Force power
A frequently seen manifestation of the Force was telekinesis.
An ability that could be wielded by a Force-sensitive individual, drawing upon the strength of the Force, was known as a Force power. The applications of these powers were diverse, spanning uses in combat, therapeutic practices, practical tasks, entertainment, and the collection of intelligence. Certain abilities, such as heightened reflexes and subtle instances of foresight, could be accessed without any deliberate effort. Conversely, powers like telekinesis or mind tricks necessitated a conscious act of will, although proficiency through training could render their execution seemingly effortless. Paradoxically, in some situations, a deliberate attempt to utilize the Force could actually impede one's capacity to harness it. Certain abilities were exclusively accessible through the light side of the Force, while others were confined to the dark side.
Certain powers, such as Force barriers, held a neutral alignment, and theoretically, any trained Force-sensitive could wield them. Aside from specific abilities typically exclusive to the dark side, like various forms of Force lightning, or the light side, such as the most common method of achieving the state of a Force spirit, there were neutral Force powers that could be aligned with either the light or the dark, depending on their application; mind tricks are an example of this.
Common Force Abilities

A broad spectrum of abilities was available to those capable of harnessing the power of the Force. Among the most frequently employed was telekinesis, the capacity to move or manipulate objects solely through the application of the Force. Jedi and Sith often utilized this to repel adversaries or hurl objects at them. Similarly, an ability known as Force Stasis enabled a Force user to decelerate or completely immobilize an object, person, or even pure energy, as demonstrated in 34 ABY by Kylo Ren, who froze a blaster bolt mid-flight during the Attack on Tuanul. Certain Jedi, such as Cere Junda, possessed the ability to generate Force barriers, like the one employed to shield Cal Kestis from Darth Vader.
Another notable ability was the mind trick, a power that could be used to influence the thoughts and behaviors of another individual, often to the user's advantage. It's important to note that mind tricks were only effective on those with weak minds.

Force visions represented a potent and enigmatic ability that sometimes manifested spontaneously during sleep or even while awake, though the reliability of such visions was not guaranteed. Force users could also, both consciously and innately through their connection to the Force, enhance their inherent athleticism, facilitating speed, coordination, and acrobatic feats exceeding natural limitations. This included the capacity to run along vertical surfaces.
A mind probe was a Force power that allowed the user to delve into the thoughts of others. Resistance to this ability was possible through the Force; skilled Force users could even reverse the effects of the probe and gain insight into the mind of the user. Certain Force users could also employ their power to pacify, as demonstrated by Qui-Gon Jinn on Jar Jar Binks, or even to induce sleep and render a person unconscious, as demonstrated by Kylo Ren on Rey and Mace Windu on Rako Hardeen.
Force sense remained the most fundamental of Force abilities. It could be employed to perceive another being's emotions, glimpse the future, detect disturbances in the Force caused by significant or traumatic events, sense impending danger, and recognize the presence of the dark side. Closely related to force sense and force sight was precognition, the ability to perceive guidance and subtle warnings from the Force regarding imminent events. Jedi and other Force-users utilized this ability to anticipate danger, allowing the Force to alert them to threats. Jedi could also discern the location of concealed beings or enemies from afar, even through barriers, enabling them to locate, engage, or evade them.
Furthermore, by focusing the Force on oneself, coupled with mental fortitude and willpower, a Force user could augment their resilience to harm, particularly against other Force abilities. This typically enabled both adept and skilled practitioners of the Force to defend against attempts by other Force users to restrain, propel, mentally influence, assess, or otherwise affect or harm them with the Force. Consequently, Force users were often less effective at directly influencing one another with the Force and tended to resort to physical attacks to breach their opponents' defenses before attempting a telekinetic assault. However, those possessing sufficient skill or power in the Force could more easily overwhelm such defenses with less effort, rendering themselves virtually immune to having their protection broken by others, making them exceedingly dangerous in direct combat.

