Meatlumps

The Meatlumps, alternatively referred to as the Meatlump Gang, constituted a group of fanatical, technology-averse criminals, thugs, and terrorists who operated on Corellia during the era of the Galactic Civil War.

Description

Originally, the Meatlumps were a faction of anti-technology hoodlums and petty criminals hailing from Corellia. The Corellian Security Force characterized them as "fanatical" and "somewhat dim-witted" individuals who vehemently opposed technological advancement. The majority of Meatlumps dedicated their time to the destruction of technological devices. While they typically refrained from directly targeting individuals, their fanatical and destructive tendencies rendered them highly dangerous. Indeed, their actions resulted in thousands of indirect victims. Furthermore, certain Meatlumps escalated to terrorism, readily deploying bombs in densely populated urban centers to achieve their objectives.

The Meatlumps primarily established their base of operations on Corellia, where they took refuge in the derelict maintenance tunnels located beneath the city of Coronet. Within this clandestine hideout, the Meatlump King resided and presided over his followers. Given their aversion to technology, the majority of Meatlumps eschewed space travel. Nevertheless, they managed to establish a limited presence on Talus, Naboo, Rori, Lok, and Tatooine.

Nearly all members of the Meatlump Gang were of Human descent. They typically donned red attire and sported brightly colored hair. The Meatlump hierarchy included ranks such as dunder, lunk, donk, simp, nerp, lieutenant, captain, and decider. The gang even adopted its own form of currency, known as the Meatlump Lump.

The Meatlumps were engaged in open conflict with the Corellian Security Force, as well as the Rogue CorSecs and Beldonna's League. Moreover, a deeply hostile relationship existed between the Meatlumps and the Ragtag gang. The Ragtags harbored intense animosity towards the Meatlumps, despite the Meatlumps largely ignoring their existence.

History

The Meatlump King.

The Meatlumps were founded by a former Imperial scientist who regretted his involvement in the development of weapons for the Empire. When Imperial assassins attempted to eliminate him, his three sons, whom the CorSec authorities described as "dullards in their own right," assisted the Meatlump King in establishing the Meatlumps, naming the gang after their favorite food. These three brothers—Hraykken, Draykken, and Louis Bender—were, in fact, taken by the King from their abusive biological father, the mad scientist Lucien Bender. While the Meatlump King served as the ideological and public figurehead of the Meatlumps, the Bender brothers managed the daily operations of the gang's activities. In retaliation, their father Lucien created the Bofa Treat Gang, also named after food, and placed a bounty on his three sons.

Following the Battle of Yavin, the conflict with the Ragtags continued to escalate. The Ragtags once vandalized the Coronet Starport in an attempt to frame the Meatlumps and incite trouble for them. Furthermore, the violent assaults perpetrated by a group of Ragtags led by Gramo Murah forced the Meatlump band led by Strilath Farles to flee Corellia and relocate to the planet Talus.

A contingent of Meatlumps, including Ubbal Fenn, Pech Seki, and Hrath Koo, maintained a base in a cave near the city of Tyrena. In 1 ABY, they attacked the starship captain Osto Grissom due to his history of transporting electronics and harassed Teilo Monnro's shop in Tyrena.

In the aftermath of the Battle of Yavin, the activities of the Meatlumps became the subject of investigation by Vani Korr, a journalist for the Corellia Times, who received assistance from an unidentified traveler. Around 1 ABY, Vani Korr published an article titled Who are the Meatlumps?. In the article she revealed that while displaying the behavior of mere thugs, the Meatlumps had actually never directly caused the death of anyone. She suggested that they actually viewed people as obstacles rather than targets, and once out of the way, they were ignored. Instead, the Meatlumps seemed to focus on technological devices, and that whenever they did attack anyone, it was usually to acquire one such device. Korr had herself been attacked by the Meatlumps, but as soon as she was no longer an obstacle for them, they ignored her and focused on her speeder. She concluded that they were dangerous, and could reveal that they were led by the three Bender brothers. Vani Korr and the spacer later continued to investigate the Meatlumps as they wished to determine whether the Meatlump King truly existed. The reporter started tracking crimes of vandalism against machinery and technology in order to find some Meatlumps. She finally received word that a Meatlump was smashing generators in Coronet. This old Meatlump, Alliin Mepou, was quite disillusioned but he could not retire from the Meatlumps unless a new person take his place. The spacer, who realized he could use this situation to infiltrate the Meatlumps, indeed accepted to replace the old man. The spacer therefore went to work for Alliin Mepou's lieutenant, Kaiya Merel. The spacer performed several missions for the lieutenant, including killing one of her rivals, another Meatlump lieutenant by the name Stephax Dain, and attacking a Weapons Research Facility on Rori. Kaiya Merel therefore accepted the spacer among the Meatlumps and gave to her new recruit full access to the secret Meatlump Hideout. The spacer was one of the few non-Meatlumps who entered the Meatlump Hideout and finally encountered the fabled Meatlump King. The information gathered in the hideout allowed Vani Korr to finalize her article. She revealed the presence of the Meatlump Hideout below the streets of Coronet and the existence of the Meatlump King.

The Meatlump King is apprehended by a CorSec agent.

Simultaneously, another reporter from the Corellia Times, Halden Wes, joined the investigation, focusing on the Meatlumps' terrorist activities, particularly those occurring outside their home planet. Indeed, the Meatlumps had established camps near the cities of Tyrena, Kor Vella, and Doaba Guerfel on Corellia; Nashal on Talus; Theed and Moenia on Naboo; Narmle on Rori; Nym's Stronghold on Lok; and near Wayfar and Mos Taike on Tatooine, where they amassed substantial quantities of supplies, food, weapons, and explosives. They also planted bombs in several of these cities. As the Meatlumps appeared to be plotting terrorist attacks, Halden Wes enlisted a spacer to raid the Meatlump camps. The spacer journeyed to each of these worlds and plundered the camps.

Later that year, Hraykken and Draykken Bender dispatched a spacer affiliated with the Meatlumps to attack a droid factory that manufactured helper droids on Corellia. Shortly thereafter, Bossk, a Trandoshan bounty hunter, captured Louis Bender. The spacer rescued Louis and, in the process, killed his biological father, Lucien Bender.

At some point, a Corellian Security Force agent infiltrated the hideout and apprehended the Meatlump King at blasterpoint in his throne room.

Behind the scenes

The Meatlumps made their debut in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts, before its closure on December 15, 2011.

The Meatlumps' backstory was unveiled through Vani Korr's quest line, "Corellian Times Investigations," which was integrated into the game with "Publish 21," released on August 4, 2005. This narrative was subsequently expanded upon extensively with the introduction of the "Meatlumps Theme Park" in "Chapter 10: The Search for the Meatlump King," which was released on June 19, 2008.
