Biography

Living a Double Life

During the Galactic Empire's reign, Lonni Jung became an officer within the Imperial Security Bureau in 11 BBY. Subsequently, he started collaborating with the rebel spy, Luthen Rael, who was in charge of a clandestine anti-Imperial network. Jung became a member of this network, making a promise, but only kept in contact with Rael. Jung provided Rael with inside information from the ISB, while Rael gave him information that Jung used to advance his professional standing.

Jung ascended through the ranks of the Bureau, achieving the position of ISB Supervisor and the rank of lieutenant by 5 BBY. The Abrion sector and the Bright Jewel sector were among the sectors under his authority. Jung eventually married a woman from a family involved in the import industry. Between 6 and 5 BBY, they had a daughter, making Jung a father. This new responsibility caused him to reconsider his relationship with Rael, whom he had last seen in 6 BBY.

Bureaucratic Discussions

In 5 BBY, Jung was a member of the ISB's Investigations branch, serving on a board of supervisors led by Major Lio Partagaz. The ISB Central Office on Coruscant, the Imperial capital planet, hosted the ISB board meetings. During one such meeting, Partagaz, dissatisfied with Supervisor Lagret's lack of progress on a conflict, addressed everyone, stating that the ISB's mission was to eliminate the "disease" of disorder within the Empire by swiftly identifying it.

Partagaz then reassigned Lagret's incomplete memorandum, causing Lagret to turn to Jung, who was seated to his right, in dismay. The major then asked Jung to elaborate on the requests for additional protection for traffic to the Abrion sector. Jung explained that these requests were a proactive measure due to increased construction shipments destined for Scarif, a planet in the sector where the DS-1 Death Star Mobile Battle Station was secretly under construction.

Developments in Politics

Shortly after, Rael's infiltration team successfully stole approximately 80 million credits from an Imperial sector payroll stored at an installation on the planet Aldhani. Jung, the other members of the ISB board, and numerous ISB Attendants were summoned back to the meeting room. Partagaz informed them that they should advise their staff and families that they would not be returning home and requested that every Star Sector and Planetary Emergency Retaliation plan be ready for presentation by midnight. Subsequently, a meeting of the ISB board was convened by the bureau's director, Colonel Wullf Yularen, where the supervisors were briefed on the new security legislation enacted in response to the Aldhani incident.

In a subsequent ISB board meeting, Jung presented three theories to Partagaz to explain why he had fallen behind his neighboring sectors. After requesting guidance from Partagaz, the latter demanded a complete audit of hyperspace routes leading to the planet Ord Mantell by the same time the next day. As the meeting progressed, Jung observed Supervisor Dedra Meero present her suspicions about an organized rebel effort to acquire Imperial military components, which was actually Rael's network. At the meeting's conclusion, Partagaz reminded Jung about the Ord Mantell report. Jung was present at a following board meeting where Meero presented her thesis concerning a rebel effort specializing in the theft of Imperial equipment to Yularen himself.

Pursuing Rebels

Meero continued her investigations into the alleged rebel network through an incident on the planet Ferrix, identifying a thief named Cassian Andor as a key link to a buyer she believed to be at the center of the network. This buyer, who was actually Rael, was labeled "Axis." Meero elaborated on her efforts against the rebel effort at another ISB board meeting, where Jung noted that Andor was mentioned throughout the document. Meero suggested a connection between Andor and the Aldhani heist, noting that the thief had since returned to Ferrix with money; Lagret questioned whether it was from the sale of a stolen Imperial N-S9 Starpath Unit, but Jung interjected that the Starpath had been left behind on Ferrix during the incident.

Shortly after, Jung arrived from off-site to another meeting with Partagaz, Meero, and Lagret, accompanied by an attendant. The supervisor was informed that a rebel pilot associated with the neo-Separatist Anto Kreegyr had been captured and had revealed a planned raid on the Imperial power station on Spellhaus. After confirming that the pilot had been heading to Kafrene, Jung added that Kreegyr's group would soon realize the pilot was missing. He opposed Lagret's suggestion to destroy the ship, predicting that Kreegyr would become suspicious. Meero then suggested sabotaging the ship and staging an accident, with Jung adding that it would need to be towed to Kafrene. Partagaz approved of Meero's idea and instructed Jung and Lagret to arrange a meeting with Military Intelligence regarding Spellhaus.

The ISB successfully quashed Kreegyr's plans

With the accident arranged, Jung, Meero, and Lagret watched as the sabotaged ship was reported and towed by Kafrene Rescue Salvage. Partagaz soon joined them and was updated by the trio. When the major concluded that they would wait and observe, Jung suggested that the ISB investigate as they normally would, assuming that Kreegyr would be watching. Partagaz agreed with the supervisor's suggestion.

Sacrifices

Jung then sought to contact Rael for the first time in a year, wanting to share information about Meero's investigations and discuss leaving the rebel network. The supervisor left a mark on a fountain and broke off a stair rail as a signal to the rebel spy for a face-to-face meeting. Rael's assistant Kleya Marki noticed the signs and informed Rael, suspecting it was a trap. Rael disagreed and decided to proceed with the meeting.

Jung then made his way into the undercity of Coruscant, meeting with Rael to discuss Anto Kreegyr. When Rael suggested that Kreegyr's men should continue to their deaths to reduce suspicion, Jung expressed discomfort. He then stated his desire to relinquish his position, having become a parent. Rael refused, recounting the sufferings he had endured due to his dedication to the Rebellion. Concluding with the statement that Luthen needed all the heroes he could get, Jung departed.

Personality and traits

Jung wanted out of his agreement with Luthen Rael.

Lonni Jung, a human male, possessed auburn hair, blue eyes, and a fair complexion. As a covert rebel informant, Jung experienced a high level of stress, which intensified after the birth of his first child. Despite maintaining a calm demeanor as a supervisor, he was plagued by feelings of loneliness and anxiety. Unprepared for the emotions evoked by his daughter, he reassessed the risk of his position, deeming it too great for the safety of himself and his family. Nevertheless, Jung remained a devoted member of the Rebellion and sought to protect others targeted by the ISB.

Jung wore a standard white Imperial officer's uniform, complete with two code cylinders and a rank insignia plaque displaying three blue squares.
