Denal, a clone trooper, fought for the Galactic Republic as a soldier within the ranks of the 501st Legion during the Clone Wars. Throughout the conflict, Denal was under the command of Jedi General Anakin Skywalker and Clone Captain Rex, participating in battles such as the Battle of Mimban and the mission to Skytop Station. Tragically, during the Battle of Devaron, he met his end at the hands of the bounty hunter Cad Bane.
Denal's service in the 501st Legion began in the initial months of the Clone Wars, where he fought under the leadership of Jedi General Anakin Skywalker and Clone Captain Rex. Alongside fellow clones Hardcase and Jesse, he participated in the Battle of Mimban.

When R2-D2, Skywalker's astromech droid, was captured by the scavenger Gha Nachkt and was scheduled to be handed over to General Grievous at Skytop Station, Denal was chosen to be part of the rescue squad on a mission to liberate the R2 unit and destroy the Separatist spy station. The team traveled to the station aboard the G9 Rigger-class light freighter Twilight. Denal and the others put on jetpacks and leaped from the vessel onto the exterior of the station. After they landed, Denal and his fellow troopers poked fun at their Captain, Rex, who was struggling to maintain his balance with their replacement astromech, R3-S6, attached to his front.
During the mission, he, Commander Tano, and the rest of the team were assigned the task of planting detonators while Skywalker was busy rescuing R2. However, their progress was greatly hindered by R3, who was secretly working as a Separatist double agent. At one point, R3 shut several blast doors on the group and also dispatched a squad of B1 battle droids and super battle droids to their location. Surrounded, the group was pinned down until they deployed several EMP grenades to defeat the droids. Soon after, Grievous attacked the group. After Grievous overwhelmed Tano, he attacked the clones, killing three of them and knocking Denal and Rex to the ground. Tano later rescued Rex from execution and led Grievous away. Denal awoke to find himself one of the few survivors of the attack. Rex contacted Ahsoka, who was hiding from Grievous, and she instructed the two clones to complete the mission and meet at the landing bay as planned. Denal took the backpack of charges and followed Rex.
After planting the bombs, Denal and Rex reunited with Skywalker and R2 in the station's landing bay. When Rex informed Skywalker that Tano was fighting Grievous, Skywalker became distressed. Rex offered to guide him to their last known location, but as he, Skywalker, Denal, and the clone trooper who had landed the Twilight began to move, they were trapped by R3-S6, who revealed himself as a Separatist spy. They were then attacked by super battle droids and vulture droids. After triggering the explosions, Denal and the remaining survivors managed to board the Twilight before the station was destroyed.

Denal, along with Skywalker, Tano, and Rex, was dispatched to Devaron to stop the bounty hunter Cad Bane from acquiring the kyber memory crystal from Master Bolla Ropal on Devaron. He and the others then boarded Bane's command ship. Denal was included in the group that stormed the bridge and gained control of the vessel. Subsequently, Skywalker instructed Rex to secure the escape pods to prevent any escapes, and Denal was part of the team assigned to carry out these orders. However, when one of the ship's engines exploded, Skywalker altered the plan and instead directed their forces to find Master Ropal. In the hangar, they encountered Bane and his battle droids. After battling the battle droids to secure a Sheathipede-class transport shuttle, Denal and another trooper, Koho, were sent by Rex to locate Skywalker and Tano. They discovered Bane and confronted him, posing a threat. However, Bane overpowered them, killing both Koho and Denal.
Bane exchanged his armor with Denal and staged his own death. Initially, the clone troopers were impressed by Denal's apparent elimination of Bane. However, Bane's disguise was exposed by a clone who noticed the Duros' green blood, and Tano, who realized that "Denal" was actually Bane after trailing him from the shuttle. Bane then escaped in a V-19 Torrent starfighter and jumped into hyperspace.

Denal wore standard Phase I clone trooper armor that featured distinctive blue markings on his helmet, consistent with the 501st Legion. He used a DC-15A blaster carbine, which sometimes had an ascension cable attachment. He also sometimes used a red visor attached to his helmet.
Denal's debut was in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars episode "Duel of the Droids." Like all clones, his voice was provided by Dee Bradley Baker. Although not identified by name in the story itself, a clone wearing Denal's armor also made an appearance in the comic short "501 Plus One," a story featured within Age of Republic Special 1. Lucasfilm Story Group member Matt Martin later verified on Twitter that the clone in the comic was indeed Denal.
