During the events of the First Order-Resistance War in 34 ABY, inhabitants of the Colossus refueling station embarked on a resupply mission, traveling to the outpost situated on the planet Ashas Ree. It was there that Team Colossus members Kazuda Xiono, Eila, and Kel encountered Mika Grey, a wandering individual. Grey was actively trying to secure a Sith relic from a buried temple located near the abandoned outpost. Her goal was to prevent it from falling into the clutches of First Order Raiders who were also in pursuit of the artifact.
In the time of the New Republic era, the First Order had occupied the Colossus, which served as a mobile refueling platform above the planet Castilon. Following the devastating Hosnian Cataclysm, Team Colossus successfully ousted the First Order forces and took the station into the vastness of space. As a consequence, First Order forces, led by Commander Pyre and First Order Security Bureau Agent Tierny, initiated a hunt to locate the station, intending to utilize it for their war objectives.
After obtaining fuel with the help of Flix's family on Drahgor III, Captain Imanuel Doza sent his daughter Torra along with Ace Squadron pilots Kazuda Xiono and Freya Fenris to the forested planet Ashas Ree to find supplies. Ashas Ree was home to a small trading outpost. The trio was accompanied by their respective astromech droids: R23-X9, CB-23, and T3-K10. Despite CB-23's reservations, Xiono permitted the Teharan orphans Kel and Eila to join the resupply mission, wanting them to enjoy the fresh air, sunlight, and natural environment.

The Colossus team discovered the trading outpost was deserted. An archaeologist named Mika Grey had previously unearthed an ancient Sith temple that was buried beneath a Temple of the Force. The local population had fled due to their apprehension of the ancient Sith and the dark side. Grey's objective was to secure a triangular Sith relic in order to prevent the First Order, who were actively seeking ancient Jedi and Sith artifacts, from acquiring it. However, she became trapped within a chamber beneath the altar due to the temple's complex security mechanisms.
While Torra and Freya were occupied with gathering supplies, Kel, Eila, Xiono, and CB-23 made their way to the Temple of the Force. Hearing cries emanating from the Sith Temple, they ventured inside the ancient structure. A trap door separated Kel and Eila from Kaz and CB-23. While searching for the children, Kaz and CB-23 entered a chamber containing an altar and the Sith relic. Disoriented by an electric shock device, Xiono inadvertently activated a trapdoor, resulting in him being trapped alongside Grey. She was initially suspicious of him, assuming he was a spy for the First Order.
After Grey explained her situation to Xiono, he offered his assistance but accidentally triggered a massive grinder located beneath their chamber. Meanwhile, CB-23 successfully located Kel and Eila. Together, the three proceeded to the chamber with the altar, where they could hear Xiono and Grey's screams. Following Grey's instructions, Eila and Kel, aided by CB-23, managed to locate two star symbols, which deactivated the grinder and opened the trap door. CB-23 then utilized a grappling hook to pull Xiono to safety, while Grey climbed out of the chamber.
As Xiono was exiting the chamber, he inadvertently activated a doomsday device, causing the Sith temple to start collapsing, with rocks falling from the ceiling. He, Kel, Eila, CB-23, and Grey narrowly escaped the crumbling temple and reached the surface. Upon exiting the Temple of the Force, they discovered that a group of First Order Raiders led by Agent Raith had taken Torra, Fenris, and their droids captive. Grey had previously evaded these specialized stormtroopers, who were tasked with collecting relics for their Supreme Leader, on Vargos 9.
After the First Order destroyed Grey's ship, the group split up and attempted to rescue Torra and Fenris. However, Xiono, Kel, Eila, and CB-23 were captured by the Raiders, who brought them before Raith. Before Raith could interrogate the captives regarding the Sith temple, Grey appeared on top of the temple and taunted the raiders. Raith offered to spare the children in exchange for her surrendering the relic. However, Grey remained unfazed and instead activated the relic before throwing it at the Raiders. She then instructed Kaz and the others to flee.
The Colossus group managed to escape into the temple before the Sith relic unleashed a powerful wave of energy that incinerated Raith and his troops, leaving behind charred remains. Although Grey was disappointed that the relic had been destroyed, she took solace in the fact that she had prevented the First Order from obtaining it. The group then returned to Xiono's Star Commuter 2000 shuttle, where R23-X9 and T3-K10 were waiting.
As a result of the Ashas Ree mission, Ace Squadron successfully acquired additional supplies for the Colossus, which was experiencing shortages due to the First Order-Resistance War. Furthermore, Mika Grey successfully prevented the Supreme Leader from gaining possession of a potent Sith relic.
Since Grey's ship had been destroyed, Kaz and Eila convinced the elderly archaeologist to join them on the Colossus, with Eila assuring her that it was a "wonderful place". The Force-sensitive Eila found a new mentor in Mika Grey, who possessed knowledge of the Force, the Jedi, and the Sith. Xiono's experience on Ashas Ree also prompted him to reconsider his skepticism and disbelief in the Force.
The Ashas Ree mission was first depicted in the Star Wars Resistance Season Two episode "The Relic Raiders," which premiered on Disney XD on November 18, 2019.
