Turgle, a male of a frog-like species, hailed from the planet of Koboh. During the Imperial Era, he frequently stumbled into predicaments involving the Bedlam Raiders or other local troubles. A significant portion of his time was spent within the walls of Pyloon's Saloon, where he entertained the patrons with his narratives.
Turgle fancied himself a daring and intrepid outlaw, often sharing accounts of his exploits with anyone willing to lend an ear—though many of these tales were exaggerated for added flair. He genuinely thought that, at one point in time, he was the most notorious outlaw in the Outer Rim. If you were to ask him, he would tell you that he was also known by such titles as the Prince of Pilfering, the Mayor of Misdemeanors, and the Sultan of Stealth, among other grandiose names. He enjoyed daydreaming about the life that awaited him once he had acquired substantial fame and fortune, picturing himself owning numerous opulent residences throughout the galaxy, inspired by stories he had heard about the lakes of Naboo and the thousand moons of Iego.
Before 9 BBY, he wound up on Koboh by clandestinely stowing away inside a shipping crate, where he remained hidden for an extended period. He would tell anyone at Pyloon’s Saloon that he was on the run due to his attempt to execute the "heist of the century," which had supposedly put every bounty hunter in the galaxy on his trail. Eventually, he was discovered and taken in by Doma Dendra, who initially mistook him for trash and discarded him.
He passed most of his time on Koboh in Pyloon's Saloon. After Greez Dritus acquired the cantina, Turgle "assisted" the bartender droid M-6NK with the initial upkeep of the establishment, primarily by staying out of the way. He felt that Dritus was doing a much better job of running the saloon than its previous owners. However, his time in Pyloon’s led him to drinking which he believed bought him nothing but misery. One evening, after indulging in too many beverages, Turgle mistook one of the larger members of the Bedlam Raiders for a dewback and attempted to ride him, inadvertently involving himself with the gang.
During his time on Koboh, Turgle managed to antagonize numerous individuals and groups. He was in debt to a Zabrak gang for a considerable sum of credits due to some unknown incident, and he had to fight the urge to flee and start anew to avoid the consequences.
In 9 BBY, Turgle knowingly misled an Imperial officer by claiming to know the location of a secret priorite deposit on Koboh, despite having no such knowledge. Nevertheless, the officer compensated him for the information, and they set out to find the deposit. After hours of trekking across the plains, Turgle noticed something shimmering in the distance. Assuming it was the priorite deposit, the officer rushed ahead, only to discover that it was a rancor reflecting the Koboh sun. Once the rancor had departed, Turgle pilfered the five credits from the officer's corpse and made his exit.
Later, he tried to sell worthless scrap to a stormtrooper, but when his deception was uncovered, he struck the trooper with the scrap and was promptly arrested. While incarcerated, he discovered a shiny rock that he was certain the same stormtrooper would be interested in purchasing.
Despite his desire to be agreeable, he frequently found himself at odds with the Gen’Dai Rayvis and the Bedlam Raiders. On one occasion, he was pursued into a cave by the Raiders, where he was compelled to make a regrettable dark deal. The Raiders ultimately decided to kill him after he traded them a High Republic tuner device that turned out to be a counterfeit. When the Raiders confronted Turgle at the Saloon, he was rescued by Jedi Knight Cal Kestis, who had just arrived on Koboh to meet with Greez Dritus. Feeling deeply grateful to the Jedi for saving his life, Turgle shared a rumor with Kestis about the location where he had found the tuner tech, but he also requested to borrow it for exploration purposes—a request that Kestis denied.
Turgle was deeply impressed by the Jedi's abilities and accomplishments, even attempting to compare himself to Kestis. He believed that a shell he had found in Swindler's Wash was comparable to Kestis taking out the Raiders. He stated that the symmetry, the hand feel, and the way it stayed cool in the Koboh heat calmed him. Kestis sarcastically, but kindly, warned him not to tell anyone else of his discovery so as not to make them jealous.
Following the Stinger Mantis crew's return to Koboh from Jedha in search of the intact Abyss compass, Turgle encountered them at the ship's landing pad and frantically informed Kestis that ZN-A4 had been "droidnapped". Upon hearing this, Dritus accused him of playing a part in the event. He pleaded his innocence and was enthused when it was confirmed that Kestis and Bode Akuna would be rescuing her together.
Despite the challenges facing the planet, Turgle had no intention of leaving. He believed that because he had been pushed around his whole life, no one ever took him seriously and he would use that to his advantage so that when the Empire let its guard down, he would strike. He proclaimed himself a proud Koboh local and his intention was to defend the planet against the Empire.
Turgle possessed an enthusiastic nature, though he was notorious for attracting trouble. Despite his optimistic attitude and seemingly innocent demeanor, many residents of Koboh—including Dritus—held a degree of mistrust towards him. Doma Dendra exhibited the most patience with him, and of all her many tasks, the most difficult was keeping Turgle alive. She believed his best trait was his ability to constantly hurt himself. Her first encounter with him was one of rescue—like Cal—saving him from a self-inflicted blunder. He was attached to her from that point on.
Turgle also had a penchant for sharing his stories, although the veracity of his tales was often questionable. He once told Toa that he had named a road in Rambler's Reach Outpost after his foot. During a conversation with Zygg Soza in Pyloon’s, he referred to himself as a lover on the prowl.
Although he portrayed himself as an outlaw, Turgle was aware that he lacked the qualities necessary to be a fearless warrior. Instead, he believed that his primary strength and advantage stemmed from the fact that people underestimated him.
Despite not being native to Koboh, Turgle developed a fondness for the planet and its various locations. He was the first to inform Kestis of the rooftop garden at Pyloon's and intended to write a guide to the planet full of tips for Koboh visitors.
He also intended to exploit the planet's natural resources and indigenous species to his advantage in order to amass his fortune. Some of his potential business ventures included a rancor petting zoo, bottling Koboh matter to sell as a miracle cure, a nekko cheese venture, a collapsed mine escape room, and a roller mine roller derby. Talking to Moran, he stated he also had plans for a Koboh mud spa, a derelict ship ghost tour, and a cantina for Raiders. He was initially excited when the Mirialan told him to go to the Raider base and tell them of his plan before he was instructed to do the exact opposite.
Though he rarely let his status as an outcast slow him down, when he first arrived on Koboh he had a moment of reflection where he pondered his lifestyle of scamming and isolation. After he nearly died whilst out on an escapade, it made him think about his life. He told Moran that he did not want to die washed up and lonely on the edge of the galaxy, though Moran would not buy him a drink to celebrate his epiphany despite believing Turgle was a frog reborn. He carried a DL-44 heavy blaster pistol in a holster on his hip
Turgle made his debut in the 2023 video game titled Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which was developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts. The character's voice was provided by Richard Horvitz. Turgle was the favorite character of the production team.
