The Rancor's Fist is seen looming above Takodana.
The Hutt Graballa, who is the cousin of Jabba Desilijic Tiure, owned the starship called the Rancor's Fist. It wasn't just a ship; it was also Graballa's mobile command center. This vessel accommodated his crew and a number of starfighters. In the aftermath of the Battle of Hoth, the Rancor's Fist played a role in the pursuit of the Freemakers during their quest for the Kyber Saber crystals.
The Rancor's Fist was a sizable, trapezium-shaped starship. It featured wings on either side, each equipped with heavy turbo laser cannons. These cannons could be angled and fired during orbital bombardments or in space combat, particularly when chasing enemy ships. This vessel functioned as both the flagship and the mobile base of operations for Graballa, the Hutt crime lord. A significant number of starfighters were housed on the Rancor's Fist, and it also provided transportation for his henchmen. Inside the starship, one could find Graballa's throne room, complete with a trapdoor leading to a Nexu named Smiley. The Rancor's Fist possessed the capability for hyperspace travel, although its engines were vulnerable to damage from seawater. Besides Graballa, the ship also housed notable figures such as the bounty hunters Dengar, Baash, Raam, and Yeppau, a Toydarian servant.
For a period spanning two centuries prior to the Battle of Hoth, Graballa held the position of manager at a desolate ore mine located in the Belgaroth asteroid field. During this time, the Rancor's Fist served as both his headquarters and his flagship. Following the Battle of Hoth, Graballa sought financial assistance from his affluent relative, Jabba, with the intention of constructing a resort and buffet by the beach. However, Jabba showed no interest and declined Graballa's request for a loan.
Later on, Baash and [Raam](/article/raam], who were members of Graballa's "think tank," extended an invitation to two bounty hunters to come aboard the Rancor's Fist. These bounty hunters were revealed to be Rowan Freemaker, who possessed Force-sensitive abilities, and his B1-series battle droid companion, Roger. Graballa and his associates soon uncovered the true identities of Rowan and Roger. Upon learning about the Kyber Saber crystal, Graballa recognized an opportunity to amass wealth and demanded that Rowan guide him to additional crystals. When Rowan refused, Graballa gave the order to have Rowan and Roger served as food to his pet Nexu, Smiley.
Before Graballa could carry out his plan to eliminate Rowan and Roger, the boy's older sister, Kordi, and older brother, Zander Freemaker, entered the throne room and attempted to persuade the Hutt to purchase a Z-wing ship. While Graballa's attention was diverted, their "Jedi" friend, Naare, successfully freed Rowan and Roger. Following a confrontation, the Freemakers and Naare made their escape aboard the Z-wing, creating a breach in the throne room's window. Only Graballa's substantial body mass prevented his entourage from being drawn out into the vacuum of space. Graballa instructed Dengar to lead a squadron of starfighters in pursuit of them, but Naare used the Force to summon asteroids to crush the pursuing fighters. After this ordeal, Graballa tasked Dengar, Baash, and Raam with the mission of tracking down the mysterious boy.
After escaping Cloud City prison, Dengar and his fellow bounty hunters made their way back to the Rancor's Fist. Graballa had been too absorbed in lobbying Jabba for funds to secure the release of his employees from jail. However, the Hutt crime lord was pleased to discover that Dengar had uncovered Rowan's identity after acquiring one of the Freemakers' business cards. Graballa attempted to ensnare the Freemakers on the desert planet of Tatooine, but they managed to escape with the assistance of Naare, who subsequently presented herself as a Sith agent working for the Galactic Empire.
Subsequently, Graballa formed an alliance with Naare to pursue the Freemakers in exchange for a share of the Kyber Saber crystals. As part of this agreement, the Rancor's Fist provided firepower support for Naare's starship, the Eclipse Fighter, during their pursuit of the Freemakers. Using the transmission pack from the battle droid Roger as a homing beacon, Naare followed the Freemakers to Takodana, Ningoth, and Naboo, successfully stealing the fourth, fifth, and sixth Kyber Saber crystals. On Ningoth, the engines of the Rancor's Fist were inundated with seawater after the escaping Freemakers' ship, the StarScavenger's hyperspace jump, triggered a tsunami. This incident led to some discord between Graballa and Naare, with Graballa expressing resentment over having to cover the repair costs.
