Madrighast, a male colonel within the Galactic Empire's military, held command of the Unyielding starship. Following the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY, and after suffering losses during Operation: Cinder, Madrighast sought to link up with the 108th in the Gordian Reach. He reached out to Colonel Shakara Nuress of the Empire's 204th Imperial Fighter Wing, inviting her to join forces with him and the 108th. Nuress refused, instead revealing her forces were establishing a base and offering Madrighast the opportunity to resupply there. Contact with Nuress was soon lost. Around 5 ABY, the colonel attempted to connect with Admiral Rae Sloane's fleet, contacting the 204th's new commanding officer, Soran Keize, but interference disrupted and ultimately terminated Madrighast's transmission.
During the Galactic Empire's Imperial era, Madrighast held the rank of colonel in the Imperial Military, leading his own unit. He previously served with the Empire's 204th Imperial Fighter Wing at To'hok Neige, eventually being granted command of his own Unyielding Imperial-class Star Destroyer. After the death of the Galactic Emperor at the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY, Madrighast participated in Operation: Cinder, a contingency plan enacted following the Emperor's demise. The operation proved challenging for Madrighast, weakening his forces. Over a month later, Madrighast intended to meet up with the Empire's 108th at the Gordian Reach, first contacting Colonel Shakara Nuress, the 204th's commanding officer, whom he knew but had only heard rumors about since Operation: Cinder.
With only two minutes remaining before communications ceased, Madrighast and Nuress briefly talked about her isolation from the wider Empire. Madrighast then strongly suggested Nuress join his forces to rendezvous with the 108th. Nuress, however, voiced her doubts about Madrighast's forces' combat readiness. She further disclosed that she and her fighter wing were establishing a base of operations on the planet Pandem Nai. Taken aback, Madrighast wished Nuress well with her base. Nuress asserted her base could resupply a portion of the Imperial Navy and invited Madrighast to stop by for supplies. Madrighast inquired about her findings, to which she replied it was a place to make a stand. Madrighast's communication then ended as the two minutes expired.
Circa 5 ABY, Madrighast was trying to link up with Admiral Rae Sloane, who had assumed official command of the Imperial Navy, but became concerned about reports of enemy interdiction blockades along hyperlanes. Seeking to reinforce his forces, he re-established contact with the 204th. The fighter wing had since suffered an attack at Pandem Nai, resulting in Nuress's death. Madrighast sent a message again inviting the 204th to join him in meeting with Sloane's fleet. The colonel's message reached the 204th's new commander, Colonel Soran Keize, who had been promoted in the field. Keize viewed the message, which was disrupted by interference and subsequently cut off. The acting colonel ultimately chose not to accept Madrighast's offer.
Madrighast was unable to rendezvous with Sloane's fleet as New Republic forces forced him off course. Facing numerous enemy blockades, his forces were prevented from reaching their destination and suffered starship losses within two weeks. The Unyielding itself sustained damage, requiring a replacement for one of its Deflector shield generator domes. Abandoning hope that Sloane's forces were still awaiting him, Madrighast struggled to find any sanctuary for his unit until he discovered the Chadawa system, home to the artificial ocean planet Chadawa. Governor Bordanivaux of Chadawa, who had separated her world from the larger Empire, offered refuge to Madrighast's forces, who then joined the Chadawan navy.
In that year, the 204th, having located Sloane's forces, carried out a series of genocidal acts as part of a second Operation: Cinder ordered by their new superiors. After attacking three worlds that had broken away from Imperial loyalist forces, the fighter wing targeted Chadawa. Madrighast chose to defend the system from destruction by the 204th. However, he and his forces were destroyed by General Hera Syndulla and the New Republic Star Destroyer Deliverance during the battle at Chadawa.
Madrighast's voice was first heard in the 2019 novel Alphabet Squadron, the first book in the Star Wars: Alphabet Squadron trilogy written by Alexander Freed.
