Ramy

Ramy, a Trandoshan who practiced big game hunting, belonged to a hunting lodge of Trandoshans under the leadership of the hunter Garnac. During 20 BBY of the year, the lodge received new sentient prey to be hunted on their reserve located on the moon of Wasskah. Ahsoka Tano, a Jedi Padawan among the prisoners, demonstrated unexpected resilience. She eventually inspired other survivors of the lodge's hunts to rebel against the Trandoshan hunters. As a result, Tano's group forced the lodge's freighter to crash; Ramy and the other hunters subsequently investigated this crash.

Subsequently, Ramy participated in the defense against an attack on the lodge's floating fortress, where he was briefly rendered unconscious. Despite this, the hunters briefly managed to repel the attackers until Wookiee reinforcements arrived to support Tano's group of survivors. Afterward, a general of the Wookiees threw Ramy overboard. Nevertheless, Ramy survived the fall and eventually found himself on the planet of Nal Hutta.

Biography

Game hunter

Ramy and his comrades relax before a hunt.

Ramy, a big game hunter of the Trandoshan male variety, was a member of a hunting guild exclusively composed of Trandoshan hunters. This hunting lodge, under the leadership of Garnac, utilized an island on the Mid Rim moon Wasskah, orbiting the planet Trandosha, as a game reserve. Their base of operations was a Ubrikkian Floating Fortress suspended above Wasskah's jungles. While the lodge hunted various creatures, they also kidnapped sentient beings from across the galaxy to serve as additional prey.

In 20 BBY of the year, the hunt for potential prisoners brought the Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano to Wasskah. Although the lodge had previously captured several Jedi younglings, considering them valuable targets, Tano quickly proved more resilient than previous captives.

Troublesome Jedi

The day following Tano's arrival, Ramy was present in Garnac's fortress when the guild leader authorized the next hunt. Ramy and the other Trandoshans armed themselves before heading to Wasskah's surface on Pteropter hover pods, with Ramy riding in a pod piloted by Gilas. After a day of hunting, Ramy returned to the fortress for the initiation ceremony of Garnac's son, Dar.

Tano survived the hunting attempts, including a confrontation with Dar resulting in his death. This led her to rally other survivors to fight back against the Trandoshans. With the help of previously captured younglings O-Mer and Jinx, Tano managed to crash the guild's prey-capturing freighter on the hunting island's beach, killing two Trandoshan pilots.

The following day, Ramy and the other hunters investigated the crash. While the crew's bodies were recovered, Ramy circled the crash site in a hover pod before returning to the fortress. The next day, pilot Krix departed in a hover pod to meet with Smug, who had gone to hunt near the freighter wreck the previous night. However, according to the hunter Lagon, Krix's trip was taking longer than anticipated.

Lagon shared his concerns with Ramy, but before Ramy could respond, Krix's speeder returned without Krix or Smug. Instead, it had been hijacked by Tano's group, which now included the Wookiee Chewbacca. Lagon was grabbed and thrown overboard while Ramy shouted for reinforcements.

Ramy was quickly joined by Gilas and Ratter, and together they attempted to repel the attack. During the skirmish, Ramy ran for a nearby hover pod. However, Tano and Jinx used the Force to throw Ramy and the hover pod across the floating fortress's deck, briefly knocking Ramy unconscious.

Hunt's end

Upon regaining consciousness, Ramy found that Garnac had shot down the stolen hover pod, halting the Jedi offensive. Ramy grabbed a dropped blaster pistol and aimed it at the defeated survivors. Before Garnac could order their execution, Wookiee reinforcements arrived, having been contacted by Chewbacca earlier.

Ramy was thrown overboard by General Tarfful.

The Wookiees, led by General Tarfful, quickly turned the tide of battle. Tarfful grabbed Ramy and threw him from the fortress to the ground below. The remaining Trandoshans were quickly killed, effectively ending the hunting lodge's existence as an organized entity.

Ramy survived the fall. Along with Krix and Smug, who had survived the hijacking of their hover pod, Ramy eventually relocated to the planet Nal Hutta, blending in with the populace of the Bilbousa Bazaar. While at a local saloon, Ramy confronted a member of the Bith species, grabbing them by the neck and violently throttling them.

Personality and traits

Like the other Trandoshan guild members, Ramy was excited by the prospect of hunting prey on Wasskah. As Ramy descended to Wasskah's surface in a hover pod, he cheered and hooted while firing his blaster into the air. During Dar's initiation, Ramy chanted the young lizard's name and celebrated his induction. When Tano's survivors attacked the lodge, Ramy quickly howled for backup.

Ramy had yellow scales with brown mottling on his face and arms. His eyes were also yellow.

Equipment

Ramy and his comrades hold blasters on the defeated Jedi.

Ramy used various blaster types on Wasskah, including a blaster pistol, a sniper rifle, and a blaster rifle. He used these weapons in various combat scenarios, including hunting and defending the fortress. During the initial attack on the fortress, Ramy was caught off guard and left weaponless, attempting to command a hover pod. Later, he acquired Gilas' dropped blaster pistol and used it against the Wookiees, but he was thrown off the fortress before hitting any targets.

Ramy's clothes and equipment during the Wasskah skirmish and on Nal Hutta included a gray shirt under a brown vest, dark pants, a belt with a holster, a bandolier, and an electronically powered gauntlet on his left wrist.

Behind the scenes

Conceptual artwork of Ramy for "Padawan Lost"

Ramy was one of twelve Trandoshan characters created for "Padawan Lost" and "Wookiee Hunt," episodes twenty-one and twenty-two of Season Three of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which aired on April 1, 2011. Ramy later made a cameo in the Season Four episode "Friends and Enemies," which aired on January 27, 2012.

Concept artist Pat Presley designed Ramy and named him after Bantha Tracks contributor Mary Franklin, a fan of Trandoshans and Bossk. Ramy's name is an anagram of Franklin's first name. Ramy, along with Gilas, are the only two Trandoshans in the episodes without unique lines of dialogue outside of a group chant. Ramy was identified by name in the "Padawan Lost" episode guide, rather than in the episodes themselves.
