BlasTech Industries

History

During the era of the Galactic Republic, BlasTech Industries was a significant manufacturer of weapons in the galaxy. Following the creation of the Grand Army of the Republic by the Kaminoan cloners, BlasTech was selected to produce their arms, and they did so with the DC-15 family of blaster weapons. This included the DC-15A blaster rifle and the DC-15A blaster carbine, as well as more specialized armaments. The Techno Union, BlasTech's parent company, managed to maintain its tenuous claim of corporate neutrality despite favoring the Confederacy of Independent Systems, largely because of BlasTech's importance to the Republic's war efforts. During the Age of the Empire, BlasTech also secured numerous contracts with the Galactic Empire, manufacturing the well-known E-11 medium blaster rifle and its specialized variants for the Stormtrooper Corps as well as the Imperial Army and Navy. Around this time, the company established a weapons laboratory in the Easthills near the planet Lothal's Capital City.

After the New Republic achieved victory in the Battle of Jakku, and the remaining Imperial factions either surrendered or fled the galaxy, Mas Amedda, the acting Galactic Emperor and former Grand Vizier, along with Chancellor Mon Mothma, signed the Galactic Concordance on Chandrila to officially bring an end to the Galactic Civil War. The Industries continued to be active after the Empire's fall. The New Republic made use of the BlasTech-produced EL-16HFE blaster rifle. The IB-94 blaster pistol, one of which was used by the Mandalorian Din Djarin, was manufactured by BlasTech at some point in time. Paz Vizsla, a fellow member of Djarin's Tribe, utilized the M-55 Medium Repeating Blaster as a Heavy Infantry Mandalorian.

The treaty between the New Republic and the remnants of the Empire prohibited the deployment of armed stormtrooper forces in the galaxy, as well as the sale of weapons to them. In order to get around this, BlasTech, together with munitions manufacturer Merr-Sonn Munitions, Inc., created a subsidiary called Sonn-Blas Corporation to manufacture and supply weapons for the First Order's Stormtrooper Corps. This subsidiary was in operation from the Cold War era to the First Order-Resistance War, and it manufactured blasters and other types of weapons for the First Order's militias. General Leia Organa's Resistance, the First Order's rival, made use of BlastTech EL-16s and EL-16HFEs, which were by then outdated.

Weapons of BlasTech

Pistols

Throughout the lifespan of BlasTech Industries, a large number of blaster pistols were designed and manufactured. These ranged from the powerful DL-44 heavy blaster pistol to the "light" EC-17 hold-out blaster, along with many other models designed for both government and private use. The Automatic DH-17 blaster pistol proved to be so successful that personnel from the army and navy of both the Alliance and Imperial Military used the model during the Galactic Civil War. BlasTech was also the manufacturer of the DL-44 heavy blaster pistol that was favored by Han Solo.

Rifles and carbines

BlasTech also manufactured other types of blasters, including blaster rifles and blaster carbines. One example of a blaster rifle produced by the company was the DC-15A blaster rifle, which was identified as a heavy blaster rifle model. BlasTech manufactured the E-11 medium blaster rifle, and further "E-11" designs, such as the E-11s sniper rifle and E-11D blaster carbine, were also manufactured by BlasTech. Other blaster carbines produced by BlasTech included the EE-3 carbine rifle and EE-4 carbine rifle.

Other blaster models

BlasTech was also capable of producing blaster cannons, such as the Z-6 rotary blaster cannon that it produced, with Merr-Sonn Munitions, Inc. also being involved in its production. BlasTech also produced sniper rifles, such as the E-11s sniper rifle and DH-447 sniper rifle.

Multi-purpose blasters

BlasTech industries designed and manufactured several blaster models that could be configured for a number of different roles. The Alliance to Restore the Republic used the A-180 and A280-CFE. Either blaster pistol could be configured into an sniper rifle and an assault rifle.

The DL-44 heavy blaster pistol could be turned into a blaster rifle, with the addition of a stock and an extended barrel.

The company also sold reconfigurable blasters like the A-300 blaster rifle, which gave users the option to remove the long air-cooled barrel-shroud and the shoulder stock to allow for greater movement. A collapsing barrel could be pulled out to allow for greater accuracy without the need for previously mentioned heavy barrel. Note that the rifle could not reduced to a pistol.

Vehicle weaponry

In addition to personal weapons, BlasTech also manufactured heavier weapons that were mounted on vehicles. Ezra Bridger's speeder bike was equipped with twin JB-37 blaster cannons that were manufactured by BlasTech.

BlasTech maintained close relationships with the galactic governments, and it was frequently favored as their armies' weapons manufacturer. Major state contracts included those for the:
