Jaius Yorub, a native of Sullust, held the rank of naval officer within the Galactic Alliance Defense Force. During the Sith–Imperial War, which spanned from 127 to 130 ABY, he served as the captain of the MC140 Scythe-class main battle cruiser named Indomitable. This vessel functioned as the flagship for the Galactic Alliance Core Fleet, under the leadership of Admiral Gar Stazi. In the climactic Battle of Caamas of 130 ABY, rather than surrender to the united might of the Fel Empire and the One Sith, Stazi led a portion of the Core Fleet into a resistance. Yorub chose to accompany the admiral into their self-imposed exile.
For the subsequent seven years, Yorub acted as Stazi's aide and close advisor, as the Core Fleet continued to champion the ideals of the Galactic Alliance. In 137 ABY, Yorub and Stazi formulated a plan to steal the Imperious, the prototype of the new Imperious-class Star Destroyer series, then under construction at the shipyards in orbit around the planet Dac. During the resulting battle, the Indomitable sustained critical damage, and Yorub was wounded. Stazi was prepared to sacrifice himself in a suicidal attack by crashing the Indomitable into the shipyards, but Yorub recognized that the Alliance's survival depended on the Duros admiral. He instructed Lieutenant Jhoram Bey, the commander of the renowned Rogue Squadron, to evacuate the admiral from the Indomitable. The Weequay pilot accomplished this by striking Stazi, rendering him unconscious. With Stazi safely away from the Indomitable, Yorub piloted the vessel into the shipyards, giving his life by triggering an explosion that destroyed both the ship and a third of the docking facilities.
Jaius Yorub was a career officer of Sullustan descent within the Galactic Alliance Defense Force in the years leading up to the Sith–Imperial War. Achieving the rank of captain, he commanded the MC140 Scythe-class main battle cruiser Indomitable, which served as the flagship for Admiral Gar Stazi, a Duros. The Indomitable belonged to the Galactic Alliance Core Fleet, a military unit responsible for the protection of the capital planet Coruscant and the surrounding Core Worlds.
Yorub's service continued throughout the Sith–Imperial War—a war between the Galactic Alliance and the combined armies of the Fel Empire and One Sith—where he served as both Admiral Stazi's aide and the commander of his flagship. In 130 ABY, he attended a gathering of the Galactic Alliance's Triumvirate when Rear Admiral Piers Petan unveiled a plan to attack a clandestine meeting between Emperor Roan Fel and representatives from the Chiss Ascendancy and the Hapes Consortium near the planet Caamas. Petan's strategy involved a major strike at the meeting location, including the deployment of the Core Fleet, which would weaken Coruscant's defenses. Despite Admiral Stazi's suspicion that the information was a trap, the Triumvirate approved Petan's proposal. As the meeting concluded, Stazi and Yorub began preparations to maintain an escape route at Caamas, utilizing hyperspace routes known only to experienced spacers.

During the subsequent Battle of Caamas, Stazi's concerns were confirmed as Alliance forces encountered an Imperial fleet led by Grand Admiral Morlish Veed. Simultaneously, the Sith feinted an attack on Coruscant, tying up the Jedi Order and preventing them from reinforcing the Alliance fleet at Caamas. Captain Yorub informed Admiral Stazi of this development shortly before Rear Admiral Petan announced to the fleet that he had agreed to surrender terms with Grand Admiral Veed, ordering Alliance forces to stand down. Yorub expressed his belief that the situation was hopeless, and that the Empire would control the capital within a day. However, Stazi refused to surrender and broadcast to all Alliance forces that any unit wishing to continue resisting the Sith and the Empire should join him aboard the Indomitable. Yorub reported that some Alliance ships and fighters were joining them; Stazi instructed him to use the Indomitable to protect vessels that had sustained heavy damage. Yorub complied and also connected a hologram of Admiral Nict, commander of the Pride of Corellia. Stazi informed Nict of his intention to use hyperlanes known to spacers to escape Caamas. As the fleet prepared to jump, Yorub reported that the Pride of Corellia had suffered a fatal hit and was destroyed. Stazi acknowledged that there would be time to mourn later and ordered the fleet to jump into hyperspace.

After the Battle of Caamas, Admiral Stazi continued his resistance against the Sith Empire with the available forces. Yorub remained in command of the Indomitable and served as Stazi's advisor and confidant. In 137 ABY, Yorub attended a meeting between Stazi and Monia Gahan, a Mon Calamari member of Rogue Squadron—the Galactic Alliance's elite starfighter squadron—and the niece of former Galactic Alliance Triumvir Gial Gahan. Stazi intended to seize the Imperious, the first ship of the new Imperious-class Star Destroyer series, which was being constructed in the shipyards around the water planet Dac, the homeworld of the Mon Calamari and Quarren races. Stazi had sent Gahan to persuade her uncle to assist them in their endeavor. Stazi wanted the ship to enhance his force's military capabilities and prevent its use by the Sith Empire. Gahan informed Stazi and Yorub that her uncle would assist them by providing the security codes for the planetary and shipyard defense networks. When Yorub inquired about her uncle's intentions after the Alliance completed their mission, Gahan told them that he planned to stay behind and take responsibility for the incident.
After Gahan left, Stazi asked Yorub for his opinion on the mission. The Sullustan replied that it resembled the previous incident at Caamas, which the Duros admiral agreed with. They both suspected that the Imperious was being used as bait in a trap set by Imperial Admiral Dru Valan, who had failed to prevent Stazi's retreat from the Battle of Caamas and harbored a personal grudge. Yorub voiced his concerns, stating that they should not risk their forces as they were all that remained of the Galactic Alliance. However, the admiral refused to consider that option, believing that the Alliance needed the Imperious to conduct military strikes or risk becoming another pirate fleet. Despite this, he noted that if one knew the location of a trap, it could be used to their advantage.

