Talmoor Pryce

Talmoor Pryce was a male human from Lothal, making him a Lothalite. He was the husband of Elainye Pryce and the father of Arihnda Pryce. He and Elainye were the owners of Pryce Mining, a company that their daughter managed. After Governor Ryder Azadi and Senator Domus Renking used deceit to give the Galactic Empire control of their mine, Talmoor and Elainye relocated to the planet Batonn.

They resided there for a number of years and became involved in the Batonn insurgency. The pair survived due to the actions of their daughter, Pryce, but her intervention resulted in numerous casualties during the Siege of the Creekpath Mining and Refining complex.

Biography

Early life

Talmoor Pryce, along with his wife Elaine and their daughter Arihnda, made their home on the planet of Lothal. The Pryce family held ownership of both a mine and a mining business known as Pryce Mining. Throughout his life, he was employed within the family's mining operation. By the time a doonium deposit was discovered within their mine, both he and Elainye had transitioned to a less hands-on approach in managing the mine, entrusting their daughter Arihnda with the responsibility of handling executive decisions.

Losing Pryce Mining

During the Imperial Era, Ryder Azadi, who was Governor, became aware of the doonium deposit in the Pryce family mine and dispatched Arik Uvis, one of his staff members, to acquire a controlling interest in Pryce Mining. Recognizing Azadi's intentions to seize control of their company, Arihnda Pryce declined his offer and instructed him to leave. In response, Governor Azadi orchestrated the arrest of Talmoor's wife, Elainye, on fabricated charges of embezzlement.

Unable to secure Elainye's release on bail, Arihnda sought assistance from Domus Renking, a Senator. To thwart Governor Azadi's takeover of Pryce Mining, Renking persuaded Arihnda to transfer ownership of her family's firm to the Galactic Empire. Arihnda and Renking also succeeded in clearing Elainye's name by shifting the blame onto Pomi Harchmak, the Lutrillian heavy equipment inventory operations manager. As compensation for the loss of Pryce Mining, Renking proposed offering Arihnda a position as a senatorial staff member on Coruscant and providing her parents with mining jobs on the planet Batonn.

Faced with limited options, Arihnda reluctantly consented to sell Pryce Mining to the Empire. After securing Elainye's release, Arihnda spent the subsequent three hours convincing Talmoor and Elainye to accept Renking's offer and explaining the potential consequences of refusing it. Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, Talmoor and Elainye complied and reluctantly departed from their home and mining business. While Arihnda relocated to Coruscant to work in one of Renking's citizen assistance offices, Talmoor and Elainye secured employment as the new foreman and assistance manager, respectively, at the Creekpath Mining and Refining complex.

Batonn crisis

In the years that followed, Talmoor and Elainye adjusted to their new circumstances and established a comfortable home. Meanwhile, their daughter Arihnda ascended to the position of Lothal's new Governor after aiding Imperial authorities in uncovering the spy ring of the rebel leader Nightswan on Coruscant. Upon returning to Lothal, Arihnda sought retribution against Senator Renking by divesting Pryce Mining and exposing his involvement in bribery during a bidding war between Lothal and Kintoni to host Imperial Navy docking facilities.

Before 2 BBY, Nightswan assumed leadership of the Batonn insurgents, who garnered widespread support among the local populace due to the corruption of Governor Restos. The Batonn insurgents attacked and captured the Imperial garrison stationed on Scrim Island. Although the insurgents were ultimately defeated by Admiral Thrawn, seven ships managed to evacuate personnel and equipment to the Creekpath mining complex on Batonn's main continent.

The insurgents expelled the Batonn Defense Force personnel guarding the mine and established a base within its confines. In response, the Empire and Batonn Defense Force imposed a siege around the mining complex. Despite Talmoor and Elainye residing within the complex, Talmoor sympathized with the insurgents' grievances and attributed the conflict to the incompetence of Governor Restos.

Reunion with Arihnda

Concerned for the well-being of her parents, Arihnda traveled undercover to Batonn accompanied by Gudry, an Agent from the Imperial Security Bureau. Adopting the alias "Mattai," Gudry claimed to be searching for a mechanic friend who had been caught up in the mining siege. In reality, his mission was to plant explosives to disable the insurgents' DSS-02 regional shield. Unaware of Gudry's true intentions, Talmoor asserted that everyone in the mine was there of their own volition, fighting for people's rights against a repressive and dangerous government.

When Pryce suggested that he was painting the Empire with "too wide a brush," Elainye highlighted the corruption of Governor Restos. Pryce pledged to investigate the matter, but Talmoor countered that the events on Batonn constituted a "revolution." When Gudry mentioned hearing stories of people being press-ganged by pirates and insurgents, Talmoor offered to help Gudry navigate the cordon and inquired about the man's name. Gudry claimed the man was named Blayze Jonoo and that he was a weapons electronics specialist.

