Biography

War leader

Iasento (left) was a tribal and military leader of the Mimbanese people.

Before the Clone Wars, Elder Iasento was the Mimbanese leader of a tribe in the Nanth flatlands on his homeworld, Mimban. In 22 BBY during the wars, the Confederacy of Independent Systems invaded the planet to mine hyperbaride minerals. The Mimbanese fought back, joining forces with the Galactic Republic's Grand Army, who were enemies of the Separatists. Clone troopers from the 224th Division armed and trained Iasento and his people to fight the Separatists, promising them freedom after the invaders were defeated.

Even though the Separatists were defeated in the Clone Wars in 19 BBY, Mimban's mineral deposits were valuable to the Republic's successor, the Galactic Empire. The Empire ordered that the mines remain open, with Imperial Moff Bin Essada demanding that Mimban be stripped of all resources. Iasento and the Mimbanese resisted the Empire's mining as the Mimbanese Liberation Army, which Iasento led during the Imperial pacification campaign by the 224th Imperial Armored Division against the natives. The fighting lasted for decades, and ground combat turned much of the world into muddy terrain.

Criminal casualty

In 10 BBY, Tobias Beckett, an outlaw, led a criminal gang that infiltrated the Imperial Army on Mimban to steal an Y-45 armored transport hauler. While disguised as an Imperial captain, Beckett encountered Iasento near the Imperial Camp Forward as the Empires forces were trying to push toward a Mimbanese-controlled ridge.

As Iasento charged alone toward the criminal, Beckett shot the elder in the chest with a RSKF-44 heavy blaster and killed him. This provided cover for his gang to reach an Imperial trench. Eventually, the Empire defeated the Mimbanese on Mimban. Iasento was featured in an artist's journal, which the Graf Archive restored, expanded, and displayed sometime after 34 ABY.

Personality and traits

Iasento understood the Empire's tactics because he had received Republic training during the Clone Wars. The Mimbanese started using camouflage to hide in the increasingly muddy battlefields. Iasento would let Imperial forces advance before using the camouflage to have his forces attack with coordinated aggression from hidden positions and tunnels among the ruins of their villages. Iasento had red skin and blue eyes. He was 1.9 meters (six foot, three inches) tall.

Equipment

Iasento wore traditional red garments including a flak jacket and mud-covered combat fatigues with woven reed armor panels over them. Patches of dried sedge grass were attached to the outfit as camouflage in Mimban's sparse underbrush. He wore repurposed Imperial army boots and Republic Era equipment such as the infrared and sonar pulse detectors on his cross strapped sensor headband, the comms unit on his left shoulder, and the combat webbing across his torso. He fought with a modified BlasTech F-78 blaster rifle with a vibroblade attachment.

Behind the scenes

Iasento's first appearance was in the 2018 Anthology film, Solo: A Star Wars Story. He was first identified in Solo: A Star Wars Story The Official Guide, a reference book by Pablo Hidalgo.
