The Wren Stronghold, situated on the icy planet of Krownest, served as the ancestral grounds for the distinguished Wren clan of Mandalorians. This impressive structure, composed of steel and glass, showcased a blend of size and simplicity, embodying the honor, flexibility, and architectural skill of the Mandalorian culture. Positioned on the edge of a frozen lake and enveloped by trees and mountains, the stronghold seamlessly integrated into the surrounding snow-covered environment. During the Galactic Empire's rule, this location became the center of power for the clan, with Ursa Wren, the leader, residing there, protected by many soldiers and starfighters.

The Wren Stronghold was a sizable estate erected on Krownest, a planet characterized by its freezing temperatures and snowy landscapes, found within the Outer Rim region of the galaxy, specifically within the borders of Mandalorian space. The magnificent complex, constructed with steel and glass in a minimalist style, was located on the edge of a frozen lake, surrounded by trees and mountains. It harmoniously merged with Krownest's snowy scenery, demonstrating the Mandalorian people's adaptability and design prowess. The stronghold was defended by various members of Clan Wren along with a contingent of Fang-class starfighters.
Access to the Wren Stronghold was granted via staircases positioned on either end of its lakeside facade. Inside, the stronghold contained communication systems and training areas for Clan Wren members. The complex also featured a vast great hall, complete with a long dining table and an elaborate throne for the clan's leader. The great hall's decor included various chandeliers, wall-mounted lighting, several potted plants, and a portrait of the leader of Clan Wren displayed prominently above the throne. A small balcony extending from the front of the great hall offered views of the adjacent lake.

The Wren Stronghold represented the long-standing home of Clan Wren, a renowned lineage of Mandalorian warriors. During the Imperial Era under the Galactic Empire, the stronghold functioned as the clan's center of authority and served as the residence for the leader, Ursa Wren, her son Tristan, and other Clan Wren members. In 2 BBY, Sabine Wren, Ursa's estranged daughter, traveled to the Wren Stronghold with a group of allies—including the Jedi Kanan Jarrus and Ezra Bridger—seeking to enlist her clan in the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire. Despite initial tensions, Ursa Wren welcomed Sabine and her companions into the complex, although the Jedi had to surrender their lightsabers before entering the Mandalorians' abode.
While Sabine endeavored to secure an alliance with her mother, even presenting her with the Darksaber—an age-old symbol of Mandalorian power that she had recently retrieved from Maul, the former Sith Lord—Ursa opted to offer the Jedi to the Empire in exchange for amnesty for both her daughter and Clan Wren, secretly contacting the Imperial Viceroy of Mandalore. Shortly thereafter, Viceroy Gar Saxon arrived at the Wren Stronghold with a contingent of Imperial Super Commandos, and it was there that the Empire's puppet ruler revealed his intention to betray Ursa and kill Clan Wren along with the Jedi. Combat ensued in the great hall between the Imperial-aligned super commandos and the Jedi-backed Clan Wren forces, resulting in the deaths of numerous super commandos. Saxon and Sabine Wren engaged in single combat that spilled onto the nearby frozen lake. Sabine was victorious, but Ursa ultimately killed Saxon, shooting the Imperial governor as he attempted to shoot Sabine in the back after she chose to spare his life. Although the Jedi later left Krownest, Sabine decided to stay with her clan at the Wren Stronghold to continue the Mandalorians' fight against the Empire. Following Gar Saxon's death, civil war erupted between Clans Wren and Saxon.
During the Empire's devastating attack on the rebellion's base on Atollon, Ezra Bridger returned to Krownest to once again seek Clan Wren's assistance against the Empire. At the Wren Stronghold, Bridger informed the Mandalorians about the Imperial assault, only to learn of the conflict between Clan Wren and the Imperial-aligned Clan Saxon. Despite their stretched resources, Ursa Wren allowed her daughter Sabine and a group of Wren volunteers to leave Krownest with Bridger to reinforce the besieged rebels on Atollon. The Mandalorian volunteers arrived in the Atollon system shortly after, and their efforts led to the destruction of the Imperial Interdictor vessel over Atollon, enabling numerous rebel ships and personnel to escape the planet and continue fighting the Empire.
The Wren Stronghold made its debut in Star Wars canon in "Legacy of Mandalore," the sixteenth episode of the Star Wars Rebels animated television series' third season, which premiered on February 18, 2017.
The aesthetic of the Wren Stronghold in Star Wars Rebels was heavily inspired by the architectural style of Frank Loyd Wright's "Prairie" design. The portrait of Ursa Wren displayed in the stronghold's great hall was created in a style reminiscent of the renowned artist Gustav Klimt.
