Before the Clone Wars, the planet known as Desix withdrew from the Galactic Republic and subsequently aligned itself with the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Following the reorganization that transformed the Galactic Republic into the Galactic Empire, Imperial forces initially sought a peaceful transition of power from the planet's governor, Tawni Ames. However, she resisted and instead took Grotton, the governor designated by the Empire for the planet, as a hostage. Consequently, the Empire deployed a squad of stormtroopers under the command of Clone Commander Cody, who successfully suppressed the resistance, eliminated Ames, and established Imperial control over the planet.
Desix was a desolate and parched planet, characterized by its rugged, rocky landscape. The planet was frequently battered by intense sandstorms, and it was closely orbited by at least three celestial bodies. The rocks and sand found on the planet exhibited an orange-red hue. When viewed from space, it resembled an orange sphere with tinges of purple and brown, distinguished by a noticeable golden shimmer. A city was situated on the planet, surrounded by expansive farmlands that served as the center of authority for Governor Tawni Ames of Desix, and later, Governor Grotton.
Sometime before the [Clone Wars](/article/clone_wars] erupted, Desix made the decision to secede from the Galactic Republic, becoming an independent system and joining the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Tawni Ames, who served as the planet's governor, originated from Desix. During the Clone Wars, she collaborated with Mina Bonteri and a number of Separatist and Republic Senators to propose a treaty aimed at bringing the Clone Wars to an end. However, Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine rejected the treaty, and the Clone Wars continued until 19 BBY.

Following the formation of the Galactic Empire, Desix remained a holdout of the Confederacy, with the Empire attempting to peacefully reclaim the planet. However, Governor Ames refused to submit to Imperial jurisdiction and transfer power to Grotton. This led to Grotton and a squad of recruited TK troopers arriving on the planet to seize control, but they quickly failed when a battalion of B1-series battle droids surrounded the newly appointed governor and his squad, taking them hostage.
This hostage situation prompted Vice Admiral Rampart to dispatch Clone Commander Cody, clone commando Crosshair, and a clone stormtrooper squad to the planet as part of the mission to Desix. While in Desix's airspace, the Nu-class attack/transport shuttle carrying the clone troopers was struck by RPS-6 rocket launchers. As a result, the shuttle crash-landed in Sector Five of the farmlands, near the city.

The surviving clone troopers made their way to the city, encountering reprogrammed Separatist droids along the way. The squad successfully entered the city, with Cody, Crosshair, "Nova," and "Wyler" splitting off to secure the northern part of the city, while the rest of the squad took the southern part. The northern squad later entered the bell tower, where the tactical droid and Ames were located. However, they were attacked by droidekas, who killed Wyler. After disabling the droidekas with electromagnetic pulse grenades, they continued their advance, but Nova was killed by commando droids. Cody and Crosshair eventually eliminated the T-series tactical droid at the top of the bell tower before searching for Grotton. They found Ames pointing her blaster pistol at him. After a brief standoff, Ames released Grotton after Cody convinced her that they could resolve the conflict between the Empire and her people peacefully. However, Grotton immediately ordered Cody to kill Ames after being released. Cody hesitated, reminding Grotton of his promise to spare Ames, so Crosshair killed her instead. Grotton then ordered that her body be displayed in the city square as a warning against rebellion against the Empire.
Desix made its first appearance in "The Solitary Clone," the third episode of the second season of Star Wars: The Bad Batch, which was released on January 11, 2023.