Disturbances in the Force arose from significant events, such as widespread death or the presence of potent Force users, whose presence in the Force was pronounced. These disturbances could be quite intense; when nearly all Jedi were slain by Order 66, Yoda experienced physical pain, despite being on Kashyyyk, thousands of light-years away. Less significant occurrences could also trigger disturbances in the Force; when Darth Sidious killed Mace Windu, Saesee Tiin, Agen Kolar, and Kit Fisto, Yoda again sensed their demise. It is plausible that Yoda's exceptional power enabled him to perceive such events while others could not, explaining why few other Jedi felt the deaths of either group in the same manner as Yoda, although Jedi like Jaro Tapal were among those who did, potentially leading them to seek refuge.
Access to the Jedi Temple on Lothal, as well as its gateway to the World Between Worlds, and the holocrons utilized by both Jedi and Sith, was restricted to those with Force abilities, safeguarding them from external intrusion. The painting of the Ones on Lothal, granting entry to the World Between Worlds, could only be unlocked with the light side of the Force. The sole alternative means of entry involved a connection with a light side user, as demonstrated by Darth Sidious when he harnessed the fiery energy generated by a Sith ritual to latch onto Ezra Bridger and temporarily gain access to the World Between Worlds.

Exceedingly powerful Force users and Force entities possessed a range of uncommon abilities. For instance, the Father, one of the Ones, wielded such immense power in the Force that he could touch a lightsaber blade without sustaining any injury, while the Son could possess others. Both the Son and the Daughter were also capable of shapeshifting. Bendu, "the one in the middle," existing in neither the light nor the dark, could materialize and vanish at will. Bendu could manifest as and conjure massive storms using the Force.
Skilled Force users could teleport, as demonstrated by the Force wielders, the Nightsisters, and Dorwin Corvax. The latter possessed the ability to halt time.
Employing the Force for demanding applications and extended durations could exhaust users, leaving them drained and injured, or, when unleashed in vast quantities, even prove fatal to those overtaxed.
Abilities of the Light Side

The capacity to maintain consciousness as a Force spirit after death was a rare Force power exclusive to certain orders, such as the Force Priestesses and a select few Jedi. Mastery of this ability necessitated specialized training, but those who achieved it could continue to exert influence in the realm of the living even after their physical body perished. This influence extended to Force usage, as evidenced by Yoda destroying Ahch-To's uneti tree with lightning.
During his encounters with Count Dooku and Darth Sidious, Yoda demonstrated the ability to absorb Force lightning with his hands and, in his duel with Dooku, redirect it back at the Sith. Deflecting Force lightning with a lightsaber was also possible.
Several Jedi, including Quinlan Vos and Cal Kestis, possessed an ability known as psychometry, which allowed them to perceive the events associated with an object or location. This ability could be highly vivid, encompassing visuals and sounds. The ability was inherent, though proficiency required practice.
Jedi could tame animals using the Force.
At least one Jedi, Sta-Den Eekin, could employ his power to cloud the minds of large crowds.
Luke Skywalker believed that the Force manifested in Leia as her unwavering willpower.
Luke Skywalker demonstrated the ability to utilize Force projection across the galaxy, transmitting a lifelike image of himself from Ahch-To to Crait, light-years away. This projection was so convincing that Kylo Ren failed to detect any deception until he attempted to strike Skywalker down with his lightsaber and failed. However, the exertion of creating such a projection proved fatal for Skywalker, who was still reestablishing his connection with the Force after having previously severed it. A similar form of projection, employed by Yoda, enabled a Force user to communicate with another located thousands of light-years away.
Numerous Force users, including Yoda, Grogu, Rey, and Ben Solo, demonstrated the ability to utilize Force healing, an ability that allowed them to mend injuries and neutralize poisons by transferring life force from the healer, which could be replenished through rest or meditation. In the rare instance of a Force dyad, the power could even resurrect the recently deceased, albeit at the cost of the user's own life. Ben Solo employed this ability to resurrect Rey in 35 ABY.
Dark Side Abilities

