Jeedai heresy

The Jeedai heresy represented a deviation from the established True Way, playing a crucial role in the conclusion of the Yuuzhan Vong War.

Historical Context

The genesis of this heresy occurred on Yavin 4, shortly after the Yuuzhan Vong invasion that led to the displacement of the New Jedi Order. Anakin Solo, in an effort to rescue Tahiri Veila, encountered Vua Rapuung, a former Warrior. Rapuung had been made to appear as a Shamed One by his former lover, Mezhan Kwaad, who was also Tahiri's captor. Anakin and Vua formed an alliance against their shared adversary. The confrontation with Kwaad led to her confession regarding Rapuung's shaming and her subsequent fatal wounding of him, followed by Tahiri's act of beheading her. The redemption of Rapuung by the Jedi inspired other Shamed Ones to believe in the possibility of universal redemption.

Despite attempts by Warmaster Tsavong Lah to suppress news of the Vua Rapuung incident and the "heresy" itself, it continued to spread within Yuuzhan Vong space among the Shamed Ones, lower-class workers, and slaves. By the time Shimrra Jamaane, the Supreme Overlord of the Yuuzhan Vong, arrived on Yuuzhan'tar, the heretics lacked organization, and their interpretations of Rapuung's redemption varied. High Priest Jakan, the leader of the Priest caste, advocated for the hunting and execution of the heretics, but Shimrra opted for a warning approach. Jakan inadvertently contributed to their doctrine by asserting that Jaina Solo and Jacen Solo had no connection to Yun-Harla, the Trickster, and Yun-Yammka, the Slayer. Nevertheless, the groups remained fragmented.

The situation shifted after the Battle of Ebaq, when Nom Anor was compelled to flee Shimrra following the death of Warmaster Tsavong Lah. Recognizing an opportunity to usurp Shimrra's power, Anor adopted the persona of Yu'shaa, the Prophet, and began to shape their doctrine. Yu'shaa proclaimed that the Force represented the remaining exaltations of Yun-Yuuzhan, the Creator God of the Yuuzhan Vong, who perished in the act of creating the Universe. Anor later secured an alliance with Ngaaluh, a priestess of Yun-Harla, who, upon learning of the heresy, embraced it as the Truth. Ngaaluh became Anor's informant within Shimrra's Citadel, providing false accusations against Anor's rivals in the intendant caste in an attempt to eliminate Shimrra's most capable prefects.

After several weeks, Shimrra uncovered Ngaaluh's treachery and ordered her interrogation, but Ngaaluh chose suicide. Deprived of his spy and facing declining conversion rates, Yu'shaa declared the planet Zonama Sekot as the home of the Jedi and a new haven for the Shamed Ones. Upon discovering Zonama Sekot, Anor offered to destroy it for Shimrra in exchange for a reward. Anor's attempt to sabotage Zonama Sekot failed. Despite Yu'shaa's disappearance, the heresy gained momentum. When Zonama Sekot materialized in the skies of Coruscant, the heretics believed their redemption was imminent and rebelled against Shimrra and the Elite. The resulting chaos proved instrumental to the Galactic Alliance during the Battle of Yuuzhan'tar. Following the battle, the Shamed Ones were renamed the Extolled, finally achieving the equality they had sought on Zonama Sekot.
