Vaughn, also known as CT-0292, was a clone originating from the human genetic template of Jango Fett. He held the rank of Clone Captain within the 332nd Company, a component of the 332nd Division, which itself was a part of the larger 501st Legion. This specific unit was under the command of both Clone Commander Rex and Ahsoka Tano, a former Jedi Padawan serving as an Advisor. As a soldier fighting for the Republic Military of the Galactic Republic, Captain Vaughn took part in the Siege of Mandalore. This conflict occurred near the conclusion of the Clone Wars, pitting the allied Mandalore resistance and Galactic Republic against the forces loyal to Maul, a former Sith apprentice. During the siege, Vaughn commanded division troopers in Sundari, the capital city, pursuing Maul's Mandalorian super commandos into the depths of the Undercity.
Vaughn's clone troopers were ambushed, resulting in their deaths, and Vaughn himself met the same end. Ahsoka Tano, who was with the troopers, arrived just in time to witness the captain's last moments. Ultimately, the Republic and Mandalore resistance achieved victory in the siege following their demise.

Vaughn was a clone originating from the human genetic code of the male bounty hunter Jango Fett, and he was created on the planet of Kamino. He was given the designation CT-0292, and this clone eventually achieved the rank of Clone Captain within the Grand Army of the Republic. He served in the 332nd Company, which was part of the 332nd Division within the 501st Legion during the Clone Wars. In 19 BBY, Vaughn participated in the initial attack during the Siege of Mandalore. This was when the combined forces of the Galactic Republic and the Mandalore resistance launched an assault on the city of Sundari located on the planet Mandalore. Their goal was to capture the former Sith apprentice known as Maul. Vaughn survived the initial landing, during which the division successfully secured control of the docks. This effectively trapped Maul and his supporters within the city. Subsequently, the captain and his clone troopers advanced further into the city, sustaining casualties but ultimately forcing Maul's Mandalorian super commandos, led by Gar Saxon, to retreat.
As the battle moved into the Undercity, Vaughn noticed Saxon entering a tunnel and contacted Commander Rex along with Ahsoka Tano, the former Jedi Padawan who was officially acting as an advisor and de facto commander for the Republic forces on Mandalore. After showing Tano the location of Saxon's retreat, the advisor inquired whether the tunnels led outside the city, to which the captain responded that they were unsure. Tano then instructed Vaughn to proceed alongside her, and they led a unit of clones to pursue Maul's escaping super commandos.

Vaughn and his troops carefully advanced through the tunnels. However, when Maul's supporters launched an attack, Vaughn and the squad pursued their attackers deeper into the Undercity, inadvertently leaving Tano behind in their haste. Before the advisor could catch up, the squad became separated and was systematically eliminated, with all [troopers](/article/trooper] ultimately being killed. Vaughn was among the last to survive, but he sustained a critical wound from a blaster shot to the chest. When Tano arrived, she held Vaughn's hand as he uttered his final words, apologizing for his failure. Shortly after Vaughn's passing, Maul and his super commandos cornered Tano. Nevertheless, despite Vaughn's death, the Republic and the Mandalore resistance ultimately emerged victorious from the Siege of Mandalore.
Vaughn, a clone of the bounty hunter Jango Fett, possessed a height of 1.83 meters (6 feet, a weight of eighty kilograms, and tan-toned skin. Even though Ahsoka Tano was no longer a member of the Republic Military, he continued to address her respectfully as "Commander." Furthermore, he customized his armor to resemble her facial markings upon her return to their ranks. His eagerness to engage in combat ultimately led to his demise in the Undercity of Sundari. In his final moments, Vaughn expressed remorse, feeling that he had failed, and apologized to Tano for allowing himself and his troops to be ambushed.
From birth, similar to the other clone troopers, Vaughn had a behavioral modification biochip implanted by Kaminoan scientists. This was done to ensure that the trooper would not disobey specific orders. Vaughn wore Phase II clone trooper armor adorned with the blue markings of the 501st Legion, along with a customized helmet featuring a stylized representation of Ahsoka Tano's facial tattoos, which also covered his visor. During his time on Mandalore, he was equipped with a DC-15A blaster rifle and a jetpack. His helmet and shoulder armor also included integrated antennae. Additionally, he carried a DC-15A blaster carbine. His helmet featured a modified chin extension and dark red lines, distinguishing it from the color used for the stylized face of Tano. While searching the Undercity for Saxon and his forces, Vaughn attached a light attachment to his helmet. He also wore a rank insignia plaque on his chest armor.

Vaughn made his debut appearance in "Old Friends Not Forgotten," which was the ninth episode of the canon animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars' seventh season. This episode was initially broadcast on April 17, 2020. The character was initially showcased in a promotional poster for the season, which was shared by the official Star Wars Twitter account on January 22, 2020.
Dee Bradley Baker provided the voice for Vaughn in the episode, along with all the other clone troopers featured in the series. According to concept art created by Kilian Plunkett on June 25, 2018, their character model was adapted from that of Commander Cody, who also appeared in the ninth episode. Furthermore, Vaughn's name is spelled as "Vaughan" in the episode guide's concept gallery on StarWars.com. However, the guide's episode gallery also refers to him by the former name, and the spelling of his name in the episode's subtitles matches the spelling "Vaughn." Artist Marissa Bernstel created storyboards for scenes featuring Vaughn while under contract at Lucasfilm Animation, which were then later sent to animators for the animation process.
The 2023 LEGO set 75359 332nd Ahsoka's Clone Trooper Battle Pack inaccurately portrays Vaughn without any of the dark red markings on his helmet. Additionally, the rank plaque on his chest is depicted entirely with blue tiles, whereas the plaque in canon media also includes red and gray tiles.
