Fabarian's story revolves around his role as a human Agent within the Galactic Empire's Imperial Security Bureau. Serving as the primary investigator for sector 35 of the planet Coruscant, he was a firm believer in his profession and held a strong aversion to the rampant corruption within the Empire, prioritizing the establishment of order. The events took a dramatic turn when Darth Vader, the Sith Lord, unleashed the Scourge intelligence across Coruscant. In response, Fabarian dedicated himself to safeguarding the inhabitants of sector 35 from the onslaught of infected droids. This defense continued until Emperor Palpatine issued the order for the sector's obliteration, resulting in the death of countless individuals. In defiance of these orders, Fabarian initiated an investigation into the incident, leading to his subsequent indictment and transfer to the ISB Office of Internal Review. It was here that Sub-Administrator Sly Moore recruited him into the Schism Imperial, a clandestine group aiming to restore order within the Empire by deposing the Emperor. Accepting a demotion to the position of Assistant Data Processor, Fabarian awaited further instructions from the Schism. Eventually, the Schism Imperial found itself working under the command of Vader, a situation that Fabarian found distasteful due to his aversion to serving the Sith Lord.
Fabarian leveraged his position to investigate Baron Slandarv, whom the Schism suspected of developing a new battle droid. After securing data that confirmed these suspicions, he joined forces with the Schism, including Vader, to seize the battle droids for the Sith Lord at Slandarv's factory on Slandarvia M-9. Slandarv intended to destroy the facility, disregarding the resulting civilian casualties, but Fabarian intervened, fatally shooting him. However, he later regretted this action, attributing it to the influence of his service under Vader. On the planet Tython, Fabarian played a role in acquiring kyberite and came into conflict with Senior Lieutenant Enric Pryde, a member of the Schism who was loyal to Vader. Subsequently, Fabarian accompanied the Schism members aboard a kyberite-plated Lambda-class shuttle to Exegol, where Vader initiated an assault against the Sith Eternal forces of the Emperor.
During the reign of the Galactic Empire, Fabarian, a human, held the rank of Agent within the Imperial Security Bureau. His area of operation was sector 35, located on the Core Worlds planet Coruscant. Baron Slandarv considered Fabarian to be the most notable ISB investigator in sector 35. Sometime between 3 ABY and 4 ABY, Fabarian found himself in sector 35 when Darth Vader, the Sith Lord, unleashed disk droids carrying the [Scourge](/article/scourge] intelligence on Coruscant, a test for his master, Emperor Palpatine. As the Scourge spread, infecting more droids and causing a massacre among the population, Fabarian worked to stem the tide, protecting the people of sector 35, including children, as they sought safety.

The ISB investigator requested reinforcements, only to be informed about the imminent execution of protocol 23—ordered by Grand Vizier Mas Amedda under the Emperor's authority—and instructed to evacuate. Before Fabarian could voice his objection, sectors 35 and 36 were destroyed to contain the Scourge, throwing the investigator to the ground amidst the explosion. Overwhelmed by the destruction and the sight of dead civilians, Fabarian cried out for help, only to see Vader in the distance atop the Imperial Palace.
Despite being reassigned to a new post on Skako Minor, Fabarian launched his own investigation into the destruction of the two sectors. He discovered that official reports omitted Vader's presence at the scene and learned that Amedda had ordered protocol 23 under the Emperor's direction. Though he knew Vader wasn't directly responsible for the order, Fabarian heard that the Sith had been infected by the entity controlling the droids. As a result of his actions, the Imperial officer was charged and brought to the ISB Office of Internal Review in stuncuffs for sentencing.
Fabarian, along with fellow charged Imperials—Admiral Corleque, Governor Tauntaza, and Council Member Xanto—were escorted by an RA-7 protocol droid to Sub-Administrator Sly Moore. Moore reviewed their charges, and Fabarian voiced his belief in Vader's involvement. He then protested that Moore was ignoring the corruption within the Empire, prompting her to ask if he felt unjustly treated and wished to appeal to the Emperor. Xanto accepted the offer of a personal meeting, while Moore detected a lack of faith in Fabarian and the others, a belief that no appeal or justice could be found in the Empire.

Instead, Moore executed Xanto and addressed Fabarian and the others, stating that they understood the Emperor's true nature and saw the Empire for what it was. Releasing their cuffs, Moore welcomed Fabarian, Corleque, and Tauntaza to the Schism Imperial, a group of Imperials dissatisfied with the Emperor who sought to overthrow him and restore order. Following Moore's instructions, Fabarian accepted his penalty and demotion to Assistant Data Processor, waiting for the Schism Imperial to call upon him. In his new role, Fabarian processed fines and other records under the supervision of an supervisor. Eventually, Vader himself joined the Schism Imperial, and its members were made to serve the Sith Lord.
One month after joining the Schism, Fabarian was instructed by his supervisor to delete a traffic fine for Baron Slandarv's speeder. Fabarian hesitated, but his supervisor insisted to avoid the repercussions of fining a baron. However, Slandarv was of interest to Administrator Moore, Vader, and the Schism, who suspected he was developing a new and advanced model of battle droid. Therefore, Fabarian deleted four tickets for Slandarv but left one approved, which, as planned, annoyed the baron. Later that day, Fabarian visited the under-repair sector 35 and a memorial. He was then contacted by his supervisor, who informed him that Slandarv had summoned him to his private offices.

