Nib Assek

During the High Republic Era, Nib Assek, a female human, served the Jedi Order as a Jedi Knight. To better instruct her Padawan, the Wookiee known as Burryaga Agaburry, she undertook the task of learning Shyriiwook. Assek and her apprentice were involved in the mission to rescue the Hetzal system from the dangers of hyperspace anomalies, working together in a Jedi Vector.

Biography

A Force-sensitive female human, Nib Assek, became a member of the Jedi Order and rose to the rank of Jedi Knight. She eventually took on the uncommon task of training Burryaga Agaburry, a Wookiee initiate, as her Padawan, and she dedicated herself to learning the Shyriiwook language to enhance his education in the Force.

In 232 BBY, Assek and Burryaga were present at a conclave held aboard the newly constructed Starlight Beacon space station, bringing together the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic. Subsequently, they were included among the dignitaries who received an extensive tour of the station led by its administrator, Shai Tennem. During the tour, the group encountered technicians Joss and Pikka Adren, who were urgently attempting to discreetly locate a flaw Pikka had discovered in the station's power systems. Unaware, Tennem tried to involve the Adrens in the tour; however, Burryaga detected their distress regarding the situation and alerted Assek. She promptly suggested that the Adrens be allowed to continue their important work, enabling the couple to identify and resolve the issue before the Beacon experienced a complete power failure.

Afterward, Assek and her apprentice were among the many who departed the space station aboard the Republic cruiser Third Horizon. However, as the starship traveled through hyperspace, a distress signal emanating from the Hetzal system was detected, causing the ship to change course to provide assistance. A rescue team was assembled from the passengers of the Third Horizon, and Assek and Burryaga operated a two-seater Jedi Jedi Vector, with Assek at the controls. The threat to the Hetzal system consisted of substantial amounts of debris that had been ejected from hyperspace at high velocities, endangering all of the system's inhabited planets. During the rescue operation, Assek and Burryaga collaborated with two additional Vectors piloted by Jedi Knights Mikkel Sutmani and Te'Ami, as well as a Longbeam cruiser flown by the Adrens, on a crucial mission to destroy a piece of debris headed towards the main landmass of Hetzal Prime's Fruited Moon.

Te'Ami assumed leadership of the mission, taking control of the weapons systems of all four ships as the Jedi connected their minds. However, Burryaga seemed to struggle with maintaining focus, so Assek and the other Jedi released him from the link to allow them to proceed. Just before they were about to fire, Burryaga stopped the attempt, and Assek translated her apprentice's words into Galactic Basic Standard, explaining that they could not target the approaching debris because it was a fragment of a starship with living beings still aboard. Te'Ami then relayed this information to Avar Kriss, who was coordinating the system-wide rescue efforts.
