Rinnrivin Di's criminal organization, also known as Rinnrivin Di's syndicate, was a Nikto crime ring established and operated by the Kajain'sa'Nikto individual known as Rinnrivin Di during the period of the New Republic Era. This syndicate gained prominence following the demise of Jabba the Hutt in the decades subsequent to the Galactic Civil War, and it played a crucial role in the conspiracy orchestrated by the Centrists to facilitate the emergence of the First Order. The base of operations for Rinnrivin Di's organization was situated on the planet of Bastatha, and, in addition to the monetary assistance it received from the Centrists, it targeted the commercial trade routes surrounding Ryloth to generate income. By the year 28 ABY, Emissary Yendor from Ryloth requested assistance from the Galactic Senate, prompting senators Leia Organa and Ransolm Casterfo to commit to investigating the syndicate's activities. Organa soon exposed the conspiracy when she tracked Di to Sibensko, where the crime boss was killed.
The criminal enterprise led by Rinnrivin Di engaged in various illicit activities, notably smuggling spice, engaging in gambling, and conducting acts of piracy. The cartel maintained a cooperative relationship with a paramilitary force known as the Amaxine warriors, who served as both their financial backers and associates. The Amaxine warriors functioned as their pilots and were involved in attacks on legitimate commercial vessels. Furthermore, Rinnrivin's syndicate extracted protection payments from merchants. The proceeds generated from the syndicate's gambling and smuggling operations were diverted to Centrist elements and clandestine corporations situated in the Outer Rim Territories, who then channeled these funds to the First Order's fleet. Rinnrivin's organization maintained operational bases on both Bastatha and Sibensko.
The Kajain'sa'Nikto individual known as Rinnrivin Di began his career as a minor spice dealer working for the Hutts during the Age of the Empire. As a consequence of the pervasive xenophobia that characterized the Galactic Empire, Rinnrivin resorted to criminal activities in order to advance his career. In the year 21 ABY, Rinnrivin Di ascended to the leadership of one of the galaxy's most extensive criminal organizations after receiving billions of credits from the Amaxine warriors, a paramilitary group that acted as representatives for the First Order, a remnant of the "Old Empire" that had retreated to the Unknown Regions.
The criminal syndicate controlled by Rinnrivin Di fostered a reciprocal association with the Amaxine warriors, who functioned as both their benefactors and collaborators. Rinnrivin's organization was implicated in a range of illegal activities, including smuggling, the trafficking of spice, gambling operations, and the raiding of legitimate commercial traffic within the Gaulus sector; which contained the planet Ryloth. The Amaxine warriors served as pilots for Rinnrivin's syndicate, operating from their bases located on the planets Daxam IV and Sibensko. The revenue generated through the smuggling and gambling ventures of Rinnrivin's organization was redirected to the First Order through the agency of the Amaxine warriors. The First Order utilized these financial resources to reconstruct the former Imperial fleet.
By the year 28 ABY, Rinnrivin Di's organization had inflicted significant damage on the off-world commerce of the Twi'lek homeworld of Ryloth. Exploiting the hesitation and inaction exhibited by the New Republic's Galactic Senate, Rinnrivin's syndicate conducted raids on legitimate commercial shipping within the Gaulus sector, thereby undermining Ryloth's economic stability. Numerous Twi'lek pilots were attacked by Rinnrivin's Amaxine associates, while other merchants were compelled to provide protection payments. Rinnrivin Di's syndicate operated from the Outer Rim world of Bastatha, a desolate desert planet that had evolved into a well-known casino destination.
Acting on behalf of the Senate, the Populist Senator Leia Organa and her Centrist counterpart Ransolm Casterfo visited Bastatha to conduct an investigation into the planet's casino operations. While there, Rinnrivin abducted Leia and transported her to his secret underground headquarters, where he attempted to bribe her into decriminalizing the spice trade. Shortly thereafter, Leia was rescued by Casterfo, and the Bastatha authorities assumed control of Rinnrivn's base. However, Rinnrivin and the majority of his subordinates managed to escape off-world. Despite his escape, Leia and Casterfo discovered that Bastatha's gambling revenue was being diverted to shadowy corporations located in the Outer Rim.
