Karre, a clone of a human male with Force-sensitivity, shared a secret origin with his twin sister, Am: they were created using the dark side of the Force and groomed to be a Dark Lord within a remnant faction of the Galactic Empire called the T-Empire. Karre once experienced a vision foretelling Am's death if she continued to use the power emanating from a kyber crystal. Following the Battle of Exegol in 35 ABY, while stationed on a Gemini-class Star Destroyer, Karre stole the kyber crystal that fueled both his and his sister's dark armor, as well as the Star Destroyer's hyper cannon superweapon, hoping to prevent Am from succumbing to its influence. After seizing the power core containing the crystal from the Star Destroyer, Karre attempted an escape, only to be intercepted by Am. Aided by his astromech droid companion R-DUO, Karre commandeered a T-X-wing starfighter and piloted it in an attempt to flee the Star Destroyer. However, before he could successfully escape, Am used the Force to pull Karre back onto the ship's hull.
The siblings clashed over the power core, their struggle leading to its destruction and the exposure of the kyber crystal within, which also shattered amidst their conflict. Both then experienced the vision of Am's impending demise, prompting Karre to implore Am to resist using the crystal's power. Defiantly, she instead integrated a fragment of it into her armor, and attacked Karre with several lightwhips. Karre fought back, but Am ultimately cast him into the void of space. R-DUO caught him in their X-wing, and he witnessed Am's armor overloading, causing her to lose control. To rescue her, Karre directed the X-wing towards Am, activating his lightsaber, which amplified in size. Utilizing the X-wing's hyperdrive, he cleaved through the Star Destroyer and Am's armor, obliterating the kyber crystal and saving her life. Karre and R-DUO then initiated their jump to hyperspace, ultimately crash-landing on the planet of Tatooine.

Karre, a Force-sensitive human male clone, was secretly created with his twin sister Am through sophisticated cloning methods and the influence of the dark side of the Force. From his earliest days, Karre was groomed to become a Dark Lord within the army of a remnant of the Galactic Empire, known as the T-Empire, with the goal of the twins ruling the galaxy. Sith cultists oversaw the twins' creation. Later, a droid named B-2ON became their loyal servant and caretaker. The astromech droid R-DUO also served the twins, developing into a steadfast companion for Karre. While standing alongside several cultists, Karre experienced a vision of Am's death resulting from her utilization of a kyber crystal's power.

Sometime after the Battle of Exegol in 35 ABY, both Karre and Am found themselves aboard a Gemini-class Star Destroyer as it and its planet-destroying hyper cannon [superweapon](/article/superweapon] underwent final adjustments. Accompanied by R-DUO, Karre proceeded between two rows of T-Stormtroopers and entered the Star Destroyer's reactor core chamber, where he stole the power core containing the kyber crystal that fueled both the ship and the dark armor worn by the twins. His intention was to escape with it in order to safeguard Am.
In her throne room, Am received a status report from B-2ON regarding the ongoing adjustments. B-2ON mentioned observing Am and Karre's growth and expressed his anticipation for their mission's completion. Am responded by stating that she and her brother would establish order throughout the galaxy. B-2ON continued his report, noting the hyper cannon's charging status and its impending full strength. However, he voiced concerns about the potential effects of their dark armor, which, like the hyper cannon, was powered by dark energy from the kyber crystal, on Am and Karre's bodies. Just as Am issued the command to fire the weapon, an alarm sounded, accompanied by a report from a T-Imperial crew member about the theft of the reactor core's power source, preventing the hyper cannon from charging. B-2ON expressed surprise, as only Am and Karre had access to the reactor core chamber. However, upon turning her gaze towards Karre's empty throne room, Am realized he was responsible for stealing the power core.

