The Eye of Sion represented a substantial hyperspace transport ring. It was constructed under the direction of the witch Morgan Elsbeth by forces loyal to her. Its purpose was to locate and extract Grand Admiral Thrawn from his exile in a galaxy far, far away.

The Eye of Sion was a truly enormous hyperspace transport ring, boasting enough power to convey a single Imperial I-class Star Destroyer across extragalactic distances. Its design incorporated three distinct groupings of hyperdrive engines. These were strategically positioned on the port, starboard, and ventral sections of its circular framework. A gold bridge structure was located on its dorsal surface. The port and starboard hyperdrive assemblies each housed three Super Star Destroyer hyperdrive cores. These components were secretly obtained from Corellian shipyards operated by the New Republic and overseen by Morgan Elsbeth. In contrast, the ventral cluster contained only a single core.
This immense hyperspace transport ring shares similarities with two smaller counterparts. One was utilized by the V-19 Torrent starfighter during the Clone Wars. The other served the Delta-7 Aethersprite-class light interceptor both before and during the Clone Wars, and also the Delta-7B Aethersprite-class light interceptor during the Clone Wars.
The Eye's bridge was manned by Star Navigator Droids along with scout guards. It featured a unique holoprojector system that employed suspended particles to generate holograms. It was also furnished with a pair of navigation screens and a sizable front-facing viewport. Furthermore, an airlock enabled direct docking with starships. For defensive purposes, the Eye was armed with four turbolaser cannons, with two positioned near the bridge and the remaining two adjacent to the port and starboard hyperdrive clusters.
According to Huyang, the architect droid, the Eye represented the most formidable hyperdrive system he had ever encountered. The simultaneous activation of all seven drives to facilitate extragalactic travel generated a ripple effect throughout realspace. This effect was capable of devastating any starships in its path, disabling their deflector shields and avionics, and destroying their engines. As it traversed the galaxy at extreme velocities, it left behind a subtle, circular luminescence akin to phantom energy signatures, visible from numerous star systems afar.

To facilitate travel beyond the galaxy, where established hyperlanes and mapped routes were nonexistent, the Eye incorporated a highly advanced navigation computer. This system was directly linked to a ground station situated on the Henge of Seatos. The station processed the coordinates provided within Morgan Elsbeth's ancient star map, converting them into realspace locations, effectively creating a new route in real time. This process was lengthy and dependent on the map's placement in its designated position within the Seatos reflex point. Removal of the map would render the Eye incapable of independently calculating a course, potentially leading to its loss within the intergalactic void.

To accomplish its primary mission of transporting the severely damaged Chimaera to the target galaxy, the Eye was equipped with two substantial docking clamps situated within the port and starboard engine clusters. These clamps were designed to securely attach to the Star Destroyer's umbilical restocking vestibules once it had maneuvered into the correct position. This procedure could be executed relatively swiftly. Upon successful docking, the Eye would guide the Star Destroyer through the atmosphere, from where the hyperspace jump sequence would be initiated.

The construction of the Eye of Sion was undertaken by Imperial sympathizers under the direction of Morgan Elsbeth, taking place above Seatos. This planet was chosen because Elsbeth believed it to be the point of origin for the Pathway to Peridea, leading to the galaxy where Thrawn was stranded. By 9 ABY, construction was nearing completion. The final hyperdrive core was installed on the ventral cluster by transport CT-O5, which narrowly avoided an inspection of the shipyards by General Hera Syndulla of the New Republic and Ahsoka Tano, a former Jedi Padawan. Despite this, they managed to attach a homing beacon to the Eye, allowing them to track its location.
After confirming the beacon's placement, Sabine Wren, a Mandalorian who had resumed her role as Tano's Jedi Apprentice, accompanied her on a journey to Seatos, where the signal originated. Upon arriving in the Denab system, their shuttle was detected and engaged by Elsbeth's starfighters, led by Shin Hati and Marrok, who attempted to prevent them from reaching the construction site. However, the Jedi successfully approached the Eye closely enough for Huyang, the architect droid, to initiate a scan of the vessel. On the Eye's bridge, Elsbeth was informed of the enemy's approach and ordered the pilot droids to open fire with the ship's turbolasers, successfully disabling their shuttle just as Huyang completed his scan. Nevertheless, Tano and Wren managed to repair the ship sufficiently to escape the site and seek refuge in the forest of Seatos.

