Ordo (Talpini)

Ordo, a Talpini Nihil marauder, served as a member of the crew aboard the Gaze Electric, which was the flagship of the Eye of the Nihil, commanded by Marchion Ro. Back in 232 BBY, Ordo, along with fellow Nihil members Garank and Baheeoo, who were also Talpini, were in a hurry to convey Ro's urgent directive to alter their course towards the planet Trymant IV. In their eagerness to be the first to reach the bridge, Garank seized Ordo, lifting them into the air, and subsequently hurled the Talpini towards Baheeoo, resulting in both of them falling to the deck. As Garank dashed away, Ordo and Baheeoo decided to commandeer a Bogaranth and ride it to their intended destination. Upon their arrival at the bridge, Garank met their end when the Bogaranth consumed them, leading Ordo and Baheeoo to express their sorrow over the loss of the Gamorrean.

Biography

During the High Republic Era, Ordo, a Talpini Nihil marauder, was a crew member on the Gaze Electric, the flagship of Eye of the Nihil Marchion Ro. They were among the select few Nihil allowed on board. In 232 BBY, Ro orchestrated a cataclysmic event by causing the Byne Guild freighter Legacy Run to collide with a stormship, leading to the Great Hyperspace Disaster. This disaster resulted in Emergences—fragments of hyperspace debris—erupting from realspace and striking various celestial bodies throughout the galaxy. After learning that one such Emergence was poised to endanger several locations within the Trymant system, Ro made the decision to journey to the planet Trymant IV. The Storm Zagyar initially attempted to relay the command to the bridge, but upon discovering that the comms on the Gaze Electric were non-functional, he instead dispatched the Nihil trio of Ordo, Garank, and Baheeoo to immediately inform the ship's captain about the revised strategy.

Ordo and Baheeoo rode a Bogaranth to travel to the Gaze Electric's bridge faster.

Fueled by Zaygar's threat to eject the last Nihil to arrive out of an airlock, the three Nihil raced from the rear of the Gaze Electric toward the bridge, unsure if they could make it in time to fulfill Ro's expectations. Garank gestured towards the side and grunted in Gamorrean, confusing Baheeoo, who turned to see what his colleague was pointing at. Taking advantage of Baheeoo's distraction, Garank grabbed a protesting Ordo and flung the Talpini against the Gigoran, sending them both tumbling to the ground. Garank then abandoned the pair, determined to reach the Gaze Electric's bridge before them. Ordo and Baheeoo then decided to take a perilous shortcut through the pen containing the ship's Bogaranths—ferocious creatures known for eating anything that crossed their path. While Garank continued his sprint toward the bridge, Ordo and Baheeoo mounted a Bogaranth and rode it to the same destination, causing a wave of Nihil to scatter in fear as they passed.

Upon their arrival, Ordo announced that they had reached their destination, while Baheeoo pointed out that Garank was also present. However, when their Bogaranth devoured Garank, both Ordo and Baheeooo expressed their grief over the demise of the Gamorrean. The pair then rushed in to inform the captain to set a new course. The Pantoran captain was taken aback by their arrival and instructed the crew to input Trymant IV's coordinates. Shortly afterward, Ordo and Baheeoo were informed by another Nihil that the Nihil Grik had just repaired the comms. As the Gaze Electric jumped to hyperspace, the Nihil on the bridge listened to an incoming holographic message from Ro, who promised the Nihil would gain incredible powers over the Galactic Republic and their destiny awaited them at their next destination.

Personality and traits

Ordo displayed a willingness to obey orders, especially when motivated by the knowledge that only the first Nihil to reach the bridge would avoid being thrown out an airlock. Despite Garank's attempts to sabotage Ordo and Baheeoo's efforts during their race to the bridge, the Talpini chose to remain with the Gigoran for the remainder of their journey across the Gaze Electric. Despite Baheeoo's concerns about riding a Bogaranth to reach their destination faster, Ordo suggested that the risk was justified due to the time constraints imposed by Zagyar. The Talpini had green eyes, yellow hair, and fair skin.

Skills and abilities

Despite the dangerous and difficult nature of Bogaranths, the Talpini demonstrated the ability to mount and ride one alongside Baheeoo. Ordo also possessed a high level of physical fitness, enabling them to run for extended periods. They were fluent in Galactic Basic Standard.

Equipment

While serving aboard the Gaze Electric, Ordo wore a green jumpsuit accompanied by green boots. The Talpini also sported a black sash around their waist and a yellow holster.

Behind the scenes

Ordo made their first appearance in "Tales of Villainy: The Gaze Electric," a supplementary comic story featured in the sixth issue of the 2020 Star Wars Adventures anthology comic-book series. The story was penned by Daniel José Older, illustrated by Nick Brokenshire, and published by IDW Publishing on July 7, 2021. When developing the color palette for the comic story, Brokenshire sought to emulate the style of Star Wars comics from the 1970s and 1980s, when color technology was limited and panels still needed to be visually striking. Consequently, the Gaze Electric and its crew, including Ordo, were colored in this style, although the artist noted that the colors may not necessarily reflect reality.