Those who embraced the dark side of the Force, such as the Sith, tapped into intense emotions, particularly negative feelings like fear, hatred, and anger, as well as aspirations for greater power, to access abilities rarely practiced by those aligned with the light, such as the Jedi.
Darth Plagueis was a formidable Sith Lord so adept in the dark side of the Force that he could manipulate midi-chlorians to create life and prevent death. Other dark side methods of self-restoration included draining vitality from others and utilizing dark potions for healing.
Force lightning was a potent dark-side ability in which a Force user emitted pure Force energy, in the form of electricity, from their fingertips. This lightning could inflict severe pain, permanent damage, and, if the target was exposed to a sufficient amount, death. The lightning was so powerful that even the caster was not immune to its effects. Darth Vader was unable to wield Force lightning due to the injuries he sustained during the Duel on Mustafar. Typically, Force lightning was blue, though other colors were possible; for instance, the Son's lightning was red. Some lightsiders also used lightning, such as Rey and Yoda.

Certain Sith, including Palpatine, possessed an ability called Dark Aura, which was a form of Force lightning that manifested as a damaging and slowing miasma. Another dark side battle ability was focused rage, which amplified the user's aggression and potency while simultaneously reducing the damage they sustained.
The dark side also served as the source of both Sith and Nightsister magick. Sith magic (or Sith alchemy, which could manifest as blue flames, was utilized by Palpatine to access the World Between Worlds and conjure illusions. Sith alchemy was also employed to reinforce Kylo Ren's helmet when it was reconstructed by Albrekh. Unlike other Force techniques, Sith alchemy sometimes required the Sith's blood. Nightsister magick typically took the form of green mist and had various applications. For example, it could temporarily reanimate corpses as zombies and was used by Mother Talzin to reveal to Savage Opress that his brother Maul had survived the duel on Naboo. The Nightsisters also possessed the ability to teleport themselves and others. Additionally, their magick could serve as a shield to deflect blaster bolts, enable levitation, and even grant invisibility.
Palpatine employed the dark side of the Force to transfer his consciousness into a clone after being betrayed by Darth Vader.
The Inquisitor known as the Second Sister could utilize the Force to move at incredibly high speeds for brief periods. However, this ability is also common among light side users.
Snoke could manipulate the Force-bond between Rey and Ben Solo, enabling them to see each other (though not their surroundings) across vast distances and engage in conversation. Matter and objects could sometimes pass between individuals within a Force dyad, which Rey deliberately utilized to pass a lightsaber to Ben Solo during the Battle of Exegol.
Force Abilities in the Unknown Regions
Due to a series of ancient supernovae, the Unknown Regions presented extreme navigational challenges, forcing travelers to undertake lengthy series of short jumps through hyperspace. However, certain beings could employ the Force power of precognition to navigate, circumventing the need for "jump-by-jump" travel. Many of these Force-sensitives, such as Qilori of Uandualon, were employed by the Navigators' Guild and contracted by other entities, such as the Chiss Ascendancy. Humans could also navigate using the Force. After receiving encouragement from Grand Admiral Thrawn, Darth Vader successfully learned the skill and guided the Star Destroyer Chimaera through hyperspace.
The Chiss also possessed Force-sensitive navigators, whom they referred to as ozyly-esehembo, Cheunh for "sky-walkers." However, this fact was concealed from non-Chiss, and the Ascendancy often hired external navigators. Unlike most species, where Force powers were evenly distributed, sky-walkers were almost exclusively female. Additionally, and similarly unusually, sky-walkers almost always lost their powers by adulthood, except in Vah'nya's case. Sky-walkers could utilize two powers, termed Second Sight and Third Sight. Second Sight referred to telepathy, while Third Sight referred to precognition. The latter was far more prevalent.