Talmoor guided Pryce and Gudry to the Creekpath mine. Before departing, Pryce secretly switched her mother's comm. Leveraging his connections with the miners, Talmoor facilitated his daughter and Gudry's passage through the cordon. During the journey, Talmoor briefed Arihnda on the crisis, attributing it to Governor Restos's failure to deploy soldiers to guard the mine. He added that the insurgents had managed to secure the DSS-02 shield generator before the operators had time to sabotage it.

Knowing that Gudry planned to blow up the mine, Arihnda hid inside a speeder truck and used her mother's comm to impersonate Elainye and feign sickness in order to draw her father home. Talmoor fell for his daughter's ruse and roused Arihnda. Arihnda managed to get Gudry's permission to leave by telling her that the mine had Makrid String crates. Talmoor reluctantly agreed to leave Gudry in the mine to search for his non-existent friend.

Escaping destruction

Upon Talmoor and Arihnda's return home, he realized that Arihnda had feigned Elainye's sickness but accepted his daughter's explanation that she needed to get away from "Mattai." When Pryce warned that the Empire was going to attack the mine, Talmoor tried to calm by saying that the governor would not dare deploy his troops to use against "them." Arihnda then claimed that the Imperial task force had orders to neutralize the insurgents in Creekpath.

Responding to his daughter's warning, Talmoor convinced Elainye that they had to pack up and leave. He reluctantly accepted having to leave without their colleagues in the mine. Before they could leave, a vindictive Gudry returned and revealed that he had planted remote detonators on both the explosives cache and shield generator. Arihnda pleaded with Gudry to let her parents come along but the ISB agent claimed that they they would draw attention. Following a struggle, Arihnda killed Gudry with the agent's blaster.

By the time Talmoor, Elainye, and Arihnda were approaching the insurgents' outer picket line, shooting had broken out to the north and west of the Creekpath complex. In fact, Admiral Thrawn had ordered the Imperial ground forces to strafe the insurgents until the shield was down. While Talmoor and his wife went ahead, Arihnda stayed behind and planted an explosive below a bulldozer in order to distract the insurgents. In the process, Arihnda killed a sentry but claimed that the man had been struck by shrapnel.

Thanks to Arihnda's efforts, her parents safely reached the Imperial lines and sought refuge in Major Talmege's headquarters. In her parent's absence, Arihnda detonated Gudry's detonator which had been planted in Nightswan's cache in order to destroy evidence of her role in killing Gudry. The ensuing explosion killed all insurgents inside the deflector shield radius but also killed numerous civilians and the Imperial troops that Colonel Wullf Yularen had sent to rescue Arihnda. While Talmoor and Elainye expressed horror at the high death rate, their daughter blamed the bombing on the insurgents. Unaware of Arihnda's hand in the explosion, Talmoor and Elainye accepted their daughter's explanation.

Following the defeat of the Batonn insurgents, Pryce instructed a pilot to take her parents to the Paeragosto City landing field where a transport called the Duggenhei was waiting. From there, the couple departed on a chartered flight to the Governor's Mansion on the Pryce homeworld of Lothal. Arihnda also made arrangements for her parents to be put in one of the guest suites. Meanwhile, Arihnda stayed behind and claimed that Gudry had detonated the explosives in order to prevent himself from being captured by the insurgents.

Personality and traits

Talmoor Pryce was a man of human descent, characterized by his gray hair and blue eyes. He possessed extensive experience as a miner, demonstrating composure and decisiveness in numerous mining-related crises. However, the arrest of his wife, Elainye, on fabricated embezzlement charges deeply unsettled Talmoor. Similar to Arihnda, Talmoor and Elainye reluctantly accepted Senator Renking's proposal to cede Pryce Mining to the Empire to prevent Governor Azadi from seizing control of their company.

During the Batonn crisis, Talmoor voiced his sympathy for the Batonn insurgents, whom he viewed as revolutionaries fighting against a repressive and dangerous government. He attributed the crisis to the self-indulgent behavior of Governor Restos. While his daughter Arihnda continued to perceive the Empire as a force for good, Talmoor and Elainye's faith in the Empire was shaken by the high civilian death rate during the Siege of the Creekpath mining complex. They remained unaware that their daughter had orchestrated the bombing to conceal her involvement in Agent Gudry's death.

Talmoor harbored deep affection for his family, including his wife Elainye and daughter Arihnda. Arihnda exploited Talmoor's love for Elainye by fabricating a comm message to escape from Gudry. While Arihnda cared for her parents, she was willing to jeopardize the lives of others, including Gudry and the civilians in Creekpath, to ensure their safety.