Subsequently, Leia's starfighter pilots, Joph Seastriker and Greer Sonnel, acquired information regarding the Amaxine warriors' existence during a visit to Pamarthe. They learned that the Amaxines had informants who provided them with details concerning passing cargo ships. The Amaxine warriors were under the leadership of Arliz Hadrassian, a former TIE fighter pilot who held the "Old Empire" in high regard. In an effort to instigate chaos within the New Republic, Hadrassian bombed the Galactic Senate's conference building on Hosnian Prime. However, this action only strengthened Leia and Ransolm's determination to investigate Rinnrivin Di's organization and their Amaxine partners.
While Ransolm journeyed to Daxam IV to investigate the Amaxine presence there, Leia and her staff, including C-3PO and Korr Sella, visited the Ryloth archives. There, they uncovered information pertaining to Rinnrivin's humble beginnings as a low-level spice dealer and his subsequent rise to become the leader of one of the galaxy's most formidable criminal syndicates. Leia and her team suspected that Rinnrivin was connected to the Centrists. Following consultations with Casterfo, Joph, and C-3PO, they managed to tap into one of Rinnrivin's satellites positioned above Ryloth and discovered that the crime lord was concealing himself on the Expansion Region world of Sibensko. While monitoring Rinnrivin's transmissions, Leia and her team discovered that Rinnrivin was visiting the planet Harloff Minor, which lay near Coruscant.
Leia then arranged a clandestine meeting with Rinnrivin Di on Harloff Minor. The two convened at a private restaurant situated in one of Harloff's equatorial cities. During the meeting, Rinnrivin was careful to denounce the "Napkin Bombing" as an act of terrorist while Leia reassured him that she had not anticipated Ransolm's intervention in her rescue. Rinnrivin sought to ingratiate himself with the New Republic senator and referred to her as "Huttslayer," an honorary title she had earned for single-handedly killing Jabba Desilijic Tiure. Leia also availed herself of the opportunity to return the holocube depicting her killing Jabba, asserting that she did not require reminders of the past. Unbeknownst to Rinnrivin, she had equipped the device with a tracking device. During the meeting, Rinnrivin also alluded to the fact that he had "powerful friends."
Subsequently, Leia and her team traveled to Sibensko to investigate the Amaxine base located there. While downloading banking records from the underwater city's cantina, Leia and her companions were confronted by Rinnrivin and his henchmen. By this point, Rinnrivin had realized that Leia had affixed a tracking device to his holocube. When Rinnrivin remarked that he had hoped they could be friends, Leia retorted that she would not be his "tool." Given Rinnrivin's collaboration with the Amaxines, he attempted to prevent the Senator and her companions from leaving Sibensko alive. However, Leia fired at the bolt securing a large water tunnel. Rinnrivin and his henchmen were crushed to death by the collapsing tunnel.
Leia and her team successfully escaped the Sibensko base with the assistance of her husband Han Solo. However, the Amaxine base and the underwater city were destroyed when an Amaxine B-wing collided with the base's weapon depot, triggering a massive explosion. Despite the destruction, C-3PO managed to download invaluable data revealing that the Amaxine warriors, including Arliz Hadrassian, had channeled billions of credits in start-up capital to Rinnrivin seven years prior, enabling him to become a major power. However, C-3PO was unable to access additional layers of data that indicated that the First Order had been sponsoring both the Amaxine Warriors and Rinnrivin's cartel.
Following Leia's Mission to Sibensko, many within the New Republic Senate and media believed that the Amaxines had been the primary instigators and financiers behind Rinnrivin's organization. Despite Rinnrivin's death, he contributed to the rise of the First Order by generating revenue for their military fleet through his smuggling and gambling operations. With the defeat of Rinnrivin's organization and the Amaxine Warriors, many within the Galactic Senate believed that there were no longer any serious threats to the Republic's security. However, Leia disagreed and established the Resistance to safeguard the New Republic from various threats, including the First Order.
