The Headquarters Frigate, also known as Home One, was a significantly modified MC80A Home One Type Heavy Star Cruiser within the Alliance Fleet. This vessel is well-known for its service as the flagship of Admiral Gial Ackbar during the decisive battle at Endor.

Originally designed and built for civilian deep space exploration, Home One underwent extensive refitting to become a warship. It boasted reinforced hull plating, shields with triple the standard strength, and a capacity of twenty hangars to house various warships and starfighter squadrons. Measuring 1,300 meters in length, it exceeded the typical dimensions of an MC80 Star Cruiser. Its initial armament consisted of turbolaser cannons, ion cannons, and multiple tractor beam projectors. As the Alliance Fleet's largest and most sophisticated vessel, its briefing room was initially designed as a holographic amphitheater. In case of emergency, at least two sections of the ship could separate from the main structure to function as independent attack or escape vehicles. The ship's crew was composed entirely of Mon Calamari, a result of the control systems being specifically tailored for their physiology. The ship was initially constructed with water-filled passages for the Mon Calamari crew to swim through, but these were later removed to accommodate other species.

In 2 BBY, Home One was present when the Rebel Alliance officially convened for the first time above the planet of Dantooine.
After the Empire discovered and destroyed the primary Alliance base on Hoth, Home One acted as a mobile command hub. It was the vessel where Mon Mothma, Crix Madine, Admiral Gial Ackbar, and other key Alliance figures briefed Rebel forces about the upcoming conflict above Endor. Following Mon Mothma's outline of the strike force's main objectives and the departure of General Han Solo's ground-based Pathfinder commandos, the ship entered hyperspace. Arriving in the Endor system via the secret Sanctuary Pipeline hyperspace route, it immediately engaged in intense combat during the Battle of Endor. Serving as the flagship and central command for the Rebel fleet against the second Death Star, it earned the name "Headquarters Frigate" due to its role as Admiral Ackbar's flagship.
In the months that followed the Battle of Endor, the ship was still undergoing repairs from the battle. The newly appointed Fleet Admiral Ackbar designated the ship as his command vessel, and he would engage in hand-to-hand combat in its holographic chamber to maintain his reflexes. After briefly meeting with New Republic leadership, he ordered the deployment of New Republic SpecForces onto Akiva after receiving momentary contact with downed pilot Wedge Antilles. Unbeknownst to Ackbar, the members of the operation would play an important role in disrupting the Imperial Future Council.

Later, during the New Republic's successful campaign to seize Kuat and the critical [Kuat Drive Yards](/article/kuat_drive_yards], Admiral Ackbar used Home One as his command vessel. Ackbar then communicated with Princess Leia Organa, Commodore Kyrsta Agate, and Chancellor Mon Mothma as they received a peace offer from Grand Admiral Rae Sloane. Home One later participated in a short space battle with Imperial Star Destroyers above Kashyyyk. The cruiser also accepted the surrender of the Star Destroyer Neutralizer.
Under Admiral Ackbar's continued command, Home One participated in the Battle of Jakku. Serving as the New Republic fleet's command ship during the battle, Admiral Ackbar coordinated the battle with other New Republic commanders including Commodore Kyrsta Agate, General Tyben, and Lieutenant General Brockway from Home One. Home One, along with Agate's Starhawk-class battleship Concord, participated in the assault on the Imperial Star Destroyers surrounding the Imperial Super Star Destroyer Ravager, which served as the Imperial command ship. From the bridge of Home One, Ackbar watched as the Concord used its powerful tractor beam projector to drag the Ravager to the surface of Jakku. This decisively shifted the battle in the New Republic's favor, leading to the Empire's surrender and the signing of the Galactic Concordance, which brought an end to the Galactic Civil War.
After the war, Home One continued its service to the New Republic, often escorted by X-wings. Around 9 ABY, Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano met with New Republic general Hera Syndulla on the cruiser to discuss the disappearance of prisoner Morgan Elsbeth. Mon Calamari officers continued to serve on the ship, with one officer requesting an update on the situation from Syndulla on behalf of the Senate Defense Council. Later, Home One was accompanied by a massive fleet of EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigates, CR90 corvettes, Sphyrna-class Hammerhead corvettes, Defender-class cruisers, and a squadron of A-Wings. General Syndulla called a meeting with Chancellor Mon Mothma and members of the New Republic Senate, including Senator Hamato Xiono, to discuss the threat of Grand Admiral Thrawn's return and sent New Republic forces on Seatos to stop it. Despite Chancellor Mothma's support, the other senators refused to believe that Thrawn is still alive and denied Syndulla's request.
Home One would eventually serve the Resistance under the command of General Leia Organa. Commander Poe Dameron received his first big mission while serving on Home One.
Home One was first seen in Star Wars Episode VI Return of the Jedi as the command ship of the Rebel Alliance.
