In the year 5 ABY, as the Imperial Era drew to a close, a rebellion was initiated by the Acolytes of the Beyond within Coronet City, a location on the planet of Corellia. This assault on the city was orchestrated to enable [Kiza](/article/kiza], a new member, and her partner Remi, to pilfer a lightsaber from the archives situated beneath the Peace and Security station.
In the months succeeding the Battle of Endor, a group that venerated the Sith and the dark side of the Force materialized on the planet Taris, identifying themselves as the Acolytes of the Beyond. Their initial focus involved amassing Sith artifacts, notably an item they believed to be Darth Vader's lightsaber, with the intention of burning these items to reunite with their former Sith masters post-death. Subsequently, other Acolytes, including Remi and the Pantoran Kiza, emerged in the Corellian city of Coronet City. Their actions encompassed graffiti bearing the Vader mask symbol accompanied by the phrase "VADER LIVES", theft of credits, unauthorized access to the HoloNet, and attacks on Corellian peace officers.
The Acolytes then formulated a plan for a coordinated strike on Coronet City. The purpose was to seize a lightsaber housed within the archives located under the Peace and Security station. These archives shared a basement area with the adjacent museum. The scheme involved the creation of fraudulent [papers](/article/paper] that enabled Kiza to infiltrate the station, posing as a secretary. Simultaneously, her lover, Remi, deliberately allowed himself to be apprehended by detective Erno on charges of vandalism. His mission was to obtain the lightsaber.
Before Erno could begin questioning Remi, officer Spob Rydel alerted him to the widespread attacks initiated by the Acolytes throughout Coronet City. The Acolytes launched assaults across various locations, including Diadem Square, where they overwhelmed storefronts and targeted air-tuks, pulling the speeders down. Additional Acolytes infiltrated the 1-line of the mag-lev subway, targeted train stops at the Juni Street Station, and assaulted civilians at the city's casinos. These attackers were equipped with red batons and concealed their identities with masks.
Upon returning to the interrogation room, Erno discovered that Remi had vanished. Remi had successfully retrieved the lightsaber from the basement. After the emergency lights activated, Erno proceeded to the main area to join Rydel and fellow detectives Shreen and Mursey. Before he could communicate with Rydel, Kiza fatally shot Rydel in the head. Kiza proceeded to eliminate Shreen and Mursey with gunfire. Erno attempted to draw his blaster. When he questioned Kiza's actions, she declared that she was no longer his doll. She characterized the attack as a revolution, the vengeance of the darkness, and total destruction.
Erno made an attempt to shoot Kiza, but Remi used his newly acquired lightsaber to slice off his hand. Remi informed Kiza that he had indicated the weapon's location in the basement. After confirming the blade's authenticity, Kiza struck Erno in the head with a blunt object. She then conveyed the message that Vader lived and instructed him to inform everyone of the Acolytes' impending arrival.
Following the Coronet City uprising, Kiza and Remi's Acolytes cell journeyed to the Colonies world of Devaron. Under the guidance of Yupe Tashu, a former Adviser to the late Emperor Palpatine, they initiated an attack on a New Republic outpost.
The Coronet City rebellion was initially depicted in an interlude chapter within Chuck Wendig's 2016 novel, Aftermath: Life Debt. This segment was presented from detective Erno's perspective. It was later referenced in another interlude chapter in the 2017 sequel, Aftermath: Empire's End, where the events were recounted from the Acolyte Kiza's viewpoint.
