Duel on the Wheel

During their quest for the Kyber Saber Crystals, a fierce battle unfolded on the Wheel between Naare, the Sith agent, and Rowan Freemaker, who possessed Force-sensitive abilities. To draw Rowan out of hiding, Naare had previously tortured Zander and Kordi Freemaker, Rowan's older siblings. Rowan, utilizing his improved lightsaber skills and Jedi instruction, fought Naare to a stalemate. However, Naare extracted the location of the seventh Kyber Saber crystal from Roger and departed the garage with the head of the B1-series battle droid.

Prelude

Despite having secured six of the seven Kyber Saber crystals, Naare was unable to reassemble the ancient lightsaber because Rowan Freemaker and his family had escaped into the vastness of space with the final crystal. Her Sith master, Emperor Palpatine, demanded that she deliver the weapon to him no later than Empire Day. While waiting aboard Rancor's Fist, the flagship of her ally, the Hutt crime lord Graballa, Naare and Graballa received information from Garindan, the Kubaz spy, that Zander and [Kordi Freemaker](/article/kordi_freemaker/lego], Rowan's older siblings, had been spotted on Tatooine.

Following Rowan and the B1-series battle droid, Roger, fleeing with the seventh crystal to an uncharted world, Zander and Kordi traversed numerous planets in their search for their younger brother. After failing to locate him, they returned to their garage located on the Wheel space station. Upon their arrival, they were greeted by Furlac, their Aqualish landlord, who reminded them that their rent was past due and demanded recompense for the damages to their door.

Shortly thereafter, Naare, Graballa, and his henchmen arrived at the Freemaker Garage and took Kordi and Zander as prisoners. Naare resorted to emotionally torturing Zander and Kordi by destroying several of their prized possessions, including his Z-wing ships such as the Blazemaker and the StarScavenger, and Kordi's Credits, in an effort to force Rowan out of hiding. While Rowan was training offworld with his lightsaber, he sensed the pain of his siblings. Despite Roger's warning that Naare was setting a trap, Rowan made his way back to rescue his family.

The skirmish

Just before Naare could torture Kordi and Zander with her lightsaber, Rowan and Roger returned to the Wheel in the Mini Scavenger. The pair then jumped onto a platform, where Rowan challenged Naare to a fight. Dengar, the bounty hunter, fired at Rowan, but the boy deflected his blasts towards the chains binding Zander and Kordi, thus freeing them. A fight then erupted in the Freemaker Garage, with Kordi and Zander firing at Graballa's henchmen.

Rowan, refusing to surrender the last Kyber Saber crystal, engaged Naare in a lightsaber fight. At Rowan's command, Roger released several pieces of debris from the StarScavenger onto the Sith. However, Naare used the Force to sweep them away. In the meantime, Zander trapped Baash and Raam, the Iktotchi bounty hunters, under a magnetizer. Kordi then ensnared Dengar's bandages in a turbofan, but the bounty hunter managed to escape by firing at the machine.

As the battle raged on, Rowan informed Naare that he had hidden the seventh Kyber Saber on an uncharted planet. Graballa attempted to persuade Baash and Raam to release their hold, but the two Iktotchi were unwilling to relinquish their blasters. Zander then fired a gas canister at the Hutt, causing him to crash into the two Iktotchi. Rowan deflected Naare's attacks, utilizing his lightsaber skills. When Naare demanded to know who had trained the boy, Roger revealed that he had taught the boy everything.

Naare then came to the realization that Roger knew the location of the seventh Kyber Saber crystal and stole the droid's head. She then used debris to pin down Rowan and his siblings. Believing they had triumphed, Graballa then insisted that Naare honor their earlier agreement and share half of the Kyber Saber crystals with them. However, Naare revealed that she had been deceiving them and used her Force powers to drive them out of the garage. Naare then departed with Roger's head aboard the Eclipse Fighter in order to locate the seventh Kyber Saber crystal.

Aftermath

The Duel on the Wheel resulted in extensive damage to the Freemaker Garage and the Freemaker's starships, including the StarScavenger. The Freemakers survived the duel, but were left to grapple with the kidnapping of Roger's head and the knowledge that Naare now knew the location of the seventh Kyber Saber crystal. Despite feeling despondent, Rowan refused to give up. After repairing the Garage and their starships, Rowan devised a plan to steal the Kyber Saber from Naare. This set the stage for a skirmish on Coruscant.
