowan tracked "Maynar's" signal to an Imperial outpost. While Roger disabled the two stormtroopers guarding the base, Rowan entered, only to discover that "Maynar" was a hologram projected by the "invisible" M-OC.

M-OC and Rowan engaged in a lightsaber duel, but M-OC quickly gained the advantage, drawing on his knowledge of Rowan's fighting style from previous encounters. Rowan managed to escape by using the Force to throw objects at M-OC. Rowan attempted to flee through the base's corridors, but found the blast doors sealed. Meanwhile, M-OC's rival Darth Vader arrived and sliced Roger's legs, incapacitating the droid.

M-OC cornered Rowan in a storage room filled with crates, but Rowan retaliated, attempting to ambush him. However, the hunter droid proved too strong. Before M-OC could apprehend Rowan, Darth Vader intervened, using the Force to hurl M-OC around and ultimately disintegrate him. After beheading M-OC, Lord Vader apprehended Rowan and departed aboard his Lambda-class shuttle.

Aftermath

Despite being separated from his legs, Roger successfully piloted the StarScavenger back to the rebel flagship Home One, where he alerted Zander and Kordi that their brother had been kidnapped.

Meanwhile, Lord Vader brought Rowan to the Emperor. Although Rowan claimed to have destroyed the Kyber Saber, Vader convinced the Emperor to exploit Rowan's abilities to locate more kyber crystals for the second Death Star.

Zander, Kordi, and Roger embarked on a mission to rescue Rowan from the Empire. They utilized the Arrowhead to fight their way to the Imperial Palace on Coruscant, where Roger was being held. Despite rescuing their brother, the Freemakers lost the Arrowhead to M-OC, who had managed to reconstruct himself.