As Karre and R-DUO traversed the ship, Karre assured his droid that they would evade capture. However, upon opening a door, they encountered a group of T-Stormtroopers. Karre proceeded past them, disregarding their orders to halt. When they fired stun blasts at him, Karre used the Force to freeze the projectiles. After apologizing to the soldiers, he pushed them against the corridor wall. Karre and R-DUO continued until they reached a hangar, where they intended to escape aboard a T-X-wing starfighter. Before they could reach their destination, they were confronted by Am, B-2ON, a larger contingent of T-Stormtroopers, and two All Terrain Scout Transports.
At Karre's cue, R-DUO slipped away to commandeer their X-wing. Am attempted to persuade Karre to return the stolen power core, while B-2ON expressed his disappointment. In response, Karre removed his helmet and discarded it on the floor, then activated a button on his dark armor, causing it to disintegrate. After hearing Karre's refusal, Am inquired whether he intended to deliver the power core to the Republic. Karre replied that he held no allegiance to either the Republic or the Empire, but that Am would not comprehend his motivations even if he explained them. Am then declared her intention to seize the power core by force, igniting two of her lightsabers and preparing to engage Karre. Just as she did, R-DUO powered up the X-wing and fired upon Am, who employed the Force to project a barrier that redirected the shots into her own forces, allowing Karre to escape. Once Karre reached the starfighter's cockpit, he piloted it out of the hangar, away from the Star Destroyer.

Before Karre could gain significant distance, Am used the Force to retrieve the power core while standing on the Star Destroyer's hull. As Karre clung to it, both he and the core were ejected from the X-wing, which subsequently crashed onto the Star Destroyer. Upon landing on the ship's surface, Karre relinquished his grip on the power core, allowing Am to pull it towards her. Before it reached her, Karre stood and pulled the core back toward him. Both twins struggled to gain possession of the power core, eventually causing it to shatter and expose the kyber crystal within. As they continued their struggle for control of the crystal, Am proclaimed it a beacon of hope for the galaxy, to which Karre countered that it would only bring despair.
As the twins intensified their efforts to seize the crystal, first Am, and then Karre, began striking it with Force lightning, causing it to resonate. The kyber crystal ultimately broke in two, sending Am's lighting back at her, destroying her helmet, and then exploding. In the aftermath of the explosion, both twins experienced the vision of Am's death that only Karre had seen previously. Karre shared his vision with Am and explained his motivation for stealing the crystal, stating that he knew Am would not have listened to him had he tried to tell her before. In response, Am laughed, telling Karre she did not fear death and reminded him of the purpose of their birth as the vision ended. Karre then attempted to persuade his sister not to use the kyber crystal's power, but Am ignored his warning and placed the crystal in her armor. Four mechanical arms with long lightwhips sprouted from her armor and her two lightsabers also extended to become lightwhips.

As Am began slicing around him with her lightwhips, Karre ran and took cover. He then placed a fragment of the shattered kyber crystal into his lightsaber just before Am attacked with her six lightwhips, destroying his cover. However, the beams became entangled around Karre's lightsaber and after pulling Am slightly toward him, he swung his blade, cutting the lightwhip's energy beams apart. Am responded by changing her six weapons back to standard lightsabers. Karre then significantly extended the length of his lightsaber and leaped at Am, but she blocked his attack and kicked at him with a lightsaber-like blade in her boot, which Karre dodged. He then attacked her again, but she once again blocked and then forced Karre back until she was able to launch an attack that threw him off the ship's surface and into space.

After being launched by Am, Karre was caught by R-DUO on the outside of their X-wing. After being rescued, he turned to see Am screaming and being constricted by dark energy. He realized that she had released too much power and could no longer control it, overloading her armor. When Karre told R-DUO that he needed to destroy it or she would die, but he did not have enough power to do so, R-DUO suggested using the X-wing's hyperdrive. Karre agreed with the idea, but was not sure if he could do something so reckless. In response, R-DUO suddenly turned the X-wing around and piloted it toward the Star Destroyer. As it approached Am, Karre stood on the outside of the starfighter and ignited his lightsaber, causing several massive beams of various colors to appear and then coalesce into a single larger beam.
As the X-wing flew upside down toward Am, Karre's lightsaber cut through the Star Destroyer, but as it reached Am, she blocked the attack with her own lightsabers. She screamed at Karre that their life's mission would be lost if the crystal was destroyed, but Karre replied that was not true, telling her not to live for someone else. At Karre's command, R-DUO activated the starfighter's hyperdrive, allowing Karre's lightsaber to push past Am's lightsabers. As it did, Karre's blade briefly narrowed, cutting through Am's armor and destroying the crystal, before returning to its full size and slicing one half of the Star Destroyer in two. Karre's X-wing then completed its jump to hyperspace.
After exiting hyperspace, Karre's X-wing crashed on the planet Tatooine. Karre awoke on top of the ship, which was being scavenged by Jawas. He told R-DUO that they would find Am and the purpose of their creation, and reassured R-DUO that she was alive as he watched the twin suns rise.
Karre, a clone of a human male, possessed light skin, blond hair, and grey eyes. Despite being created to govern the galaxy, Karre rejected his predetermined fate due to his affection for his twin sister, embracing the light side of the Force to protect her. He firmly believed in the power of self-determination and creating one's own destiny. Upon arriving on Tatooine, he remained optimistic about his sister's well-being and the future. He shared a close bond with R-DUO, considering him an ideal partner for overcoming significant challenges.
Advanced cloning techniques allowed Karre to endure the vacuum of space without assistance and he was scientifically designed to channel power. He demonstrated proficiency in Force Stasis, telekinesis, and the generation of blue Force lightning, along with the ability to experience visions of the future. While less powerful than Am, he was still capable of defeating her. Although he wielded the dark side, he was not a Sith and was not trained in the Sith traditions.
Karre wore a black prototype dark armor suit, including a cape and helmet, powered by dark energy. Underneath, he wore black clothing with white sleeves, and also wore boots. He wielded a lightsaber which had a blue and red blade, the length of which could be significantly increased. Karre used a T-X-wing starfighter and had a throne room aboard the Gemini-class Star Destroyer.

