Chandrilan tea

Tea from Chandrila was a variety of tea named after the Core Worlds planet of Chandrila. Both humans and Umbarans could consume this tea, and it was suitable for storage on ships. The Jedi Wayseeker, Orla Jareni, prepared some of this tea for herself in 232 BBY while she was a passenger on the transport ship, the Vessel. Three years later, while also traveling on the Vessel, Affie Hollow, a pilot, drank some of the tea in order to help her sleep. In 40 BBY, Rahara Wick, a thief of gemstones, kept Chandrilan tea in the mess hall of the Gozanti-class cruiser called the Meryx. Furthermore, this tea was served on Alderaan and Coruscant in 3 BBY.

Description

Humans and Umbarans were known to enjoy Chandrilan tea as a consumable. This tea could be served hot in cups or mugs, and it was convenient to keep it on board ships. The name of Chandrilan tea was derived from the Core Worlds planet Chandrila, and it could be prepared by adding heated water.

History

Orla Jareni kept Chandrilan tea aboard the Vessel while traveling.

Back in 232 BBY, the Byne Guild's transport vessel, the Vessel, had Chandrilan tea stored in its mess hall. Orla Jareni, the Jedi Wayseeker, brewed herself some of this drink during her journey from Coruscant, a planet in the Core Worlds, to the Galactic Frontier aboard the Vessel. Later, in 229 BBY, approximately one month following the fall of Starlight Beacon, Affie Hollow, the pilot, had Chandrilan tea available in the ship's mess while traveling on the Vessel. Hollow mentioned to her co-pilot, Leox Gyasi, that he had likely seen her drinking the tea late at night in the Vessel's mess, as she hoped it would help her to sleep.

Years afterward, specifically in 40 BBY, Rahara Wick, a gemstone thief and former enslaved worker for the Czerka Corporation, had Chandrilan tea on board the Gozanti-class cruiser Meryx for her personal use as the pilot. Pax Maripher, the owner of the Meryx and her colleague, prepared some of the tea for her while they were aiding Qui-Gon Jinn, a Jedi Master, and Obi-Wan Kenobi, his Padawan, in locating the Opposition performance troupe during their mission to Pijal, a planet in the Inner Rim. Due to Maripher's displeasure with the Jedi's presence on his cruiser, he intentionally avoided offering them any of the tea. A few days later, Wick poured herself a mug of the tea as she and Maripher waited for the Jedi to return. During their subsequent scouting mission with Jinn and Kenobi, Czerka recaptured Wick at the company's facility on Pijal's moon. Maripher felt the loss of her presence on the Meryx, including the Chandrilan tea she had left behind in the mess store.

In 3 BBY, Mon Mothma, an Imperial Senator, had a steaming cup of Chandrilan tea on her desk during a meeting with Leia Organa, an Alderaanian Princess, in her Coruscant offices. A few days later, on Alderaan, Bail Organa, the Viceroy, discussed the aftermath of the arrests of Imperial traitors on Christophsis with his family, while a droid refilled his Chandrilan tea with hot water.
