Sacred Jedi texts

The sacred Jedi texts, a compilation of eight bound books and scrolls, originated at the very beginning of the Jedi Order. By the time 34 ABY had rolled around, Luke Skywalker had gathered these texts and kept them safe within a uneti tree, situated near the first Jedi Temple found on the watery planet Ahch-To. These texts were believed to hold ancient writings, notably the Aionomica, the Chronicles of Brus-bu, the Rammahgon, and Poetics of a Jedi, as well as forgotten wisdom and abilities of the Jedi, which included Force projection (also known as Similfuturus) and Force healing. They detailed the principles and historical narrative of the Jedi, providing specific guidance for those dedicated to studying the Jedi way. Students of the future were encouraged to contribute to these books as the millennia passed. One book, at the very least, contained a section about how the Jedi chose to follow the light side of the Force. The texts also presented a visual representation of the Chain Worlds Theorem, or Vergence Scatter, depicting the World Between Worlds, blueprints of lightsabers, and accounts of the notable creatures of Tython. Furthermore, they held annotations and remarks left by Jedi librarians throughout the ages. Certain segments documented a hyperspace navigation puzzle, frequently presented to Padawans, known as the Unsolved Theorem of Master Thorpe. The texts also included a solution to this theorem, referred to as the Phases of Mortis.

After sensing a dark disturbance in the Force in 21 ABY and tracking Ochi alongside Landonis Balthazar Calrissian, Jedi Master Luke Skywalker added his own reflections on this disturbance to the texts.

Following the destruction of Starkiller Base, Rey finally met Luke Skywalker on Ahch-To and felt compelled to study the texts, especially after she failed to persuade him to return and help the Resistance. He explained that the texts, along with himself, were the only remnants of the Jedi religion. After Rey departed the planet, hoping to redeem Kylo Ren, Luke attempted to set fire to both the ancient tree and the texts, and was assisted in this by the Force ghost of Yoda. However, unbeknownst to Skywalker, Rey had already taken the texts aboard the Millennium Falcon. Soon after, the protocol droid C-3PO helped Rey to translate the texts.

Eventually, Rey used these texts to begin her journey to Exegol, where her grandfather, Darth Sidious, the Dark Lord of the Sith and leader of the Sith Eternal, awaited her.

These texts were written using several languages, including Tionese, Coremaic, Protobesh, and Basic.

Texts

The Rammahgon

Skywalker added information on the Sith wayfinder and Exegol to the Rammahgon.

It was said that the original Rammahgon was destroyed more than 5,000 years prior to 35 ABY, but Luke Skywalker discovered it on Ossus. This book contained at least four precepts, each presenting a narrative about the universe and the Force, though these stories were contradictory. The Fourth Precept was a poem describing battles between gods. The Rammahgon also held astronomical data, especially concerning Exegol, including hyperspace routes, warnings about "deep space dangers," and information regarding the Galactic Barrier.

Luke Skywalker contributed his knowledge of the Sith wayfinder to the book, along with additions to the route leading to Exegol.

The Rammahgon's cover was crafted from red clay formed from interstellar gases, while the spine and pages were made from uneti wood. A portion of the book was written in Coremaic, and other sections were written in protobesh cartouches.

The Aionomica

The Aionomica

The Aionomica consisted of two volumes (Aionomicum I and Aionomicum II). Jedi Master Ri-Lee Howell compiled these volumes, detailing early accounts of "explorations and codifications of the Force."

Rumors had circulated for a long time about a third volume of the Aionomica. A forgery of this alleged volume appeared around 319 BBY, leading to the Aionomica forgery scandal.

The Chronicles of Brus-bu

The Chronicles of Brus-bu contained a description of a technique capable of repairing a damaged kyber crystal.

The Poetics of a Jedi

Poetics of a Jedi was a book authored by Jedi Master Lyr Farseeker. Luke Skywalker managed to collect a copy of it during his search for ancient Jedi scriptures, and it was later passed down to Rey.

Behind the scenes

The sacred Jedi texts made their first appearance in the 2017 film Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi, which is the second film in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. They also appeared in the sequel, Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker. Concept artist James "Jim" Carson created artwork for The Last Jedi.