Karre's initial appearance was in "THE TWINS," a short film penned by Hiromi Wakabayashi, directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi, and featured in the first volume of the non-canon Star Wars: Visions series. This animated short, produced by Studio Trigger, debuted on Disney+ on September 22, 2021. Prior to the short's release, Karre was introduced in a video uploaded to the official Star Wars YouTube channel on July 3, 2021. He was then identified in a StarWars.com article on August 17 of that year. Karre was voiced by Junya Enoki in the original Japanese version of the short and by Neil Patrick Harris in the English dub. The soundtrack for the short, which was composed by Michiru Ōshima and released for streaming on October 15, 2021, included a track titled "Choose Your Own Destiny (Karre's Theme)".
In the manga adaptation of the short, by Keisuke Sato and originally published in Big Gangan Vol.09 on August 25, 2022, Sato included an omake which features Karre and was clarified to be the artist's imagination. In the bonus scene, Karre tells R-DUO that they need a new ship after crashing on Tatooine. They then encounter a Rodian claiming to be a "kind person passing by" who offers to give Karre a lift to the nearest town. Although R-Duo tells Karre he has a bad feeling, Karre thanks the Rodian and places a bag with the credit symbol on their speeder. The Rodian then speeds off with the bag and leaves behind Karre, who chases after them.

Concept art of Karre was designed by SUSHIO and revisions and color references were done by Shigeto Koyama. While designing Karre and Am, Koyama explained he did not consider whether the characters were good or evil and instead visualized the core of the characters. Karre's dark armor is based on Ralph McQuarrie's concept designs for the Sith Lord Darth Vader and his costume after shredding his armor was influenced by smuggler Han Solo, a character loved by Imaishi, as well as the outfits worn by the Jedi Luke Skywalker in the 1977 film A New Hope, and Anakin Skywalker in the 2002 film Attack of the Clones and the 2005 film Revenge of the Sith. The hilt of Karre's lightsaber was influenced by the lightsaber that Luke inherited from Anakin. Karre has a sharp design associated with Studio Trigger and resembles the character Lio from Trigger's 2019 film Promare, which was also directed by Imaishi.
The duel between Karre and Am was inspired by the battle of Gojo Ohashi, a Japanese Heian period legend in which the warrior-monk Saitō Musashibō Benkei met the young Minamoto Yoshitsune on Gojo Ohashi bridge. Although Benkei was more powerful, Yoshitune won their battle. Similarly, Am was more powerful than Karre, but he was still able to defeat her. Imaishi planned the fight in his head, saying that he had a stock of fight scene ideas in his head and picked the ones that were best for Star Wars. He also explained that Karre attacked upside down because it looked visually unique and because by attacking in that way, he would damage the crystal but not hurt Am.
Wakabayashi wanted to do something that was the opposite of A New Hope, explaining that Luke was born to nothing but gained everything, while Karre was born to everything but became no one. Karre and Am are similar to a flipped version of Luke and his twin sister Leia. Twins are a classic Star Wars theme, but the short subverts the motif by following twins aligned with the dark side. Karre's drive to protect those he loves is similar to Luke and Anakin's, but unlike them, he does so from a position of power. His friendship with R-DUO is intended to mirror the friendship between Luke and the droid R2-D2 in A New Hope.