After the Freemakers discovered their tracking method and deactivated Roger's transmission pack, Naare and Graballa were unable to locate them. While awaiting Rowan's reappearance on the Rancor's Fist, Naare and Graballa received communications from the Emperor and Jabba, respectively. Both expressed their dissatisfaction with their superiors, who belittled and mocked them. After Roger reattached his transmission pack in an attempt to rescue his masters and their friend Jek-14 from being killed by mutinous droids led by N-3RO, Naare and Graballa took the Rancor's Fist to the planet Zoh. They proceeded to bombard the junkyard world but failed to prevent the Freemakers from escaping into hyperspace.
The Rancor's Fist, along with the Eclipse Fighter and Dengar's starfighter, pursued the Freemakers to the icy planet of Hoth. Due to limited visibility in the snowy storm, the Rancor's Fist and its companion ships crashed into a mountain, while the StarScavenger managed to escape without damage. The ship survived the collision, but it became trapped in the snow. While Graballa and Naare discussed their next course of action, Graballa's minions, including Baash, Raam, and Yeppau, worked to free the ship from the snow. Later, the Rancor's Fist was used to attack the Freemakers at Echo Base. Kordi's refurbished AT-AT walker shot down the Rancor's Fist, causing it to crash into an ice lake. The impact released the frozen StarScavenger from its icy prison, allowing the Freemakers to escape offworld with the seventh Kyber Saber crystal.
After leaving Hoth, Graballa informed Naare that his spy network was searching for the Freemakers. Frustrated by the loss of the seventh Kyber Saber crystal on Hoth, Naare lost her temper and used the Force to hurl Graballa and his henchmen against the wall. While Naare was meditating, Graballa received news from Yeppau that the Kubaz spy Garindan had spotted Zander and Kordi on Tatooine. At Naare's request, Graballa brought the Rancor's Fist to the Wheel in the Abrion system. Naare subjected Zander and Kordi to torture and managed to lure Rowan out of hiding. Despite a fierce battle, Naare learned that Roger possessed knowledge of the location of the last Kyber Saber crystal and stole the battle droid's head. She then betrayed Graballa and his henchmen.
Subsequently, Graballa and his henchmen retaliated against Naare by freezing her in carbonite. To alleviate the disappointment of losing the Kyber Saber, Graballa had her carbonite frozen body displayed in his throne room aboard the Rancor's Fist.
Graballa and his henchmen journeyed to Mygeeto with the hope of securing investors for his beachside resort and buffet. During their visit to the Mygeeto Auction House, they left the Rancor's Fist docked at the local spaceport. After Baash and Raam inadvertently bid on a Theta-class H-2 executive star shuttle, an enraged Graballa returned to the Rancor's Fist, where he reprimanded his minions for their incompetence. Shortly afterward, Kordi Freemaker, now a Rebel Alliance operative disguised as the Clawdite princess Alo Kortessi, visited the Rancor's Fist in an attempt to exchange the Theta-class shuttle for an Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptor.
Believing that "Princess Kortessi" was wealthy, Graballa kidnapped Kordi and attempted to demand a ransom from the Clawdite royal family. While Graballa's henchmen, Dengar, Baash, and Raam, were occupied with fighting off Kordi's brothers, Rowan and Zander, "Kortessi" gained favor with Graballa and offered her services as a business advisor. She persuaded Graballa to implement energy-efficient lighting, lower the thermostat, and reduce his retinue. Rowan and Zander subsequently landed in the ship's hangar. Following a brief skirmish with Dengar, the Freemakers managed to escape, but Zander's Eta-2 light interceptor was destroyed. Graballa then had to deal with an employment dispute with Dengar, Baash, and Raam. Shortly afterward, Graballa's cousin, Jabba, informed him that Darth Vader was seeking his mining expertise to acquire more kyber crystals for the second Death Star.