By the time Tano and Wren had finished repairing their ship and set out to locate and retrieve the star map, the final hyperdrive core had been installed and was fully operational. Elsbeth instructed her star navigator droids to begin charting the course to the other galaxy, based on the directional data from her star map. She then departed to prepare the Eye for its journey, leaving Baylan Skoll and his apprentice, Shin Hati, to defend the location. Hati, accompanied by Marrok, encountered Wren and Tano in the forest and engaged them in a lightsaber duel, with Tano swiftly defeating Marrok. The Jedi managed to reach the Henge, where they found Skoll awaiting them. Despite his attempts to persuade her to join his cause, Tano fought him. However, distracted by the sudden arrival of Wren and Hati, she was thrown into the ocean by Skoll.

Skoll then turned his attention to Wren, employing a mind trick to discern her feelings and uncover her desire to rescue Ezra Bridger, who was stranded in the other galaxy along with Thrawn. Wren aimed her blaster pistol at the star map, threatening to destroy it. However, Skoll reminded her that doing so would also condemn what she considered to be her only family. Wren reluctantly surrendered the map and herself, allowing Skoll to return the map to its position and complete the calculations for the jump. Accompanied by Hati, they brought Wren aboard the Eye, where Elsbeth awaited them. At that moment, however, New Republic forces under General Syndulla and Captain Carson Teva arrived in the system, following the beacon placed on CT-O5, and moved to engage the ring. Without engaging them, Elsbeth instead ordered an immediate jump to hyperspace. The droids powered up the engines, and the ship successfully jumped through the New Republic squadron, wreaking havoc on their T-65B X-wing starfighters and destroying two of them with the sheer force of its engines.

Following a successful journey that crossed the boundaries of the galaxy and traversed the intergalactic void, the Eye reached its destination: the extragalactic planet of Peridea, the original home of the Dathomiri. After entering the planet's atmosphere, its occupants boarded the Scion shuttle and left the ring in high orbit to land at the temple situated there. After finally meeting with Thrawn at the Great Mothers' Fortress, Enoch, his Captain of the Guard, was sent to the ring as its temporary commander. He organized the deployment of a minefield around the planet in anticipation of Ahsoka Tano's expected arrival. Tano did indeed arrive on the planet some time later, accompanied by a pod of purrgil, which were forced to flee after sustaining severe injuries from the minefield. After being forced into Peridea's graveyard ring by Elsbeth's RP82 Fiend fighters, the Great Mothers used their magick to pinpoint Tano's location, which allowed Enoch to directly target her position with the Eye's turbolasers, damaging her shuttle and forcing her out of hiding and to the planet's surface.

While Tano met up with Wren and Bridger in the Noti village where Bridger was hiding, the transfer of the Great Mothers' pods to the Chimaera's bays was completed. Thrawn ordered the Eye of Sion to descend to the surface and begin the interlocking procedure with the Destroyer, intending to leave Peridea as quickly as possible to prevent the Jedi from stopping him. Indeed, after sending two TIE/ln space superiority starfighters to destroy their shuttle and a number of undead Night Troopers to slow their progress through the Nightsister fortress, the Eye succeeded in departing its docking with only Bridger managing to get on board. Tano and Wren were left behind to battle with newly-ascended Morgan Elsbeth, finishing her off too late for any meaningful intervention. Despite Huyang fixing their shuttle and Wren boosting the engines until they were close enough to attempt to board the Eye in orbit, Thrawn engaged the ring's hyperdrives and escaped Peridea with the Chimaera and his troopers.
The Eye of Sion made its initial appearance in "Part Two: Toil and Trouble," the second episode of the 2023 Disney+ series Ahsoka.
