Facility 301G

Facility 301G was a manufacturing complex, specifically a factory, situated within the Santhe Shipyards on the planet of Corellia. The industrialist Morgan Elsbeth was its proprietor, utilizing it for the production and restoration of hyperdrive cores intended for Imperial capital ships. After the decline of the Galactic Empire, the New Republic gained control of the site, placing it under the supervision of Regional Supervisor Myn Weaver.

In the year 9 ABY, Elsbeth charged the shipyard with the clandestine construction of a hyperdrive for the extragalactic starship prototype known as the Eye of Sion. Her intention was to employ this vessel to extract Grand Admiral Thrawn from his isolation in a distant galaxy. Ahsoka Tano, a former Jedi Padawan, and Hera Syndulla, a General in the [New Republic](/article/new_republic], uncovered the shipyard's hidden network of Imperial sympathizers while probing Elsbeth's actions. This discovery led to the New Republic army arresting Weaver and his personnel.

Description

The factory floor of Facility 301G during the New Republic era

Located in the Santhe Shipyards of [Coronet City](/article/coronet_city], Facility 301G was a sprawling coastal factory. It featured an open docking yard exposed to the atmosphere for transports, alongside an extensive enclosed depot dedicated to the assembly of hyperdrive cores. Raw materials were scattered throughout the area. A central, expansive corridor facilitated movement for technicians and staff within the facility, employing REV-2K personnel carrier speeders. Large cranes were positioned across the roof.

A central control room, overseeing the docking yard, managed the entire site. During the New Republic Era, the control room was manned by both human operators and protocol droids. The humans were in charge of air traffic control, while the droids managed the production line and logistics. A number of computer consoles were arranged below a large viewport facing the yard, with memory banks and servers occupying the opposite side of the room.

History

Imperial Era

In the time of the Imperial Era, Morgan Elsbeth, a Nightsister witch and [Magistrate](/article/magistrate] who was a close confidant of Grand Admiral Thrawn, operated various shipyards throughout the galaxy to produce starships for the Imperial Navy. One such facility, located on Corellia, provided the raw materials for constructing hyperdrive generators used in the Imperial-class Star Destroyers built in the planet's atmosphere. The facility was staffed by contractors loyal to Elsbeth, along with occasional Imperial loyalists. Records of the facility were also kept in the Imperial Archives under the heading of "Corellian Infrastructure".

Dissolution and operation under the New Republic

Supervisor Myn Weaver was tasked with overseeing the transition of the facility to New Republic control

Following the conclusion of the Galactic Civil War and the establishment of the New Republic, the shipyard, along with all Imperial military assets, was disbanded and reassigned to the new government. By 9 ABY, while most of the workforce and administrative staff remained in place, Regional Supervisor Myn Weaver was given the responsibility of overseeing the facility's operations during its transition. The facility's new purpose was to dismantle existing hyperdrive cores and rebuild them for usage on New Republic Defense Fleet ships. Scrap materials and surplus equipment were sold to the shipyard's investors, with the proceeds contributing to New Republic reconstruction. In addition to Weaver, a board of directors oversaw the shipyards' commercial activities, having the first opportunity to inspect unique hardware, determine pricing, and manage distribution. According to Weaver, the resources from a single Star Destroyer could fund numerous such operations.

Despite the New Republic's efforts to control Imperial military assets, a shortage of experienced personnel meant that some of Elsbeth's Imperial workers, deemed low-risk by New Republic Intelligence, were permitted to continue working at the shipyard during the de-Imperialization process, despite lacking vetting or loyalty to the new government. Weaver believed that they were only concerned with their wages and lacked interest in galactic politics, and therefore completely trusted them. This resulted in the development of a clandestine network of Imperial spies within the shipyards, including agents of Elsbeth herself.

A secret project

Around 9 ABY, Elsbeth, aided by former Jedi Baylan Skoll and his apprentice Shin Hati, discovered a starmap detailing the Pathway to Peridea, an ancient route to a galaxy adjacent to her own. Believing this pathway led to Thrawn, who had been stranded following the Liberation of Lothal in 1 BBY, Elsbeth tasked Skoll and Hati with acquiring the map. She also initiated the secret construction of the Eye of Sion, an extragalactic vessel, above the planet Seatos, which she thought was the beginning of the Path. To power the vessel for its journey, Elsbeth directed her spies within her former shipyards to procure and ship Super Star Destroyer hyperdrives, disguised as a classified New Republic Defence Force project. The shipyards produced nine refurbished engine cores without detection, with Elsbeth's HK-87 assassin droids preventing the facility's protocol droids from closer inspection.

Despite these precautions, Ahsoka Tano, a former Padawan, and Hera Syndulla, a New Republic General, grew suspicious of Elsbeth's activities and visited Corellia to investigate the facility. During their visit, Syndulla noticed the tenth and final hyperdrive being loaded onto transport CT-O5 and questioned Weaver about its purpose, knowing that the Defense Fleet's ships did not need that much power. Upon finding the project's classified file, Syndulla asked droid C1-D1 about the authorization needed to access it, only for the unit to reveal the presence of HK-87 droids in the facility, ordering them to not engage with the project. Realizing the deception, Syndulla ordered the control center to ground CT-05, forcing the spies to confront her.

Discovery and detentions

Syndulla and Tano engaged the Imperials, who used their blasters to fire at them, resulting in casualties and injuries among the conspirators and protocol droids. Syndulla then departed in her modified Sheathipede-class transport shuttle, the Phantom II, and managed to reach CT-05 in time for her astromech droid, "Chopper" to attach a homing beacon to it. Meanwhile, Tano confronted Elsbeth's forces, including the former Inquisitor Marrok and several HK-87s on the ground.

Despite destroying the droids and wounding Marrok, Tano was unable to stop the transport and was forced to withdraw. After the battle, New Republic army troopers arrived at the facility and arrested the Imperial sympathizers, including Manager Weaver.

Legacy

Beaumont Kin, a historian, referenced the facility in his book The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire, published in 35 ABY after the war. He described the New Republic's failure to detect Elsbeth's forces within it as "one of the most serious examples of Imperial-driven sabotage".

Behind the scenes