At Slandarv's office, Fabarian carried a comlink fitted with an autoslicer by Moore to discreetly copy the baron's data. Slandarv greeted Fabarian, revealing his knowledge of Fabarian's history and demotion for interfering in the affairs of the Emperor and Vader. Fabarian tried to explain, but the baron reprimanded him, dismissing him as insignificant. Slandarv ordered Fabarian's discharge from Imperial service, and two RA-7 protocol droids removed his uniform's insignia and demanded his tablet and comlink. Fabarian argued that he had paid for the comlink, and Slandarv mockingly allowed him to keep it before having him thrown out. Outside, Fabarian's supervisor scolded him and told him his time in the sector was over, suggesting he leave the planet.
Fabarian left Coruscant on a Lambda-class T-4a shuttle to meet a starship carrying Moore and Vader. Sensing Fabarian's distress, Moore ordered him to be honest with Vader. Fabarian explained his experience during the destruction of sector 35, stating that while he didn't blame Vader, he was concerned that the Sith had been infected by the Scourge. However, Vader declared that he had only been testing the entity and was not under its control. Fabarian then recognized the M.A.R. Corps, a group of rebel cyborgs captured and controlled by Vader, and greeted Tauntaza, who questioned how he would increase Vader's power. Despite his confusion over serving both the Schism and Vader, Fabarian insisted he had been useful, revealing the data copied from Slandarv's office by the comlink's autoslicer.
As the Schism forces arrived on Slandarvia M-9, a Mid Rim astronomical object where Slandarv's factory was located, Fabarian explained that the baron had secretly been working on the advanced battle droid model to maximize bargaining power. Since the factory was surrounded by worker housing with hundreds of civilians, Fabarian recommended a blockade and parley, believing Slandarv would negotiate. However, Vader refused, instead launching an attack to breach the factory with the M.A.R. Corps. Entering with the droid ZED-6-7, Fabarian led the way to a shocked Slandarv. Fabarian aimed a blaster at Slandarv as ZED-6-7 requested authorization to reprogram his droids. The baron refused until he learned they were working under Vader. As ZED-6-7 reprogrammed the droids to serve Vader instead of the Emperor, Slandarv, loyal to the latter, refused to participate. ZED-6-7 declared the baron uninvited, and Slandarv fled while his guards tried to hold off Fabarian.

