Chussido

Chussido, a female Rodian hailing from her native planet, Rodia, became a member of Enfys Nest's notorious Cloud-Riders group. The year 10 BBY saw Chussido accompany Nest and the Cloud-Riders to Savareen with the intention of seizing coaxium fuel. This fuel was in the possession of a criminal crew associated with the Crimson Dawn syndicate. Nest successfully swayed all but the leader, Tobias Beckett, to assist in liberating the coaxium from Crimson Dawn and subsequently killing the syndicate head, Dryden Vos.

While the rogue Han Solo and his comrades transported the coaxium to Vos aboard his yacht, the First Light, Chussido and the Cloud-Riders established an ambush. Vos, under the impression that Solo had delivered counterfeit coaxium, dispatched his mercenaries to apprehend Nest and her crew, believing they held the genuine article. Chussido and her fellow Cloud-Riders then launched their attack, overpowering the mercenaries and enabling Solo and his allies to eliminate Vos. Solo then gave the coaxium back to Nest, Chussido, and the rest of the Cloud-Riders.

Following her time with the Cloud-Riders, Chussido eventually became a part of the Bounty Hunters' Guild, establishing herself in a cantina located on Nevarro. Her life was cut short during an attempt to reclaim The Child from The Mandalorian.

Biography

The Cloud-Riders

Chussido was a member of the Cloud-Riders.

After her homeworld of Rodia suffered at the hands of the Five Crime Syndicates, Chussido, a female Rodian, affiliated herself with the defiant Cloud-Riders, led by Enfys Nest. In 10 BBY, Nest spearheaded a small contingent of Cloud Riders in an endeavor to pilfer a coaxium fuel shipment from the Galactic Empire on the planet Vandor. However, their scheme was foiled by a criminal crew headed by Tobias Beckett, who were connected to the Crimson Dawn syndicate. This crew also sought to steal the coaxium, ultimately destroying it in the process.

Resolved to secure coaxium for use against the Empire, Nest kept tabs on the surviving members of Beckett's crew. She discovered they had stolen raw coaxium from a mine on Kessel and were en route to Savareen for refining. Consequently, Nest, Chussido, and the other Cloud-Riders made their way to Savareen, aiming to seize the coaxium.

Savareen standoff

The Cloud-Riders confronted Beckett's crew on Savareen.

Once the refining of the coaxium began at the Bis Refinery, Chussido stood alongside Nest and the rest as they confronted the criminals in a village situated near the refinery. Initially, the Cloud-Riders maintained their blasters trained on the criminals, but after Nest removed her helmet, the two groups moved inside a local bar to discuss terms. Nest proceeded to detail the atrocities committed by Crimson Dawn and the syndicates against Chussido and her comrades' homeworlds, as well as their offenses against the local villagers. She attempted to persuade Beckett and his followers to relinquish the coaxium to them, preventing its use by the syndicates and their ally, the Empire.

While Beckett remained unconvinced, the speech did sway the outlaw Han Solo to offer his assistance. He formulated a plan with the Cloud-Riders and the remainder of Beckett's crew, aimed at killing Dryden Vos, the leader of Crimson Dawn, who was en route to Savareen to collect the coaxium. The strategy involved Chussido and the other Cloud-Riders providing their helmets to the villagers, who would then serve as decoys. Solo then informed Beckett, suspecting his impending betrayal, that they intended to present Vos with fake coaxium.

Vengeance on Vos

Chussido took down several of Crimson Dawn's enforcers.

Solo and his allies then transported the genuine coaxium to Vos's yacht, the First Light, while Chussido and the other Cloud-Riders established an ambush in the village, utilizing local look-alikes and empty coaxium containers as bait. As anticipated, Beckett betrayed his companions, informing Vos that the coaxium was counterfeit. This prompted the crime lord to dispatch his force of mercenaries, led by Aemon Gremm, to capture the Cloud-Riders, whom he believed possessed the real coaxium. The mercenaries encircled the disguised villagers, but quickly realized they were empty handed.