Stazi outlined his plan to capture the Imperious: Gial Gahan would disable the planetary and shipyard defenses, while Galactic Alliance Core Fleet Commandos would storm the Star Destroyer and subdue its crew. Once the capture was complete, Stazi intended to jump in with elements of the Core Fleet to secure the prize and escort it to safety. However, he also anticipated that Admiral Valan would predict his tactics and counter them by retaking control of both the defense network and the Imperious. In response, Stazi positioned Monia Gahan on the Mon Calamari Shipyards with remote access to the defense networks, ready to bring them under Alliance control at the appropriate time. Hondo Karr—a former Imperial stormtrooper from the 407th who defected after the Battle of Borosk—led a second force of commandos disguised as Imperial troopers onto the Imperious, posing as the units intending to reclaim the Star Destroyer from the Alliance assault force. With everything in place, Stazi led the Core Fleet to Dac. Yorub commanded the Indomitable from his side, was present on the bridge as the ship exited hyperspace, and listened as Admiral Valan demanded Stazi's surrender, believing that he had trapped the Alliance fleet between his own Outer Rim Third Fleet and the shipyard defenses.
Stazi ordered the Core Fleet to engage the Imperial fleet, with the Indomitable leading the assault. Admiral Valan ordered the shipyard defenses to target Stazi's fleet, unaware that the Alliance had regained control of them. The combined fire from the Core Fleet and the shipyards inflicted heavy damage on several vessels in the Imperial formation. Yorub monitored the battle as it unfolded, informing Stazi that Karr's team had regained control of the Imperious and that their own shields were failing. Stazi responded by ordering the Imperious to head for the rendezvous point and instructing the Indomitable and the fleet to move behind the shipyards, using them as a shield between Valan's fleet and their own. Yorub complied with both orders.

Taking cover behind the docks, Stazi instructed Yorub to relay instructions to the fleet to maneuver around Dac, using the planet as a shield before jumping to hyperspace, while they remained in position with the Indomitable to cover the withdrawal. Admiral Valan, believing that Stazi's death would signify the end of the Alliance, ordered his forces to fire through the docks to strike the Indomitable. The vessel sustained several critical hits along its forward blade, and an explosion on the bridge injured Yorub, throwing him off the command pedestal. Stazi rushed to Yorub's aid, intending to get him medical attention before implementing the final part of his plan. He intended to detonate the Indomitable in the heart of the shipyards, crippling warship production; to this end, he ordered the crew to transfer all command and control functions to the bridge and then abandon ship. However, Jhoram Bey, the leader of Rogue Squadron, had returned to the vessel after losing communication with the Admiral. Stazi intended to remain on the Indomitable until the end, sacrificing himself. He ordered Bey to evacuate Yorub in his CF9 Crossfire starfighter. Yorub, however, refused to leave, believing that Stazi—as a symbol of the Alliance—needed to stay alive to lead their forces. He believed that Stazi held the Alliance together, that others would rally to him, and that his death would devastate the Core Fleet. Yorub intended to take the Indomitable in, but Stazi still refused, believing that the task should fall to him as the commanding officer, and not considering the idea of himself being a symbol as important. Yorub turned to Bey and ordered him to "do his duty;" Bey complied, striking the admiral and knocking him unconscious. As Bey evacuated Stazi in his starfighter, Yorub took control of the Indomitable. Broadcasting his resolve and commitment to the Galactic Alliance, Yorub crashed the vessel into the shipyards. The resulting explosion destroyed the ship and killed Yorub, but the Alliance force was able to withdraw with the Imperious.

Yorub's sacrifice resulted in the destruction of a third of the Mon Calamari Shipyards, with a further quarter heavily damaged. Admiral Stazi estimated that it would take the Empire several years to restore productivity at the docks. Stazi's survival was crucial to the Galactic Alliance, as the Duros had become seen as the heart of the movement. Yorub's death necessitated a replacement for his second-in-command, leading to Jhoram Bey's promotion to the position, partly as a punishment for striking a superior officer. The successful capture of the Imperious, along with the successful rescue of Alliance personnel by Imperial Knights Sigel Dare and Treis Sinde from detention centers on Dac in the aftermath of the battle, was instrumental in laying the groundwork for an alliance between the Core Fleet and Emperor Roan Fel's Empire-in-exile. However, Yorub's sacrifice did have a negative consequence; Darth Krayt took note of the Mon Calamari's assistance in the theft of the Imperious. Despite Gial Gahan's claim that he acted alone, Krayt punished the entire Mon Calamari race by initiating an extermination program against them for their collaboration.
Jaius Yorub possessed black hair and eyes and light brown skin. He was deeply committed to the ideals of the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances. During the Sith–Imperial War, he served with dedication and accompanied Admiral Stazi into self-imposed exile following the Battle of Caamas to preserve a remnant of the Galactic Alliance. Yorub and Stazi maintained a close working relationship, addressing each other by their first names despite the difference in rank. Yorub served as Stazi's primary advisor, using his cautious nature to balance the Duros admiral's bold behavior. He recognized that Stazi was more than just the leader of the Galactic Alliance; he was its heart and a symbol that inspired others. He feared that Stazi's loss would doom the remnants of the Alliance. To prevent this, he sacrificed his own life to save Stazi's, even when offered a chance of rescue, knowing that the Alliance could survive without him.
Yorub was a skilled and effective commander, well-versed in combat tactics and strategies and their application to various situations. He was also a proficient linguist, capable of speaking Basic, Binary, Bocce, Bothese, Durese, Mon Calamarian and Sullustese.