Fabarian pursued Slandarv through the facility, ordering him to surrender. However, Slandarv revealed he could destroy the entire factory, killing everyone but them. Slandarv claimed Vader couldn't defeat the Emperor, and nothing would be gained. Fabarian questioned whether the civilian housing would also be destroyed. When the baron said the civilians were a necessary sacrifice, Fabarian shot him in the chest. Injured, Slandarv criticized Fabarian for trying to maintain a conscience, but Fabarian told him he should have paid his ticket before shooting him again, killing him. Moore entered, commenting on Fabarian's motive, but she and Vader—both Force-sensitive—were disoriented by a Force Wave. After the Schism forces left, Moore awoke, stating she had felt the fear and anger of the M.A.R. Corps' trapped consciousnesses while unconscious. Fabarian entered with Tauntaza, blaming Moore for involving the Schism with Vader.
Fabarian subsequently journeyed with Corleque, Tauntaza, and Senior Lieutenant Enric Pryde aboard a Lambda-class shuttle to Tython in the Deep Core, intending to meet Vader at the Meridional Ice Cap. However, a storm caused their shuttle to crash, forcing them to walk to their destination. When Vader flew overhead in his TIE Advanced, unaffected by the storm, Fabarian expressed his dislike for Pryde's admiration of the Sith Lord. Pryde asserted his loyalty, leading Fabarian and the others to note their hatred for the one they now served. Fabarian explained his past as an ISB officer, noting that his recent actions, including the raid on the droid factory and his murder of Slandarv—influenced by his service to Vader—were not the order the Schism desired.
Soon after, Fabarian and the others met Vader, Moore, and ZED-6-7 outside the Martyrium of Frozen Tears, an ancient Jedi temple containing a confessional made of solid kyberite, which Vader intended for the group to mine. After Pryde became fearful when Vader ordered him to lead the group into the Martyrium, Fabarian mocked him. As the Rebel Alliance had previously used the site as a base, Pryde scouted the area and destroyed a trap. However, a droid activated the Martyrium, giving Moore and Vader a vision of the confessions of ancient Jedi. Fabarian was saddened when Moore described a confession from a Jedi whose students perished in a fire and was haunted by their faces. Vader, after witnessing a confession from his son, Luke Skywalker, ordered the Schism forces to acquire as much kyberite as possible before destroying the site.
After fulfilling Vader's demands, the Imperials were ordered to shield a shuttle with kyberite and meet the Sith Lord at the edge of the Red Honeycomb Zone—a passage through space leading to Exegol, an ancient Sith world in the Unknown Regions where the Sith Eternal cult and the Emperor's forces resided. Although Vader didn't initially reveal his plans, he intended to launch an assault on Exegol to loot the world and challenge the Emperor's power. Once Vader departed Tython in his TIE Advanced, Fabarian confronted Pryde about whether he expected recognition for his service, while Tauntaza suggested Pryde flee the conspiracy. However, Pryde reaffirmed his choice and loyalty to Vader.
While Corleque met Sith Eternal cultists outside the Red Honeycomb Zone with a shipment of supplies and kyberite for Exegol that secretly held battle droids and Vader, the Schism forces shielded a Lambda shuttle with kyberite plating. Fabarian accompanied his fellow Schism members aboard the shuttle, carrying a droid decoy of Vader. The shuttle traversed the Red Honeycomb Zone, with the plating partially protecting them from the psychic effects of the summa-verminoth subspecies within the area. After landing outside the Sith Citadel on Exegol, the Sith Eternal cultists quickly defeated Vader's decoy, but the Sith Lord himself emerged, claiming a large kyber crystal from the Kyber Temple. The cultists summoned multiple summa-verminoth to assist them.
As Vader and Pryde returned to the shuttle with the kyber, Fabarian approached with Tauntaza and ZED-6-7, wanting to load the crystal before the remaining cultists attacked. Aboard the shuttle, Tauntaza worried about the summa-verminoth, but Fabarian assured her they were protected and only needed to outrun the creatures. Although Fabarian doubted they could take on the summa-verminoth, Moore refused to run, citing the Schism Imperial's recent accomplishments that had empowered Vader. As Fabarian and the others watched, Vader used portions of the kyber to strengthen his shield and electrostaff. Pryde piloted the Lambda shuttle toward the summa-verminoth, crying out from their effect. Fabarian questioned his well-being, but Pryde remained determined. Vader, standing atop the shuttle, used his empowered weaponry to defeat the summa-verminoth.

Fabarian, as an officer in the Galactic Empire, aimed to maintain order and protect his sector's people but struggled with complex moral issues. He believed in his career with the ISB, feeling that without enforced rules, people would commit terrible acts. While he knew it was difficult to maintain a clear conscience, he was outraged by the Empire's corruption and chaos, knowing that justice and order were not available to most due to the regime's nature. Like other Schism Imperial members, Fabarian had little faith in the Emperor and believed order could be restored if he was overthrown. Fabarian felt compelled to determine who was responsible for the destruction of sector 35 and the deaths of many, including children. He defied orders and investigated independently, even when it led to his demotion.
Fabarian hated Darth Vader, considering the Sith Lord and his actions evil. He was disturbed by serving the Sith Lord and questioned whether Vader's approach would restore order. Fabarian was not proud of his actions while working for Vader, especially his murder of Slandarv. Despite disliking Slandarv and knowing he had to be stopped, Fabarian felt that his service to Vader had made it easier to kill him. Fabarian clashed with Enric Pryde, irritated by Pryde's admiration of Vader, while Pryde saw Fabarian as being too lenient with the Empire's enemies.
Fabarian was protective of civilian lives, not wanting to endanger innocents on Slandarvia M-9 and shooting Slandarv when the baron planned to kill them all to destroy his factory. He had little sympathy for Moore when she was pained by the suffering of the M.A.R. Corps at Vader's hands, as she had involved the Schism with the Sith Lord, but found some familiarity in the cyborgs' fear and anger. As an Assistant Data Processor, Fabarian was reluctant to erase official records to let Baron Slandarv off a fine. Fabarian had gray hair, blue eyes, and light skin.
As a member of the Imperial Security Bureau, Fabarian wore an Imperial officer's uniform, including an officer's disk and a cap. His uniform featured code cylinders and a rank insignia plaque with two blue and two red squares. Fabarian also carried a comlink and a blaster. As an Assistant Data Processor, Fabarian wore a gray uniform with the Imperial insignia and carried a datapad and a comlink, the latter with an autoslicer installed by Moore. After being discharged, Fabarian changed into a black Imperial uniform and carried a blaster and a holoprojector. In the Meridional Ice Cap of Tython, Fabarian briefly wore a heavy white jacket, gray pants, gray gloves, and a white cap covering his ears. Fabarian piloted a Lambda-class T-4a shuttle when traveling from Coruscant to meet with Vader and the Schism.
Fabarian's first appearance was in the forty-third issue of the 2020 Star Wars: Darth Vader comic series, written by Greg Pak, illustrated by Adam Gorham, and published by Marvel Comics on February 14, 2024.
