B-333

B-333, also known as Bee-Triple-Three or Big Bee, was a droid who worked alongside the black market smuggler Argomon. By 229 BBY, they joined the droid 5A-G3's spy network to work against the Nihil marauders in conjunction with the efforts of the Republic and the Jedi Order, often transporting supplies in their hauler to the Nihil prison ship Korvix Vorn. That year, B-333 and Argomon planted a tracking device on the Korvix Vorn, with the droid remaining behind on the Nihil ship as part of an eventual plot to sabotage the vessel.

Not long afterward, in 228 BBY, the Jedi and Republic Defense Coalition launched raid on the prison ship after the tracking device pinpointed the vessel's location, hoping to rescue the prisoners trapped aboard. After 5A-G3 and Argomon helped a boarding party secure the prison ship's topside cannons, the pair rigged the Korvix Vorn to explode before leeing from the vessel with B-333. After returning to the planet Eriadu, B-333 enjoyed playing games with several of their colleagues.

B-333, also known as Bee-Triple-Three or Big Bee, was a droid who worked alongside the black market smuggler Argomon during the High Republic Era. Following the destruction of the Starlight Beacon space station in 230 BBY, B-333 became part of the droid 5A-G3's spy network against the Nihil marauders following the group's formation of the Occlusion Zone, a region of space sealed behind a seemingly impenetrable barrier called the Stormwall that only Nihil ships could pass through.

As part of this, B-333 and Argomon crossed over the Stormwall several times to make supply runs of illicit goods to the Nihil. While operating under the guise of tolerating the marauders, they sometimes transported goods to the prison ship Korvix Vorn. B-333 cultivated a contact aboard the vesselJedi Knight Farzala Tarabal, one of its prisoners—whom he collaborated with to pass information to 5A-G3. In 229 BBY, B-333 learned that the Korvix Vorn planned to make a supply run outside the Occlusion Zone in the near future and reported the information to 5A-G3 upon returning to the Republic outpost on the Outer Rim planet Eriadu. After 5A-G3 introduced the droid to several Jedi and Galactic Republic colleagues and explained his work, B-333 repeated what he had found out.

As the others began to converse about the Korvix Vorn, B-333 continued mumbling to himself, repeatedly expressing his sharp dislike for the prison ship—a vessel he found dilapidated and miserable—and pleasure at having left it behind. 5A-G3 then dispatched B-333 and Argomon to place a tracking device on the Korvix Vorn to help Republic and Jedi forces pinpoint the next time it left the Occlusion Zone. B-333 remained anxious about the endeavor, panicking as Argomon gleefully accelerated their hauler's speed. The pilot reassured the droid that the Nihil would always let them across the Stormwall, though the latter remained worried. As they approached the Korvix Vorn, Argomon reminded B-333 of his role in their endeavor, and when he expressed confusion, the pilot clarified that he would not stop talking when he was nervous, which would serve as a distraction.

After arriving, Argomon delivered several boxes of regenerative mycopram substance to the Nihil scientist Niv Drendow Apruk while Apruk's young Nameless creature—Deblindrix III—slowly crawled on top of B-333, making him uncomfortable. When the creature moved away from him, the droid repeatedly reiterated his hatred of being on the Korvix Vorn as he went deeper into the ship. Then, B-333 met with Tarabal, who praised the droid for his perfect timing to start planning the prisoners' escape, though the droid only defeatedly expressed his tiredness at the prospect. B-333 and Argomon successfully planted a tracking device on the Korvix Vorn after arrival, and the latter left the former behind on the Korvix Vorn as part of 5A-G3's eventual plan to sabotage the ship to return to Eriadu.

Not long afterward, in 228 BBY, the tracking device on the Korvix Vorn revealed the vessel's location, prompting the Jedi and the Republic Defense Coalition to lead a raid on the prison ship to rescue its prisoners. Having assumed the mission objective included destroying the Korvix Vorn after rescuing its prisoners, 5A-G3 and Argomon worked together to formulate a plan to explode the vessel and reunite with B-333, who was still aboard the Nihil vessel.

During the raid, 5A-G3 and Argomon helped their boarding party secure the Korvix Vorns cannons before separating from the group to reunite with B-333. After rigging the prison ship to detonate, they fled aboard their boarding party's ship. As they flew away, Korvix Vorn exploded in flames, much to the shock of the Jedi and rescued prisoners aboard. After the Republic operative Zeen Mrala inquired, 5A-G3 informed those present that their trio had always intended to destroy the Korvix Vorn, leading everyone to sigh in relief and hug each other. B-333 returned to Eriadu with their colleagues and rescued prisoners, grateful to be headed home.

On Eriadu, B-333 joined several Jedi and Republic colleagues for a game involving scoring pucks into illuminated goals. However, Jedi Master Yoda contacted the group via hologram and informed them they needed to evacuate because the Stormwall had expanded and left Eriadu at the border of Republic space. Moments after, the Padawan Academic Cruiser Star Hopper—commandeered by the Warden, the Korvix Vorns former commander—arrived in Eriadu's atmosphere for an attack to scare those at the Republic outpost. B-333 stared at the Star Hopper from Eriadu's surface, watching as several of his colleagues led an attempt to reclaim the Jedi Order's former vessel, though their attempt was ultimately unsuccessful.

Characteristics

B-333 was part of 5A-G3's anti-Nihil network.

B-333 was part of 5A-G3's anti-Nihil network.

B-333 had blue sensors and yellow-and-gray plating. He had an illuminated set of five red, white, and blue buttons on his front and two jointed limbs affixed with maneuverable claws. B-333 could communicate in Galactic Basic.

By the time of the Nihil conflict, B-333 was loyal to 5A-G3's spy network, which worked to assist the Republic and the Jedi. However, he often voiced his dislike for the activities he was involved in, having developed a strong revulsion for the Korvix Vorn, which he and Argomon often visited as part of their supply runs across the Stormwall. Argomon felt that the droid had a tendency to babble, especially when nervous, and the droid also occasionally stuttered over his words. 5A-G3 and Argomon took care to reunite with B-333 before fleeing with and then destroying the Korvix Vorn, unwilling to leave him behind, with the former considering him an asset to their team.

Behind the scenes

B-333 first appeared in the third issue of the 2023 comic series Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures. The issue was written by Daniel José Older, illustrated by Harvey Tolibao, was published by Dark Horse Comics as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase III on February 14, 2024. The droid's was introduced as "Bee-Triple-Three" in the issue, though Older confirmed that his name was officially B-333 on Twitter.