Nest then initiated an ambush on the unsuspecting mercenaries. Chussido emerged from hiding, kicking a mercenary to the ground. She proceeded to strike another mercenary with the stock of her blaster, knocking him down before aiming the weapon at him as he attempted to rise. The remaining mercenaries were swiftly subdued or eliminated, leaving Vos without backup on the First Light. Solo and his allies then killed Vos and Beckett, before returning the real coaxium to Nest, Chussido and the other Cloud-Riders, who loaded the coaxium onto their speeder bikes. Chussido and the others then mounted their vehicles, waiting for Nest to launch first before taking off behind her and leaving for a rendezvous they had to keep with the Onderonian rebel Saw Gerrera, to whom they gave the coaxium.

New Republic Era

Chussido spent time in a cantina with other Guild members.

Eventually, Chussido became affiliated with the Bounty Hunters' Guild. In 9 ABY, she spent time in a cantina on Nevarro frequented by members of the guild, including its agent, Greef Karga. During her time at the cantina, the bounty hunter known as the Mandalorian arrived to meet with Karga and deliver four bounties he had collected. Chussido was at the bar when the Mandalorian entered, and began speaking with a human there. She then sat at one of the tables with a different human.

Chussido, along with the other hunters, accepted a bounty from a figure known as the Client, who was associated with an Imperial remnant and sought the capture of a Force-sensitive infant. Chussido failed to secure the bounty, as the Mandalorian successfully delivered the Child first, sparking resentment from her and other Guild members.

Dusted

Chussido attempted to kill the Mandalorian

When the Mandalorian experienced a change of heart and rescued the Child from the Imperials, Chussido and every other hunter's fob reactivated. Karga then orchestrated an ambush with her and the other hunters against the Mandalorian as he attempted to return to his starship, the Razor Crest. Chussido lay in wait on a street corner as the Mandalorian passed, following him and gradually surrounding him with other hunters. She and the others kept their blasters trained on the Mandalorian as he initially appeared to surrender and follow Karga's command to place the Child on a nearby speeder. However, upon reaching the speeder, the Mandalorian opened fire and sought cover within the vehicle.

The assembled hunters unleashed a barrage of fire upon the Mandalorian as he attempted to escape in the speeder, returning fire as he went. Karga managed to shoot the astromech droid piloting the speeder, halting the Mandalorian's progress and allowing the other hunters to close in. Chussido remained concealed behind a stack of crates, a blaster pistol trained on the speeder, but met her death when the Mandalorian struck her with his Amban phase-pulse blaster, completely disintegrating the former Cloud-Rider. The Mandalorian ultimately escaped with the Child, aided by his Tribe of Mandalorians.

Personality and traits

Chussido wore a necklace of fang-like objects and carried a blaster rifle.

Chussido possessed red eyes and yellow skin. Chussido was shocked along with all the other Cloud-Riders other than Nest when Solo returned with the coaxium following the death of Beckett and Vos.

Equipment

Chussido was attired in a brown and red jerkin, complemented by gray pants, boots, and a brown cape. The Rodian's mask was a brown-bag like headpiece. A necklace of tooth-like objects adorned her neck, and she carried a blaster rifle. The Rodian also sported red and white warpaint across her face. While attempting to reclaim the Child under the Bounty Hunters' Guild, she used a DT-12 heavy blaster pistol with a long thin barrel.

Behind the scenes

Concept art of Chussido by Adam Brockbank

Chussido made her debut in the 2018 film Solo: A Star Wars Story and was subsequently identified in the Star Wars: Card Trader app.

The concept of a Rodian Cloud-Rider emerged late in the film's development. Concept artist Jake Lunt Davies created initial sketches of Chussido, emphasizing her visual distinction from the Rodian Greedo. Davies also drew inspiration from the Rodians featured in Star Wars Battlefront during the character's design. Costume concept designer Adam Brockbank also produced concept art including Chussido, titled "Enfys Gang Group Version 5A". The final mask used in Solo had some sculptural differences from the original and also had war paint applies to further distinguish it from Greedo.

Chussido's costume was later repurposed in the 2019 television show The Mandalorian. While Star Wars Insider 205 indicates that the Rodian in The Mandalorian has yet to be officially confirmed as Chussido, the mobile game Disney Magic Kingdoms has already verified the Rodian to be the same character.
