Trade Federation Script

Trade Federation Script, alternatively called Trade Federation Basic, served as a writing system for transcribing Galactic Basic Standard. The Trade Federation utilized it. The Confederacy of Independent Systems adopted it by the time of the Clone Wars.

Form

This script, Trade Federation Script, encompassed a minimum of 26 characters and employed a base-10 positional number system. It allowed for both horizontal writing, progressing from left to right, and vertical writing, descending from top to bottom.

History

High Republic Era

During a Jedi evaluation, a young Osha Aniseya was tasked with interpreting images displayed on a testing screen. Jedi Master Sol held the screen, facing away from Osha. The screen presented various patterns and small symbols, mostly unfamiliar, but some originated from the Trade Federation's alphabet.

Later, as an older Osha and her fellow meknek Fillik were repairing the shield generator on the Trade Federation freighter Fallon, a monitor within the ship displayed "WARNING" using Trade Federation Script.

A series of symbols appeared on the viewscreen of Jedi Knight Yord Fandar's macrobinoculars. While most were unknown, an R and a stylized Z, rendered in the distinctive script of the Trade Federation, were recognizable.

Republic Era

The Trade Federation Script's numerals were used in the display of Darth Maul's macrobinoculars while he was searching for Queen Amidala on Tatooine.

One of the B1 battle droids that deactivated during the Battle of Naboo had "1138" displayed on its comlink booster pack using the script's numerals. The computer within the Droid Control Ship, which was used to activate the Trade Federation Droid Army, also utilized this alphabet.

During the Battle of Geonosis, a B1 battle droid firing at opposing Jedi while Mace Windu deflected a blaster shot into an OOM command battle droid had "1138" printed on its booster pack.

Blueprints of the Jedi Temple contained text in Aurebesh letters, alongside numbers written in Trade Federation Script. The temple hangar blueprints included "AB281", "DELTA-7," and "DELTA-7 AETHERSPRITE," while the Analysis Rooms blueprints showed "FLOOR 47" and "3263827 ANALYSIS". A list of specifications for an SP-4 analysis droid included "IC-GR8 ANALYSIS DROID."

The T-series military strategic analysis and tactics droid, also known as T1, displayed the letter L on its chest. Some versions of the droid also featured the letter on its head.

During the Battle of Lola Sayu, a T1's computer screen displayed this alphabet. A cargo shuttle scan read: "SEPARATIST ESCORT SHUTTLE CLASS TYPE B" . "SCAN COMPLETE" . "SUPPLIES" . "BEVERAGES" . "FOOD" . "MORE FOOD" . "GUNS" . "GENERAL SUPPLIES" . "FROZEN RATIONS" . "ANAKIN SKYWA[obscured]" . "CARBONITE" . "METAL", accompanied by the options "DESTROY" and "LET PASS".

During the Clone Wars, the name of "CATO", a dance establishment on Coruscant's Level 1312 and 1313, was rendered using this alphabet. Towards the end of the Clone Wars, monitors on General Grievous' flagship, the Invisible Hand, also displayed this alphabet.

Imperial Era

Computer at Nixus Hub 218 – screen says "LOCKED TURBOLIFT"

During a mission to liberate Jedi Master Luminara Unduli from the Spire, Sabine Wren accessed a computer displaying this alphabet. The screen showed "LOCKED TURBOLIFT". This same text was visible on a computer used by crime lord Azmorigan at Nixus Hub 218.

During the Galactic Civil War, a sign on Hradreek displayed "FOODS" in both Aurebesh and Trade Federation Script.

New Republic era

The console of the racing starfighter Fireball used Trade Federation Script. The messages "WARNING" : "CHECK OIL" and "SYSTEM" : "WARNING" appeared frequently when Kazuda Xiono piloted it. This occurred when the young pilot was powering up the Fireball for the race against Torra Doza, and during the race itself. Later, it appeared while Xiono was flying the Fireball over Castilon, and during a training exercise with Ace Squadron. At times, the console displayed only "SYSTEM" : "WARNING". This happened when Xiono was on a mission to rescue Torra Doza from pirates, and during the mission to the Dassal system. On other occasions, only "WARNING" : "CHECK OIL" was displayed. This occurred during the Battle of Castilon and another training exercise with Ace Squadron.

When Sidon Ithano encountered Drell and Kragan Gorr on an asteroid, small red monitors on crates unloaded from the Meson Martinet displayed "LOCKED". Subsequently, the monitors turned green and displayed "UNLOCKED". A datapad used by Neeku Vozo while repairing a B1-series battle droid showed:

A schematic of Mister Bones displayed "B1 BATTLE DROID" in Trade Federation Script. It also included the numbers "180" (once) and "360" (twice).
